  1. Brian decides who he wants on the board. Mods just lock threads that deserve it.
  2. Cruz will probably get half the starts at SS, as Sorenson will play some OF as well.
  3. No surprises there, is there? I wouldn't have been shocked to see Braun there, but high A makes sense as well.
  4. Kade is probably an injury flameout more than anything else. I certainly don't see Gemoll as anything but filler. Yeatman returns. It's funny, to me the best player in that trade at the time was Valentin, and he still is, but I was the only one who thought so for a couple years.
  5. Rushford doesn't have much of a ceiling, but he's at least as good as many bench bats, and a LH one at that.
  6. Now, Coste is a player that could actually be an upgrade over Moeller. He's a consistent hitter that doesn't get out anywhere near 70% of the time.
  7. Pretty sure those 3 are correct. Brian, I can find you a dozen AAA CF's who are every bit as good 5th OF's as Krynzel would be. 24 is young...but with Hart, Weeks, and Prince in the bigs after dominating AAA, it's tough to see him as ever being more than a reserve. Just because he's a #1 pick, though, someone might take a flyer on him.
  8. Krynzel only has the #1 pick going for him. I can't believe anyone is looking for a guy with two straight years of pedestrian AAA numbers to add to the 40 man.
  9. Who retires after hitting .331, even in Colorado? That is very, very strange.
  10. OPS correlates better with contact rate than anything else. There's a clear inverse relationship between contact rate and OPS. I believe this is why I noticed Ron Shandler's (among others) forecasts are so awful, because he uses "increased contact rate" as a positive trait among hitters, while in reality, just the opposite is true.
  11. I wonder if they told Gross he was going north a couple days ago, as he's been tearing the cover off the ball the past couple days. He might have been pressing a bit, trying to impress.
  12. Paz did have nice AA numbers...as a 25-26 year-old. The problem he has is simple...players get moved to 2B for a reason...range, arm, size, etc. If he could play SS/3B, he could be a utility player in the bigs, but if he could play SS/3B, he probably wouldn't be playing 2B in the low minors.
  13. Bichette is possibly one of the stupidest people to ever play the game. The idea someone hired the guy as a coach is absurd.
  14. Kolb would only go down if he embarassed himself, like a 10 ERA. It's hardly worth talking about, it's so unlikely.
  15. Casey, I agree 100% on the options...who said life was fair? If Davis stays and Lehr goes down, you have one pitcher in the bigs and one at AAA with similar skills. If you keep Lehr, you lose Davis as a FA, you have one instead of two. That's as easy of a call as you can find, unless Lehr shows he's a step or two upgrade from K Davis.
  16. Abernathy's best case is to be the guy they choose to come up in case of injury to Rickie, JJ, Bill, Corey, or Jeff. As of this second, I'd say it'd be him...unless Zach Sorenson goes down with him.
  17. I talked to Brian via e-mail, so i will not discuss what was said. That said, one thing to keep in mind is that Brian has his own goals for the site, and they probably aren't the same as yours and mine. And SOSH is a joke, for the most part. What passes for high intellect talk over there is someone using OPS. What's really funny is they keep new posters from signing up, when most new posters would be a huge improvement.
  18. As for me, I rarely post in the IGT, as it is an exercise in repetition, seeing 8 consecutive posts that say HR!!!!!!! This seems like a perfect way to keep it in its own little world, for those who enjoy it.
  19. 1-2, with 5 runs, as far as AB's. 4-5 in PA's.
  20. he should at least be a Pisces Did I wake up in 1974? Congrats, Patrick.
  21. I thought Drew was very unprofessional towards the end. Heck, he can quit at any time, and only has to answer the questions he wants. Like Tom H, I think both have some sort of very inflated view of themselves, "hey, I'm a sportswriter, how dare you question me". Considering the halfhearted work we get from them, a pair of writers who don't seem to do a bit more than Adam M does by himself, or for that matter, what Batman does when he has the free time, I find that especially odd. The work that Tom (?) did last year in Nashville is exactly what I would like to see, and truthfully, should see from 2 beat writers covering the same team. Until we see that with regularity (I do think Tom's "notes" columns on Sunday have improved the past couple months), it's tough to not be disappointed with their results.
  22. Deardorff could still make a splash in the bigs in a utility role. He's nearing or at his prime, so he'll need to impress someone pretty quickly. I'd say he's AAA roster filler. He projects to about .300/.400. Unless he's a C or SS, I sure don't see him in the bigs.
  23. I think the criteria for a MLB press pass is you have to have people paying for your product. That's how BP gets them, now that they have premium content.
