  1. As of today we have 30 series left. Only 6 of them are against teams that are currently above .500. (We play Arizona twice) Of course things can change, but it's a good place to be. This is nice to look forward to, but what does the remaining schedule look like for the Cubs/Cardinals? They obviously have at least one more above .500 team (..us) to face, but I can't imagine their schedules being that much different?
  2. Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of: http://media1.break.com/dnet/media/2006/12/angry_german_kid.jpg
  3. Although I don't have the same issue as you do, I'll never pass up an opportunity to bash Charter Communications. I live in the UW campus area, and my internet connection has been spotty all year. I've heard nightmare stories about their call center as well. I'm known to be a pretty patient guy. When in the Milwaukee area, I regularly wait in lines out the door at Mayfair to speak to someone from Time Warner without much stress. But Charter takes the cake in terms of awful service. I've honestly had enough with their "Charter Bundle" ads on FSN broadcasts too. As if the monthly mailings weren't enough of a reminder, no, I don't want to pay whatever exorbitant price you're charging for it! Sorry about the rant...just know that there are equally frustrated folks out there with you, and I hope you get your problem fixed!
  4. I remember that photo thread and I've also seen the 'About Us' page, so I know that not everybody looks like they live in a cave or something. I do, however, wonder what some members (especially the banned) are like in person, and what role they play in society when they are not message board big-men know-it-alls.
  5. I've made a couple appearances in the chat room as of late, and have found the experience to be a positive one for the most part. I have also found though, that there are some contributors that I'd rather not hear from at times. So my question is with regards to the 'Ignore' button. Does it completely wipe out what the marked ones say, or does it acknowledge that the individual has made a comment but simply leaves it blank? Reason I ask is that in the case that the 'ignored' makes a comment that others make a response to, I would want to know (or at least find out retroactively) what was said.
  6. Okay, I can't see the game at the moment. How was Hardy out and yet Hart not score. According to Gameday, Hardy was out at second. Thanks. Shallow fly ball to Ordonez, Hart tagging up...throw hits the cut-off man, and Hardy (assuming Ordonez will miss the cut-off) gets gunned down at 2nd. Poor baserunning for sure, but how often do you see outfielders hit the cut-off man these days?
  7. Despite the Brewers' struggles this past month or so, the quality of play during the game still beats the quality of any commercial that airs on FSN during the game, hands down: - Tailgating Tips with Jerry Garcia - "Why do they race? They race for taste!" - (Cue music) "Moving on up to the East Side.." - (Cue music and walking yellow lego-man) Cold filtered four times...
  8. We could partner with Jostens for class rings! Well if we're going this far with this theme, why not go all out and get some lettermen jackets? If that doesn't get attention, I don't know what will. Brewers fandom cred skyrockets, street cred plummets. It's a sacrifice that we'll all have to make. Seriously though, I know it's been brought up before, but every time I see Brewers gear around campus (UW) I wonder if s/he is a bf.netter. If UW football/basketball discussions and Facebook are of any indication, I know that the university has a pretty strong contingent of users. Aside from receiving a reaction after whispering "whoa solvdd?", are there any other easy identifiers of bf.net members? Since I've never been to an event or anything, the visual image I have as I respond to messages is the "bf.net guy" on the header of the site - you can't all look like that, right?
  9. This thread is making me hungry. Oh reeeally... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Have fun, make some memories, and don't trip on the stage! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. was that the first interleague no hitter? David Cone threw his perfect game in 1999 against the Expos too.
  12. If you have $21,668 in A1 and $100,479 in A2.. Put whatever percentage you want in say, C1. Ex: 10%. Put the formula: =A1*C1 in any cell and put =A2*C1 in another ..and that should do it? If you're 'dragging' the formula across many cells, it might help to put $ signs around the percentage cell to hold it in place. (Ex: $C$1). That was a pretty poor explanation..but I hope it helps!
  13. I think the only other Northwoods league team in Wisconsin is LaCrosse, so besides Madison I'm guessing that's my last chance. Aside from Madison, LaCrosse, and the aforementioned Wausau and Green Bay, there's also a team in Eau Claire. I went to my first Mallards game last night. Was pretty much what I had anticipated, which was not a bad thing.
  14. She is teaching girls, future women I will add, that having a great body, skanky clothes to show this body off in and essentially being everything that women's suffrage is not is what's important in life. Wow..party like it's pre-1920. (Edit: Okay, read your most recent post. If you had said what you wrote in person, I'd immediately know you were joking around..but text-on-computer sarcasm doesn't always work that well. I think there's been some absurd things said in the Off-Topic forum, especially recently, so you just never know..http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) Anyways, good to see the system come to its senses and putting Paris in her place. There are few places where you're treated the same way no matter how wealthy you are, and the Los Angeles County jail is one of them. My thoughts with regards to her appearance? Dime a dozen - pretty, but I see pretty girls around campus all the time. They may not bleed liquid gold and blow their noses in money, but they have at least half a brain..and that's good enough for me.
  15. If the eBay picture is what your restored seats are going to end up looking like..don't do it! As banged up as your seats look in your photo, that's honestly how I remember them looking like back in the day. I can look at them and immediately recognize them as being from County Stadium, and nostalgically reminisce of my time there. The shiny new ones don't do that for me, because we all know that CS seats didn't really look like that.. Just my two cents.
  16. He majored in Recreation and Event Management. Sweet. If he doesn't pan out as a baseball player he could always help out at Helfaer Field events or be a or a sausage racer extraordinaire. Seriously though, what does one expect to do with that degree other than 'professional athlete'? With regards to the pick, I'm not even going to pretend that I've been following all of these prospects but I know that the brain trust has done their homework, so I'm fine with the selection.
  17. yeah, that isn't that much weight to lift. However, I'm usre its harder for someone like durant to lift that much because he has such long arms. While Durant seems on the thin side, I'm sure his long arms have something to do with it as well. I read somewhere that 5'5'' 135 lb Earl Boykins can bench 300+ lbs. An impressive feat, but he doesn't have to lift it all that far.
  18. I'm a pretty big fan of Arizona's starting pitcher today..easy on the eyes, and killer changeup too. Aside from that, I have negligible softball knowledge.
  19. As the old joke goes, how many Cubs does it take to catch an infield pop-up?
  20. "Don't fruit the beer..man law." But then again, if I recall correctly the marketing team that came up with that campaign was canned.
  21. I'm on the fence as far as the cheering issue goes. It's a time for celebration, but people need to show respect as well. However, I'm definitely not on the fence when it comes to reneging on a contract. The school can and absolutely should do what it said that would do. If the school 'let it slide', they would lose credibility and could serve to worsen the problem.
  22. Wie can be very good, and has plenty of time. But her moment as the young hotshot has passed, as the LPGA is beginning to market young stars (and cuties) like...Natalie Gulbis Splitting hairs here, but Natalie Gulbis has been a pro for six years and has just as many LPGA wins as Michelle Wie: zero. With that said however, I approve of her calendar. Her TV show on the Golf Channel on the other hand is awful.
  23. I punched in the a couple codes from Pepsi's last promotion and thought nothing of it. A couple weeks later I got a check in the mail for $20. Cool.
  24. We need to make Wes throw strikes. I like the irony of that statement - the Brewers tried getting him to do that while he was actually on the team, and his inability to do it on most nights was what got him shipped out of town.
  25. "Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. it's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do and you've done it." I don't really feel that I'm in a position to advise you on your decision, but for what it's worth, that's a quote that I try to live by. Edit: I'm quoting Margaret Thatcher, btw.
