  1. If that's the case, which is likely, I'd have to assume that he hasn't been able to control the 2-seamer over the years. And he did have a confidence problem. It showed in his body language on and off the mound.
  2. Do we know if Parra throws primarily a 2-seam fastball or a 4-seam fastball? A 4-seam fastball has less movement, therefore is easier to track as a hitter than a 2-seam fastball. I know the solution can't be this simple. I'm just curious.
  3. I'd like to see Tony Plush bat leadoff, Weeks 2nd, the pitcher in the 8 spot and Gomez at 9.
  4. And he's another left-handed bat. There's plenty of those to go around.
  5. Thanks for the info berniebrewer! This is another great way to help endure cabin fever.
  6. Omen's The Axeman is perfect!!! Not that I'm a big fan of the music, but it fits.
  7. Thank you much for letting me know.
  8. I'd be thrilled to have 'em if they're still available. I'll be in town that day and was just talking to a friend of mine about going possibly.
  9. www.baseballprospectus.com is a great site that I refer to regularly. A lot of it is a pay site however, but it memory serves, you can access projections for free. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. That is awesome news! I'm excited for her and her family.
  11. If Kotsay gets maybe 150 at bats and puts up 2009 Chicago White Sox numbers, I'd be okay with the signing. If it's 2010 White Sox numbers...I'll be very angry about it. As many others have mentioned, there just are plenty of better options out there. He's not ancient (35), but I'm scratching my head over this signing. Perhaps Mr. Melvin thought he needed another veteran leader on the bench to balance the youth. I can see that point too, but I'm not sold on his recent production at all. To me, that doesn't justify him as the solution in that scenario.
  12. Do you think he'd sign a minor league deal though with perhaps a call-up/release clause? I really don't know what kind of interest there would be in him on the major league level anymore. I'd like to see him have a shot here.
  13. He did the same at our high school back in the 80's. I remember him being very friendly and didn't seem to mind talking old-school baseball to a crazy kid like me back in the day. I always held him in high regard for that. He'll be missed.

  15. I've been thinking that the Brewers will win 88 games in 2011. I feel a little hesitant to have that expectation because I am a Brewer fan after all. Does anyone think I'm being too optimistic?
  16. www.mlbdepthcharts.com works too. Thanks rluz!
  17. Thank you Mass and Happy New Year! I'm one of those guys that likes to make lists early on and start guessing who's gonna make the roster.
  18. I certainly didn't expect them to spend money in the pen. I like the signing. Does this change Hawkins' role?
  19. Hello mods! Where is a complete list of non-roster invites to spring training? Thank you!
  20. I too would like Scott Podsednik, but I haven't seen or heard anywhere that Doug Melvin is looking to sign another outfielder. I saw on the MLB Network that he was content to go into the season with Carlos Gomez in CF with perhaps a part-time left-handed hitting platoon.
  21. Could it be a sign that Green's addition to the 40 man may signify he's about done adding arms? Geez, I hope not! I still beckon for Capuano to challenge Narveson for the 5 spot in the rotation.
  22. I wonder what the salary number will be too. I saw somewhere here that attendance dropped 9% in 2010. I also wonder if attendance will bounce back in 2011 or continue to lag. I'm sure that's going to be a factor in determining what kind of dollars are spent on whom. That being said, is it realistic to expect to sign a $10 million free agent pitcher this off-season? If they do, that pitcher absolutely has to perform. The margin for error has narrowed even further.
  23. I'm also picturing him to conducting the interview and chewing on his fingernails like he was always caught doing on the bench. That's just gross! Then again, so is tobacco juice everywhere.
  24. Even after the Greinke talk settles down and Pavano decides wherever to go, I'd still like to see the Brewers sign 1 if not 2 pitchers from the injury-risk pool for competition's sake. Rogers and Jeffress need more seasoning, so I don't think a rotation spot will be filled from the farm at the beginning of the year at least. I'd just feel more comfortable with more arms on board, including Capuano.
