  1. I wasn't excited about this news until I googled "shannon stewart" and clicked on the first couple of links. I see a problem if she tries to slide head first. The friction would either start a fire or she'd wind up 5 feet short of the bag.
  2. Remember though, the minors are for learning. We have no idea if Zach was trying to win in AAA or if he was working on his 3rd and 4th pitches quite a bit. If he was a 28 year-old still trying to make it, that's one thing, but after a good start in AAA, and a decent stint in the bigs, he went down and struggled...that would seem to tell me he was working on his secondary stuff. Many harp on Rogers as well, but we all know he can throw hard. He's working on his other pitches and location, and he isn't dominating, but someday, all that work will pay off, if he stays healthy.
  3. Jenkins is not remotely overpaid after this spendy offseason. While he isn't worth as much as Brad Penny (especially since Penny is making #5 SP money), Geoff now has value despite his salary, while a month ago, he only had value if we picked up $2-3M of his paycheck.
  4. I adore BY Kim. I can't see Hall being moved for anyone.
  5. As a CF, I'd consider Jones. As a LF/RF, he's a platoon guy, and not a very good one.
  6. SEA took a utility IF from us in the 90's...Jeff Huson?
  7. Considering he'll get $4M or so in arby and Juan Pierre is making $9M, I'd say his trade value is pretty good. Both he and Jenkins have a lot more suitors than they did a month ago.
  8. I might take Giles if I'm on a 90 win pace at the end of July. The only one I'd do is the Garcia trade, if he's only signed for '07.
  9. Since Lee would be nothing more than a DH in a couple years, Houston must be thinking they're moving to the AL to offer him a 6 year deal. Well, I wouldn't say 2 years, but by the end of the contract, without a doubt.
  10. Works, though I did not see a mention of a 6th year. EDIT: Nevermind. Brett, where do you get the AL info from, or is that humor? I have never heard that.
  11. Link does not work.
  12. I wonder what Brewcru would say about Dave Roberts? And by "no-brainer", I meant Tim would easily be better than the 38th or 39th player on the current 40 man. I agree, he doesn't project much higher than Sarfate, valuable yes, but not a tearjerker if he were lost.
  13. Dillard would have been a no-brainer, I would think.
  14. Using any sort of "present value of future money" calculator, the $30M is at least as good as the $33M, $11M to come later on.
  15. I'd leave him alone and go after Weathers for $2.5-3M per.
  16. Solid middle man, will get about $4M per.
  17. I think braun should stay in Nashville until June simply to push arby back an extra year What's this, roster planning? Who would ever suggest such a thing? ;)
  18. Mench's value is the same as it was before he played here...some still don't understand what a small sample is.
  19. I doubt if they'd tell Roberts he'd be platooning, as it may hurt their chances. Alos, no one knows if Clark will be around in '07. That said, it'd be mighty tough not giving the older Roberts a "day off" versus many LHP's with a lefty masher like Brady on the bench.
  20. S06 may not get many teams, but his money looks best thus far.
  21. I'm with Pogo, will do tomorrow. I think both guesses so far are forgetting how limited the FA crop this offseason, or are using '02 salaries.
  22. Gwynn in AAA is a lock, it would seem. Gross looks to have one OF reserve spot, and you'd think they'd want a RH bat for the other. You never hear any mention of Tony as a possibility by Doug, who goes out of his way to mention Nix and Mench.
  23. I'm all but certain the posting fee is non-refundable. A team like BOS pretty much has to sign the player or lose a huge chunk of change. I'm sure they have discussed it with his agent and have the number in mind.
  24. Yeah, heaven forbid his odd behavior leads him to have a career like...Gary Sheffield. He may well be a flake, but he's a top prospect.
