  1. Let's not forget, the corking of one's bat barely affects the ball, if at all. For a 2B with little pop, I don't think it makes much of a difference. I'd be much more worried about his lack of intelligence.
  2. No offense to Smith, who is infinite times better than me, but if you look up "roster filler" in the dictionary...
  3. I find it hard to believe TOR can waive a player they think is injured. Who would pay for the surgery if the Crew wouldn't have picked him up?
  4. That kid is sure built like a catcher...or a linebacker.
  5. Phelps is a nice veteran, many teams have a worse 11th or 12th man in their pens.
  6. Why doesn't he just write a blog? He can write whatever crap he wants, and no one will read it...and I speak from experience.
  7. We seriously need to trade an outfielder or 2. Cruz and Hart are destroying this league. Nope, need to extend the ones we have. :)
  8. Very surprised to see Cappy hit for himself, though I asume he isn't in ahigh pitch count situation.
  9. Eveland with an outstanding April, regardless of his weight or horrible September in the bigs. If he can put together a season like that, he'll be handed a spot in '07.
  10. Anyone else see Ned Jr. doing very well until he gets to AA? Me too.
  11. Ohka is a proven big league starter, albeit one who could easily be called "mediocre". I don't see him being dealt until someone is dominating AAA like Sheets did, and for a lot more than a handful of starts. And I don't see him going to the bullpen, period.
  12. Belcher needs to prove he can catch, if not, he's just another guy.
  13. I find that odd, as there are plenty of prospects there, though not a lot of high ceiling ones. I haven't glanced at the minor league stats, as they don't mean a thing until the end of the month, and realistically, mid-May. Of course, lots of guys lose jobs based on a tiny sample, so, you could almost imply life isn't fair, huh?
  14. Let's not write off Huntsville's season yet, kids; Stars at 5-5... Mass, was there anyone giving up on a team after a week? Really?
  15. I'll take a prospect like Salome anyday of the week over a winning team. Maybe that guy that had him #6 in baseball knew something?
  16. If Ramblings is ever mentioned, I'm sure it will be followed by the phrase, "And it sucks". Congrats Brian, if the Crew wins something in the next few years, they may say things like... "Sons of Sam Horn, you know, it's a fan site...like Brewerfan.net."
  17. The Hurricane is trying to make me pay for saying a class A 2B shouldn't be considered much of a prospect.
  18. Is that the Ben VI that we were robbing of a chance to play in AAA last year? It amazes me how the heart overrules the head with family and friends on the minor league forum. Ben VI is oodles better than most all baseball players, but that does not make him a big leaguer...ask Brian Lesher.
  19. Tell ya what, some of those may have been requested, as Romano and Porter are solid AAA players...and certainly outstanding AAA role players.
  20. The mere fact he was out late the night before he pitched (you know, one day out of five) makes the "politics" involved incidental. It seemed apparent to me that he did not have the dedication necessary to make it to the bigs. I would have loved to be wrong, as you can always use another lefty.
  21. To be honest, that's why I never check out the IGT...or very rarely. I wish there could be a "serious" IGT, full of thoughts and comments like "Prince's swing looks far too long right now", and another for all the "Woo-hoo" stuff, but I guess that's an unlikely scenario.
  22. Oof, 32. Just missed Opening Day too...that's a shame.
  23. Does this end the Cruz as CFer experiment before it begun? Ash said Gwynn and Krynzel will get 2/3 of the CF starts. The outfield is crowded enough with out putting Sorenson out there. I'm not sure what you are hinting at, End. Sure looks to me that Cruz will start in CF a couple days a week (1/3rd of the time), and having 3 prospects and an organizational soldier backing them up isn't "crowded" at all. And, the DH exists in the AL parks as well, that's why I expected Colin Porter to be the 4th OF.
  24. I'll take developing prospects over winning some AA games anyday. Certainly not a strong team, but wouldn't we have rather lost a few more games last year in H-ville and know if Vinny could catch or not?
  25. Rodriguez got a lot of time in the big league camp. The only name I missed was Colin Porter, who I thought would be the 4th OF in N-ville. Greg, Krynzel and Gwynn are pretty much the same player, but many big league teams will find Dave's K numbers a deal breaker. Also, I may be a bit biased because I saw Tony play at Apple-ton, and he can run and defend with anyone. He can slap the ball the other way. He's a prototypical reserve OF, maybe he'll hit enough to be part of a platoon. Once you become a "starter", teams like the Nationals or Giants might keep paying you to be one whether you deserve it or not. See Goodwin, Tom.
