Multiple things can be true. They can be playing poorly and still win games. I think a third thing is true in that the rest of the division isn't all that good either. The question is whether the inconsistent play and lack of any meaningful additions will catch up with them. -
Its huge. They have a pretty decent gauntlet through the middle of this month. Every games worth of a lead is a good thing.

I guess but the same arguments were being made for Keuchel, but Keuchel wasn't on the team when they traded for Montas. I'm not a huge stat guy but ti would seem Byrce Wilson could give you similar or better production without the cost. ;

I can agree with that for the most part. The question is whether that improved the team versus what they have and/or what they gave up to get him.
