  1. Earlier this month, someone figured out the day in which the photo-car passed by the Miller Park area by using the exterior scoreboard along I-94..clever. (killed link made obsolete due to thread merger --1992)
  2. I've noticed your Rakuten avatar and figured it was only a matter of time before you'd chime in. I've always thought that 'Maruchan' is to 'ramen' as 'White Castle Sliders' is to 'juicy all-American hamburger'.
  3. It'll end up being something like "Invesco Field at Mile High" - the former name is too ingrained in people's minds to change things at this point.
  4. When you're used to this, "Creamy Chicken" certainly leaves something to be desired.
  5. He's your Patio Daddio for the second consecutive season.
  6. I don't think there's anything wrong with his quote because it's true. People wouldn't see him as underperforming if he was making $1 million a year, thus wouldn't boo him.
  7. I'm afraid I don't have anything to offer as far as the UWW experience goes, but I wouldn't let a semester's worth of 'awkwardness' keep you from completing your degree. Chances are, you're never going to see the kids in your classes ever again. Go to class, complete your assignments, and the piece of paper you earn at the end will all be worth it.
  8. My vote goes to "Snows in October". Clever. I realize that it's self-deprecating humor and all, but the 'parents' basement' part of the National Tour shirt earns negative points for me.
  9. I'm neutral in this debate because I don't really have an opinion on the band..but how does one go about making music for the 'right' reason? What is the correct reason?
  10. No, it's pretty much everywhere now. Type in an address in Waukesha, or Wauwatosa (or wherever). Look at all the streets coded in blue. Those are streets that you can go down to street level and see every house in pretty good detail. To be fair, the Milwaukee-area StreetView only became available on February 12, 2008. Before then, it was only limited to NYC, SF, Miami, and a few more major cities. And it's still nowhere near 'everywhere', with only 29 available cities/metro areas thus far. Still, quite incredible to think of the amount of time it must have taken to drive through all the SE Wisconsin neighborhoods. Pretty cool how they have the whole Milwaukee-Chicago corridor covered, right down to the two-lane roads in the middle-o-nowhere.
  11. Yahoo's free leagues are even better than ESPN's fee-based leagues. I'd stay away from ESPN altogether..they've had some well-publicized major live draft issues over the past few years.
  12. Tom Hanks chooses not to build a makeshift raft and he just painfully starves to death as a castaway.
  13. Ditto. And I fly on them quite often too. One airline that I'd avoid is Atlantic Southeast Airlines, often operated by Delta Connection. The attitude with which they were treating some of the passengers was borderline ridiculous, flight was delayed..etc. It didn't come to a surprise when I later found out that they consistently rank among the worst if not the worst in timeliness, handling baggage, and overall customer satisfaction in many surveys.
  14. While an original launch PS3 game, online-play for Resistance is still going pretty strong. I only recently started going online with my PS3 and I've been enjoying it a lot. That said, maybe COD4 is a better purchase at this point. I've heard great things about it and it won a bunch of awards last year. The sequel to Resistance is supposed to come out late this year and I would imagine the number of online participants would probably drop considerably.
  15. Landry was drafted 31st overall by Seattle, and then subsequently traded to the Rockets.
  16. What type of products do people review? I think it's probably something that should be stated on their page somewhere, unless I missed it..
  17. Everything that's been said above. I've been using it for several years now and the service/call quality has only gotten better since then. Edit: And by 'everything above' I was referring to the positive reviews by Jim and Brian.
  18. There's not really a formula or conversion that can be used across the board. It really has to be taken on a case-by-case basis. The different style of play makes the comparison difficult. Players have been surprisingly good - Tomo Ohka was nothing special in the NPB, signed a minor league free agent contract and actually was a serviceable MLB starter. Players have been surprisingly bad - Kaz Matsui was a gold-glove fielder, had good power, and a lot of speed. Hasn't exactly worked out for him. His numbers in Colorado last season are deceiving - check out his splits. Ugh. Players have been predictably good - Needless to say, Ichiro's skills transferred well to MLB-play. Player have been predictably bad - Masumi Kuwata had a lot of success in Japan, but was clearly washed up when he signed a minor league deal here. Brewers fans should remember him well. Nori Nakamura was a power hitter in Japan but even my amateur scouting eyes could see that his swing was way too loopy to have any success here - cut after Spring Training with the Dodgers. The unpredictability goes the other way around as well. There are plenty of fringe MLB, AAAA-type players that are lured to Japan by bigger contracts every year. Some end up having great success while other fall flat on their face. Joe Dillon struggled so much (both at the plate and defensively) that he was sent down to the Japanese minors for most of the 2006 season, only to find himself on a big league roster the following year. One-time Brewer Angel Echevarria played himself out of MLB but hit 30+ home runs in his first year in Japan.
  19. "(20) Wisconsin vs. (7) Duke can currently be seen on ESPNU" Ugh the ticker is mocking me. Can't Indiana win this thing already?
  20. Just to add on, I've also seen people get off the Badger Bus on the Capitol Loop. I've been on the bus a dozen or so times, and I've found the service to be reasonably reliable.
  21. Well, another ho-hum victory for the Badgers..will be interesting to see how this team holds up against some better competition.
  22. As the joke from a couple of weeks ago goes..if the Badgers make a big play but it was on the Big Ten Network and no one saw it, did it really happen? I was fortunate to be there (full season tickets, row AA http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif), so my favorites from last night: - Trevon Hughes blowing by two defenders and dishing it to Landry for a dunk. One of the guys challenged him to dribble by him, and he literally was stumbling to the floor trying to catch up. - Krabbenhoft's sweet spin move in the lane and the finish. Didn't know he had that nimbleness in him. - The contestant that did the karaoke thing at halftime was pretty good.
  23. I had heard/read that they showed the clip at the event last week..good to see that it made it to YouTube for my enjoyment!
  24. Furthermore, the part in their commercials saying something along the lines of its beer being "brewed in the Rockies so it's frost brewed cold" is puzzling considering that some of their products are brewed in Shenandoah, VA..elevation of 988 ft.
  25. Police Chief Harold "Butch" Valentine tells The Star-Ledger of Newark the odds are a person would win the lottery before terrorists would use the machines to launch an attack. Wait, but somebody out there wins some type of lottery every single day. And the Wisconsin Lottery tells me that 'odds are, I'll like them'. Somewhere between the two, I think I'm in serious code red danger here.
