  1. Kinda pathetic when your hitting is so bad your pitchers, who bunt!, can't bunt.
  2. Well we haven't seen him and he throws a change.
  3. Butcher boy play. Infield drawn in and pulled it back and swung away to see if he could steal a hit. Almost worked. So we got cute... dumb. Anything we can do to avoid scoring I guess.
  4. Why did suter not bunt to advance arcia? That cost us a run!
  5. Not a matchup I love for suter... control is a bit off tonight too. Offense.... hello... can we get cheap burgers please?
  6. Ok so question... Followed the power 50 since well before it ceased but admittedly baseball isn't my sport. I try to leave my rankings to football because that's where my opinion actually carries weight. Baseball I'm more or less spitballing but I follow they link report fairly closely. Is that qualified enough or am I tainting your rankings? I'm going to be way too high on Kodi... fair warning.
  7. On the strength of draft comment cuz it was brought up. Was the 2017 draft far deeper than the 2016 draft. Looks like the multiple picks immediately cracked the top 30 this year and washed out some of the "stuff" in the system. I dont remember more than ray erceg feliciano and mccallahan (sp) from last years. Thus year i think there are 6? (Keston lutz kj 2 arms and ward... plus 3 international adds. This year top 30 is pretty potential filthy right now... was the draft spiked talent wise or did stearns just uncork on this draft and int signing period.
  8. This writing off brinson phillips stuff is nonsense. I'm also not going to grumble too much about them being in AAA. The number 1 biggest issue for both of them at this point is that they chase. Where ever they are I'd make a point of making them watch every swing they made at a ball 10x every single game. Drill it in their head. Dont make it harder on yourself! If those 2 can oblige you deal Broxton this offseason for whatever you can get. When brinson has stayed within himself he's made a lot of hard contact. Phillips doesn't seem lost either. Despite their numbers being a little to a lot worse... they look much better at the plate than villar.
  9. They talked prior to a broadcast this year that this version of Nelson was started last year. They were reworking his mechanics and it came to fruition this year. Unless he completely loses them... they fixed Nelson. When is the last time we said that about a brewer pitcher... he didn't go to say toronto and get better... it happened right here. I have zero issue calling nelson a 2, anderson a 3 and Davies a good 5 (cant repeat this enough... 3.7 era since start 5 april 25) Questions for the future. .. do we add a game over ace.... what is woodruff... is suter really a magician or is this a hot start... hader secondary pitch control. Until woodruff fails or suter implodes im quite happy we didnt chase gray or quintana and I dont see a Hader rotation spot in 2018. (Due to projected high pitch count short outings) We could very well be looking at no place for guerra but espino role and garza 5 mil option trade bait. Woodruff suter get the rest of the year to prove it.
  10. Arcia got hot due to his 2 strike approach.... now hes swing like perez.
  11. Anthony not our savior swarzak has absolutely done his job.
  12. [/color] Yup was going to say that strike zone sure got tight quick... ball 4 clear strike no debate.
  13. Pona arcia bad ab... broxton iffy. Why is hader up? Incase of barnes trouble? Fine with barnes or hughes in the 7th... but hader up... pitch him or rest him
  14. Nelson becoming quite the horse. Not his best... cardinals pesky... still 6 quality. Hader swarzak knebel... offense still cold
  15. Umps giving the outside corner a bit... cutting the inside a bit
  16. Oh no... looking at well located pitches is much better than chasing crap way out of the zone. Chasing has been a problem for Keon. His chase rate is 28%, up six percent from last year. Bigger problem, though, is that he hasn't made contact on swings in the zone. Zone contact is only 66.8%, down from 75.9% last year. 66.8% is really bad. Miguel Sano, who strikes out a ton as well, is at 74%. Bigger problem is debatable... in the case of my sanity. I can stand failing in your attempts... can't stand making THEIR failures successful for them. Mke chased their way out of a series win vs the cubs... ill happily accept looking at strikes right now.
  17. Oh no... looking at well located pitches is much better than chasing crap way out of the zone.
  18. This... trade value fishing. He closes hot sell sell sell. He's going to fetch something... even with the dreadful average and obp. Guys ops is crazy high in comparison. Lots of flash... no substance... still young enough that theres hope... some of depleated team will toss us a chip for him. A chip and supak for rogers is still a solid win.
  19. Why? Starting pitching is absolutely the very least of the Brewers problems right now. Garza and Anderson are both nearly back, Suter has pitched very well, Nelson has been close to an ace, and Davies has been lights out for nearly two months. Giving up this kind of package for a position that there's absolutely no need makes zero sense whatsoever. Zach Davies lights out??? There are no words... 3.75 since april 25 Sub 3 july? Wouldnt call him lights out but deserves a rotation spot Blue... that's gray
  20. If the Brewers' players are struggling because the Cubs picked up a good, not great pitcher, well then that is on the players. I also find it funny that starting pitching hasn't seemed to be discouraged, just the hitters and relievers? Maybe, just maybe its talent level coming back to reality? I'm so tired of hearing about the "talent regression." Unless by regression you mean a lack of experience leading to a spell of undisciplined baseball. The projections on this team undersold thames santana shaw pina arcia nelson anderson/suter knebel. They all showed development over what you can safely project. Arcia is putting up a year at the plate better than many expected at any point. But his approach changed some and he's simply better than the medoza start indicated. Shaw has been allstar level. Santana continues to blossom. Thames even after may june is better than expected... power and obp. Sogard sure... was fun. But the rest of the offensive woes don't look like a lack of talent (2b yes and cf is too young) . Looks like a bunch of dudes who aren't beyond their 2nd full season in the majors gripping and losing their plate discipline in a big spot.
  21. Slumps happen. The offense has avoided any prolongued slump all year long. This is just happening at a bad time. Its not an indication of anything other than theyre in a slump. Ehh.....it's more of an indication that this spin. Looks more like a regression to the mean than a simple slump unless people think Sogard was actually Rogers Hornsby and Thames was Barry Bonds. If you come up small in a big series it's not a good sign. Which is a shame because our pitching staff came up huge. Its not that thames has been poor mans adam dunn instead of puljos. Its not sogard regressing. Its a near all inclusive lack of plate discipline for an entire series. Take the a few more bad pitches and its easily a 2-1 series win. But the cubs would have been behind in the count a disgustingly high rate had our swings not bailed them out.
  22. Yup... And if aguilar gets on.... perez for the pitcher... Good time to announce you dont believe in the kid. Pitchers deserved a sweep.... our hitters struck themselves out constantly this series. Barnes 0-2 pitch last night was awful... despite that you can't blame the arms AT ALL.. Wasn't CC either... terrible ab after terrible ab.
