  1. If I remember correctly the rumors were that the Mariners were after Wong, not that the Brewers were after Winker. Aside from the fact that we don't know if other teams were after Winker or not, it is equally possible the Brewers were their preferred match. Or, maybe the Brewers just made a shrewd move before another team could. Your premise makes a lot of debatable assumptions.
  2. What does that have to do with the Brewers doing their medical due diligence? The Brewers have doctors that talk to other doctors and review medical information independently. Based on those reviews the Brewers either have a high degree of confidence he will be fine. I mean, this really is baseball 101 stuff.
  3. Well, this started with a reference to the Twins trading for Urshela at which point the Brewers had Wong. So yes, we did have a second basemen...and a third basemen equal to or better than Urshela so I'm guessing that is what precluded a hypothetical acquisition of Urshela.
  4. I agree in that I don't see it happening but I think it will be the money, not the years. I really do not see the problem in giving him 3/4 years. We have high hopes for Jeferson but we don't really know yet. Even if he is ready in two years is he really going to assume an every day role from the start? Its more likely he splits time with someone.
  5. LOL. Trades are evaluated based on the production acquired and the production given up. When looking at Richards and Francis, Tellez makes the team noticeably better without question. Tellez was not responsible for the regression of, and injuries to, the pitching staff. The FOs inability to acquire more talent or any other variable that has nothing to do with the Tellez trade.
  6. i don't know. I think I like this guys profile better than any of the three returns from the Renfroe trade. That may or may not be a low bar...
  7. You aren't wrong and most posters agree (as do I) that it is too early to judge the off-season as a whole. Having said that I respect you as a poster and enjoy what you bring to the board. Let the other stuff go.

  9. Admittedly, I was reaching but I doubt there is much too the idea.

  11. Folks, there are certainly posters who are over the top with the twitter-esque negativity on this board. There are also the equally over the top positivity crusaders. Neither one is enjoyable.

  13. Eh, if they can find a cost controlled OF with the skillset they like which in turn frees up one of the MiLB OFs for a trade for something they need then it could be understood. But if Arizona is looking for MLB pieces I'm not sure who they give up. Maybe Mitchell and Lauer?

  15. Fair enough but the post I was responding to equivocally stated that the pitching depth and especially the rotation was better and deeper. I don't think that is objectively true at this point.

  17. Sure, but are the "depth" arms they have picked up even that? Maybe, maybe not but it sure isn't a given.

  19. The bolded is probably more likely. I don't think they have any shot at Murphy, Jansen or Vasquez.

  21. Box, Gott, Suter, all were useful pitchers last year. Sure, they picked ups some depth arms. That doesn't mean those depth arms are better than the depth arms they lost. You can't just say they singed a bunch of depth arms when those arms really have zero MLB track record and say its all good.

  23. I disagree. Given what left I don't think they have really improved pitching. They picked up some arms but we really don't know anything about the quality of those arms. They may be useful, they may be trash.
