  1. 4-12 have a dozen major league home runs combined.
  2. Interesting that Perkins gets the call in center. Weimer seems to getting days off at least a little more frequently. Wonder if that trend will continue.
  3. Regardless of the corresponding mover, I think we all hope he makes a big difference for the offense..
  4. But if it's year three and he does figure it out, you are going to be very happy to have that extra year. How does sending him down for two weeks not worth that?
  5. It's not about spending. It's about giving the player and team as much time and flexibility in determining what the path forward is.
  6. At this moment, sure. I think the hope for the Brewers is that he eventually figures out how to hit major league pitching. It may take a couple years to figure that out. Why not get another year of service time to figure it all out?
  7. Look, cutting Tapia was the right and predictable call. Having said that, given Weimer two weeks in AAA is not going to make or break this team. The guys isn't hitting, at all. Sending him down would be perfectly justifiable and not just "service time manipulation".
  8. We are talking about two weeks to gain a year.
  9. How is sending down Weimer even remotely comparable to trading Burnes?
  10. Clearly a short term tryout to see if they can fill a hole before the deadline and focus assets elsewhere.
  11. Also, as someone pointed out earlier, Perkins has been an elite defender. He can also play a very good CF and not hit. They have viable replacements.
  12. And would benefit the team in the long run, which is absolutely a baseball decision.
  13. OK, any real proof those things are related?
  14. I think Weimer doesn't hit. There is more than enough justification to send him down and every player in that clubhouse knows it. Gaining another year of service time is the opposite of a bad baseball decision. I think the clubhouse would love whomever is productive with the bat in center field considering Frelick is probably just as good with the glove. I think winning is the top priority for everyone there and if Weimer can benefit from a couple of weeks in the minors to straighten out his offense, I think every single player the clubhouse would understand. Having said that, I'd much rather see Tapia gone.
  15. My instinct was Tapia but it may be Perkins due to options. I think Winker has hit a bit better lately and should be kept until the deadline.
  16. I assuem Sal has gotten healthy and/or turned a corner in AAA. I assume Tapia is gone, or maybe Perkins but I'd bet on Tapia.
  17. Just hoping we are no worse than 2 games out at the end of these nine games. Cincy offense is waking up again.
  18. Get Freid healthy, maybe trade for a starter and this is a very good all around team in Atlanta.
  19. Turang and Perkins completely over-matched by mediocrity.
