  1. 2017: Suter, Hader, Woodruff 2018: Burnes, Peralta 2019: Keston, Adrian, Grisham 2020: Williams, Rasmussen, (Urias) A couple two tree long term pieces coming up each year seems like a pretty consistent flow to me. How many of those players are impact talents. Looks like the makings of a terrific bullpen and not much else.
  2. You can thank Urias for this disastrous inning but Houser just has to be better.
  3. Unbelievable what is Narvaez doing. Could have picked it up and thrown home.
  4. Lindblom seems like a good guy so I am sort of happy we gave him enough money to retire on. With that said it was just one of many awful moves that we made last offseason. Really Gyorko and Phelps before being traded were the only moves that have worked out well so far.
  5. That's simply not accurate. The farm system dramatically improved, then they used it to acquire the players that got them to the playoffs the last two years, dropping it down again. Weren't the majority of the players that were traded away either drafted by other organizations or here before Stearns got the GM job. I don't think we have drafted well at all and that goes to way before Stearns arrived.
  6. Don't we seem to go through this every season where we keep guys on the active roster when they can't play for a week. We are probably better off with Braun as a pinch hitter than Ray taking a spot on the roster.
  7. Better get used to Sogard because he is most likely coming back next season. He will probably have to take a pay cut and make 3 million instead of 5 but with the way Counsell uses him it says that he will be on this team next season.
  8. If Yelich continues to hit 207/324/488 he isn't going to have much trade value unfortunately. If he starts to hit better, we'll probably win more games. This season isn't over, no one knows for sure what kind of team we threw together yet. People were saying the same things last September & what happened? If after 135 games the book wasn't written in 2019, what makes you think it has been written after 35 games this year? They are still about a 50/50 shot to make the playoffs & then anything can happen. You seem to think this team is good. I think you are way off base if you think this lineup is anything other than terrible. Short season or not the position players on this team are just not good enough.
  9. He has been in the playoffs both years he has been here and it was him that came to ownership asking for an extension. As long as he is hitting below .200 he isn't stupid enough to complain about how bad the team is playing.
  10. I would say that yours is the most likely prediction I’ve seen so far. In fact the payroll might be slashed so much that we don’t see Sogard’s option picked up. It’ll be mostly young guys like Urias in the lineup, with whoever else we have as minor league depth. Sogard has been so bad that he will probably agree to a pay cut and come back at 3 million instead of 5. With the way that Counsell has him in the lineup against all righties I would be surprised if he was not brought back.
  11. I think you guys should start preparing for another cut to the payroll. When you consider that Attanasio cut payroll last offseason fully anticipating big crowds he sure isn't going to spend next offseason with this much uncertainty. Expect another round of Sogard type acquisitions with Sogard in particular having his option picked up.
  12. I get the need to be optimistic but you have to be wearing rose colored glasses to see Ray as being an Acuna type talent.
  13. Unless you think the rest of the baseball world has some bias against the Brewers we have probably the worst farm system in baseball. Part of that is bad drafts before Stearns was hired but I would guess that we still have most of the same scouts in place. There is nothing more important than having a consistent flow of good young talent coming from the minor leagues and we just don't have that.
  14. It was a bad draft but I think Kyle Lewis went after him.
  15. If the organization thinks Jace Peterson is a better option than Taylor and Ray it doesn’t say much for their futures in the organization.
  16. Would be nice to see a guy like this succeed.
  17. Ownership decided to cut payroll and Stearns did so. What he did to save on payroll was sign a bunch of scrubs but ownership is more at fault. The biggest issue is having a bad farm system where you don’t have talent within that you feel is better than Sogard and Smoak.
  18. With how much Sogard plays I would be shocked if we didn’t pick up his option.
  19. You know he’s not on the active roster right??? I forgot but he wasn’t getting any starts against them prior to today.
