Vogt said on the postgame show last night that he appreciates the enthusiasm of the Milwaukee fans and that the clubhouse is a good one to get to know. He also likes the atmosphere of the clubhouse. He alluded to other clubhouses without naming names. I guess the Oakland clubhouse isn't such a happy place.
What a game! Exciting defensive play and Knebel with a strikeout to end the game. Vogt put on a show for his new ballclub at home. As Ueck said it was a dandy.
The Crew definitely has the better pitcher tonight. Bailey hasn't been good this year and Jimmy has been very good. Here's hoping they have a good hitting night too.
Great hitting today. Travis and Keon with homers and now Keon with another hit. 6-0 Brewers. Shaw's homer apparently was the first time a ball hit that upper deck in this new ballpark.
The loss today was more the fault of the offense not hitting in the clutch. Garza doesn't instill confidence. That's a fact. He doesn't have to throw a no hitter for that either. He just has to pitch like he has in the past that warranted getting that contract.
Check that. The Cubs have won. .5 out of first place for the Cubbies. I know we've been lucky the Crew have been in first place, but I like them there.
What a jerk! I wonder how Sogard deals with him in the dugout. Sogard doing a great job for the Crew and Garza is an overpaid over-the-hill pitcher. The front office probably can't wait for the contract to end, whether they admit it or not.
It is exciting to watch this team. The highs, the lows, everything about a group of young players who play hard and appreciate being in the big leagues.
CC was asked at the postgame interview about Shaw and all he has to think about with his daughter. CC says he's been steady and thinks the park is the easy part for him. It's amazing to me that with a sick baby in the hospital and Travis can still come to the ballpark and do so well. Kudos to him.
Knebel is now the all-time leader with 38 consecutive games with a strikeout for a reliever beating Chapman. If Corey doesn't make the All Star Game this year something is seriously wrong. 38 consecutive games with a strikeout has got to make people notice around MLB.
Perfect throw from Sogard and they got him. Barnes gets out of it. Good thing there have been some great defensive plays today otherwise the Pirates wouldn't be down by 2.
Travis' 50th RBI. He'll have over 100 if he keeps it up. Apparently he hits Nova very well back to Nova's time with the Yankees. Too bad he wanted a triple instead of staying at second. Can't fault his hustle though.
