  1. 1. Greinke type 2. Gallardo 3. Marcum type 4. Fiers 5. Winner between Narveson, Estrada and upcoming AAA/AA arms You still have to have a legitimate Ace. Gallardo is still too inconsistent to be a #1. Fiers, while a pleasant addition, hasn't pitched enough at the MLB level for me to be comfortable with anything higher than a #4. The #5 position will be filled with someone from within the organization. I would like to see both Narveson and Estrada as long-men in the bullpen. I'd like to see Narveson replace Parra. I would also like to see at least one young arm other than Fiers make the rotation next year otherwise there will be a logjam a level below...not that it's necessarily a bad thing. Maybe Thornburg makes the opening day roster in the bullpen too with a good spring. That would take him out of the #5 slot, but I think he is still better served as a starter in AAA for at least the beginning of '13. I think a strong push should be made to bring back Greinke near market value and Marcum (1yr). The rotation IMO needs two good/excellent veterans to create balance and to take a fair share of the pressure on. The young guys need to be pushed down in the rotation for them to pick up the necessary experience and appropriate amount of pressure vs. their experience. This would make me comfortable going into next year with a playoff-caliber rotation. Too many young, unproven guys next year would lower my playoff expectations accordingly.
  2. Jim Henderson looked poised and topped out at 97MPH on his fastball in a perfect 6th inning. Congratulations to the 29 year-old in his major league debut!
  3. It would be funny if it didn't make sense...but it does make sense.
  4. I'll take a bag of balls for nearly everyone in the bullpen. Other than Axford, whom I think is going to be fine, ship 'em all! Post season hopes are over. Let's see what we have on the farm.
  5. Hawing and fondy, if it makes you feel better, I thought Ruben Quevedo was going to be awesome.
  6. I agree that it is about time to prepare for a selling strategy in the personnel department. This series was critical to gain ground and failed to do so. I do not envy Doug Melvin at all right now. All these 1 run losses, near misses and failure to perform the fundamentals in critical moments have taken their toll on this fan. It won't prevent me from going to games as much as possible though. I hope that fans continue to show up and support the team because it is critical to financially sustain any hopes of long-term success.
  7. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/ Playoff odds according to baseball prospectus is 24.8% after yesterday's win. That is 9th place in the N.L. I look up this resource regularly and wanted to add that to the discussion.
  8. Why not keep playing? There's always time to get a real job if the pitching thing doesn't work out for him. Yes, he's made millions, but being a professional baseball player is not something you can do in your AARP years. Do it while you can. It baffles me that people even question why athletes try to "hang on".
  9. Thanks for posting the roster Invader. It's about this time of the year where I daydream about who's going to make the cut. However, there really aren't many spots available. I guess that's a good thing. Now that the Super Bowl is over, can spring training start? March Madness is fun for a tide me over, but seriously, let's go spring training!
  10. That makes sense at first prophet, having Weeks bat 2nd. However, if both Morgan and/or Braun are on base, do you think pitchers will pitch to Braun? I think he'd be a candidate for more IBB's and and bring Ramirez to the plate with force out possibilities everywhere. Is it me, or does Ramirez hit lots o' ground balls? I seem to remember lots of weak ground ball outs when I've seen him play. Does Hart bat 5th then? Also, what about the CF platoon situation? Morgan would bat 1st and Gomez would bat 8th I suppose. What would your batting orders be then?
  11. I see Gamel with 150 K's or more with 600 PA's. I think he'll produce somewhere in the middle of (dare I say) Jose Hernandez and Mark Reynolds. 20-25 HR .250 BA .335 OBP .465 SLG = .800 OPS. I think his HR totals will climb with more experience and if he takes his stance a little further away from the plate. In what little I've seen of him, he crowds the plate too much and his head is in forwrd of his feet, leaving him off balance.
  12. So, coming back to Milwaukee really isn't going to happen?
  13. It is just a sad day to learn of Joe Paterno's passing.
  14. I turn to Baseball Mogul at times to help pass the time through the winter blues.
  15. "Finally Prince is not going to accept a shorter deal. He is going to get a deal at a minimum that will be 5-years but I am going to bet on him getting a 6 or 7 year deal with an opt out clause after year 3 which has been a popular thing with a lot of the big named free agents (Sabathia, Rodriguez, etc.). " If that's the case, doesn't Milwaukee seem like it could be in contention somehow? It seems to me that the market is coming back to Milwaukee, unless Detroit and/or New York somehow get in the bidding process.
  16. I'm sensing sarcasm. I like Hawpe more though. But, with the Aoki signing, maybe they're done with the outfield.
  17. I can certainly see them bringing Damon back.
  18. I'm excited by the possibilities Aoki brings to the table. I think he'll keep defenses guessing at least for a little while...bunt, slap hit, pull, go the other way, not to mention his abilities on the base paths. Throwing arm not withstanding, I think he's going to be appreciated in Milwaukee for all he does.
  19. I would certainly think so. Their GM stated that they have roster flexibility now to cover for such an injury, but we'll see how this plays out.
  20. The Brewers avoided arbitration with reliever Kameron Loe, reports MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Loe obtained $2.175MM, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel tweets. No deals done for Marcum and Veras though.
  21. I thought about putting it in blue. However, the market to this point hasn't been favorable to Boras clients.
  22. I hope they can close the deal for Aoki. on time. The Brewers need another on-base guy at the top of the order. Weeks has been miscast as a leadoff hitter for too long. He belongs as a #5 hitter in the lineup because of his extra base power. Aoki would be a fantastic #1 or #2.
  23. I wonder if this opens up more of a possibility that Prince could be signed for one year too.
