1. Reading this is funny because now all I can picture is Melvin saying "Hey Gord, where is my damn latte, eh?!?!?" "And that?!?!?!"
2. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Brewer Nation report the return of bullpen coach Lee Tunnell.
3. Hello Brewerfan folks. I think it's wonderful that there is a forum here to help look out for each other regarding job advice. I could use some assistance in my job search. I have around 18 years of experience working primarily as either a mortgage loan officer or branch manager for broker firms. I want to break free from broker firms and work with a company or bank where I can really grow roots or make a switch to financial planning, where I have previous experience. Unfortunately, my life path does not include a Bachelor's Degree. I do have some college, that was geared toward a broadcasting degree. That led to some work in radio in all facets of the profession. I am a young 45 year-old guy, who can still play center field and hit lead off for my wood bat baseball league and have a lot of experience as an umpire and referee in other sports. My resume' looks rough because of many brokerages closing during the "housing bubble burst" and that has led to many banks not allowing me an opportunity to show what I can do. My passion is to help people accomplish their financial goals and I would be a good fit for a company where I can utilize that passion with the skill set I have. I apologize if this is too lengthy. Kind Regards, thumperden
4. I concur with John Briggs. There may be enough candidates already in house to fill bullpen roles. That may be a risky proposition and we may be waiting 2 months before we know if anyone is brought in from the outside the organization.
5. I'd like to see John Axford back on an NRI.
6. I'm hoping for a St. Louis influence. An LA exec would be a nice perspective to have as well.
7. My gut tells me they're going into the season with 2 of the 3 of Francisco, Overbay, and Reynolds. I don't see a trade happening until they're either out of it at the trade deadline, or some other team wants one of the 2 of the three we keep going into the season. My gut also tells me that Overbay gets cut loose. I don't think his bat is good enough anymore, despite his good/decent defense.
8. My favorite 42...
9. The original number 42 for your Milwaukee Brewers...Skip Lockwood. A converted third basemen, when asked why the conversion from third base to pitcher when he was with the A's, he said there was no way he was supplanting Sal Bando. He actually played 3B for the KC A's as an 18 year-old in 1965.
10. Okay, I'm playing by the rules now. Carlos Lee in a not so happy moment wearing a Brewers uniform.
11. I know this picture should represent tomorrow, but hey...it's Valerie freakin' Bertinelli in a John Riggins jersey and I won't be around tomorrow to post a Hank Aaron picture. It's also a John Riggins jersey.
12. Bonifacio cleared waivers and allegedly as many as 9 teams are interested in his services. He's not worth getting in the bidding for. Let someone else overpay.
13. That's a good question monty. At first glance, I'd take K-Rod over Bonifacio all things being contractually equal because of K-Rod's pedigree. I'm not impressed with Bonifacio's defensive numbers at any of the defensive positions that I read on Baseball Reference. And what he may do with the bat could pretty closely be replicated or beaten by whom the Brewers have already on the roster. I'd rather have Bonifacio as a non-roster invitee over the other utility guys they currently have though.
14. I copied and pasted from mlb trade rumors the remaining free agent relief pitchers to hope to add to the conversation. If this is a no-no, please let me know. With Marmol signing, I really hope K-Rod is brought back one more time. I'm not really enamored with this list, but then again, it's close to spring training and not much is typically available this time of the year. Closers Andrew Bailey (30) Rafael Betancourt (39) Kevin Gregg (36) Joel Hanrahan (32) Ryan Madson (33) Right-Handed Relievers Hector Ambriz (30) Luis Ayala (36) Mitchell Boggs (30) Octavio Dotel (40) Frank Francisco (34) Brandon Lyon (34) Cristhian Martinez (32) Zach Miner (32) Brett Myers (33) Pat Neshek (33) Francisco Rodriguez (32) Josh Roenicke (31) Left-Handed Relievers Mike Gonzalez (36) Oliver Perez (32)
15. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to see him play as a Brewer. I remember #754, now that you mention it Briggs. I was 6 years old and at that moment understood what a baseball hero he was. What a class act indeed.
16. And there was much rejoicing in Brewer Nation! My first thought was the gopher dancing to "I'm Alright" in Caddyshack.
17. Does this drastically diminish the chances of obtaining Francisco Rodriguez?
18. I agree 100% with Mathews and Spahn's numbers being retired by the Brewers. I would also like to see Jim Gantner's number retired too, as a way to reward a local baseball hero and to perhaps inspire Wisconsin's youth. Ted Simmons not being in the Hall of Fame is a huge oversight. No to one hit wonders (Hoffman).
19. We all know the free agent pickings are slim, but why not try Nelson Cruz as a 1B on a one-year deal? Despite his many flaws and right-handed bat, he'd at least add another Corey Hart type of bat for less than Corey got in Seattle. He might not be bad to have around as an occasional corner OF too. I could easily see him getting 400 AB's. Yes, I know it's a stretch, but as a fan, and with cabin fever setting in, I'd like to see something done to give me hope at the position before spring training. Just an out of the box thought. Sounds pretty desperate doesn't it?

21. Would Bartolo Colon fit the bill for a cheap one year signing? I'm not saying I'm necessarily for it but he could be the least expensive, under the radar type that just may make sense. I would like to get feedback from others. Would he be a NRI considering his suspension for PED's?
22. Just found that it is talk like a pirate day on you tube. Anyway, I stumbled onto a little pirate joke... "Why did the pirates go on vacation? Because they needed a little "are" and "are"." Me thinks 'tis time for thee Pirates to be walkin' thee plank after this day 'tis nigh yar!
