  1. Stearns is the anti Melvin; he values pitching and defense with no clue how to put together a good offense.
  2. Is there any downside whatsoever to firing Haines because I see none whatsoever.
  3. I realize how hard it is to develop pitching but small market teams must consider everything to sustain success and right now our lack of depth is being exposed. The lineup is a joke and the minor league system has nothing even close to changing that fact. Again it’s great having two aces but it’s also no fun watching this team struggle to score any runs at all. I am not even saying we should move either of our aces but we should be willing to listen on everyone if the right offer is out there. Something has to be done about this lineup and no one should be off limits.
  4. If Yelich is out a significant time and the season unravels should we consider moving one of our aces to replenish a barren farm system. I would hate to make a move like this when we have waited years to finally develop our own top of the rotation pitchers but when you are a small market everything needs to be considered especially with a flailing farm system that isn’t close to providing any position player talent that will impact the weakest of lineups. Just throwing this out there for discussion but I think everything needs to be on the table to improve this offense which is simply not good enough.
  5. The team is just starting to turn it around in the farm system after those terrible Ray Montgomery years. Slow build, but hopefully steady improvement. Who besides hopefully Mitchell looks like a potential plus bat.
  6. The farm system has just not produced any impact position players and that is a problem that has been going on for years. Hiura was the only opening day starter unless you count Cain who was originally drafted by the Brewers but signed as a free agent. Small market teams need to produce home grown talent and we have just done a very poor job of drafting and developing everyday players that play big roles with the team. When you can't develop young players who produce on cheap contracts guys like Garcia and Bradley are signed for well more than they are worth. The team didn't hit at all last season and Stearns did nothing to address these issues. It was fair to expect Yelich to produce but besides him we have no big time bats.
  7. Glad someone besides me started this thread and it’s exactly what I’ve been saying for a few seasons now. Stearns has done a great job building the pitching staff and has been awful putting together a lineup. We have 50 million or so tied up into four outfielders and only Yelich is an above average hitter amongst the group. The lineup was atrocious last year so what did Stearns do to improve it. He added a great defensive second baseman with a mediocre at best bat and a defensive center fielder who can’t hit. He also doubled down and kept Haines who is the worst hitting coach in the sport. This team pretty much strikeouts 10 times or more per night without any of the power that you would normally get to make up for the swings and misses. The pitching and defense can only take you so far when you flat out struggle to hit almost every night.
  8. Hopefully he comes back soon because I can't think of another player in the game more important to his team than Yelich is to the Brewers.
  9. As far as the Yelich extension is concerned the credit or blame should go exclusively to the owner. Stearns had little to nothing to do with the contract given to Yelich and probably wasn't even in favor of it but regardless Attanasio was responsible.
  10. I think Counsell has definitely earned some slack. Stearns has too, but post-2019 season, Stearns and Arnold have done a terrible job. I'm not even going to sugarcoat it. They've done a terrible job in the last 2 years. This is an absolute fact.
  11. Probably makes no difference with what we are throwing out there nowadays but Haines should be out of a job.
  12. We can put this all on missing Yelich and Hiura being terrible so far but the offense was just as pitiful last season so this shouldn't be all that surprising.
  13. Stearns signing Bradley when we had a need for a legit bat was stupid then and looks worse now.
  14. They strike out 10 times or more per game and have no power whatsoever to make up for it. Shame to waste this pitching but thats whats going to happen unless Stearns picks up a few rental bats. We are just fortunate that the division is pretty terrible.
  15. Woodruff failed to do what he had to do to give the Brewers a chance to win. The fact that it wasn’t good enough tells us all we need to know about where this Brewers team is headed. How dare he give up a run. He also didn't get any hits.
  16. Wheeler is really good so no embarrassment being shut down by him but if you look at this lineup its flat out terrible. I get that Yelich and Narvaez are out but we are way short offensively.
  17. There's a lot of money invested in Yelich's back There is also an additional 40 million or so being paid to three other outfielders none of whom can hit.
  18. I don't get this idea that we shouldn't complain about the offense or lack of it because of the fact that the pitching has carried the team to a solid record so far. If the Packers win their first three games by an average score of 50-45 would it not be normal to be concerned about the defense despite a 3-0 record. The offense was without a doubt terrible last season and it has continued so far this season. Yes the record is good but we have to know that the pitching can't continue to win the team games when nearly the entire lineup is struggling. At the very least Haines needs to be shown the door and I would be shocked if we didn't need to acquire at least one if not two bats at the deadline.
  19. No complaints when the team is winning 2-1 & 3-2 games, though right? The team was built on pitching and defense, and that was apparent early on this offseason. They really do need to clean up from the dearth of prospects that came out of the Ray Montgomery drafts. Hopefully the last couple can infuse some talent into the system offensively. Its not sustainable to expect to win 2-1 every night. You can sugarcoat things all you want but the offense was terrible last season and doesn't look to be any better this season.
  20. Yeah, players like Keston Hiu ... oh, wait. I still think Hiura can be straightened out but Haines is not the guy to do it.
  21. As great as our starting pitching has been we can't expect them to shut the other team out every night.
  22. Posters: "We DESPERATELY NEED BATS! GO GET MORE BATS! SPEND MORE MONEY ON BATS" GM spends money on bats. Same Posters: "NOT THOSE BATS!" Should have added, those same posters while the team is winning close games despite not scoring many runs: "........" We need more position players that can actually hit. Bradley was signed for his defense and Garcia is here for some unknown reason when he has had a spotty career at best. The organization really needs to start drafting better position players with some pop in their bats. The pitching has obviously improved tons from the Melvin years but we have whiffed time and time again in developing some legitimate bats.
  23. The Garcia contract never made any sense. Just give Taylor a chance instead of wasting more time on a guy that has no chance of being here next season.
  24. Between Yelich, Garcia, Cain, and Bradley we are allocating over 50 million dollars to our outfield when only Yelich is an above average offensive player. Stearns has badly allocated resources on Garcia and Bradley when we needed legitimate bats in the lineup.
