  1. I also wonder why Urias isn't in the lineup considering his stats over the past week, as mentioned earlier in the thread, are pretty solid and him and Shaw have almost the same statline vs RHP, negating the lefty/righty matchup. Not sure I'll ever find myself arguing for more Robertson though That is all fine. RollieTime repeatedly argues that Counsell always benches a player after a good game when it has been shown to not be true. I don’t have an issue with Robertson not playing today. It’s just funny how this is what happens frequently. I do find it funny how you mention I’m still beating that drum, says that it’s not true about Counsell benching guys frequently, but the drum continues to be beat because well, it’s happening quite a bit and continues to happen. Otherwise I wouldn’t beat that drum. I’m sorry, but Shaw isn’t the future and has done 0 to warrant more playing time. He is 1/22 recently prior to today. Shaw won’t be on the roster next year and instead of letting the young guy play after some success and building his confidence moving forward the next half decade, we let him ride the pine after a good game. But here we are.
  2. If he keeps this up, I think a quick promotion to AA will be in order by the end of June. He is 22 already. Last year was really unfortunate for these young guys.
  3. How would people feel about a Keston Hiura for Jo Adell swap?
  4. I do find it strange that people are reluctant to place any blame on Stearns or Haines. I personally have not been a huge fan of some of the players targeted in free agency and have mentioned others I would have targeted. Also, Haines obviously serves some purpose or they wouldn’t have a role on the team as a hitting coach. Whether it’s fixing things at the plate, making players do adjustments, providing them information on pitchers. Something isn’t working and it’s just too many players that have come here only to struggle below career norms. There has to be some blame somewhere and it can’t strictly be on the players. If one or two guys were struggling, that’s one thing. An organizational problem is on somebody not doing something or providing information that isn’t helping the players.
  5. The two guys who hit home runs yesterday find the bench today. Urias finding the bench after a walk, double, and homerun in his last two games when it’s a young player struggling. He has reverse splits too. Way to give the kid confidence Counsell.
  6. Glad it worked out here. I was disappointed to see Adames on deck with the bases loaded and hitting 7th.
  7. I wonder if we will see a couple young guys making their debuts out of the pen within the next week or so? Miguel Sanchez, Luke Barker, or Clayton Andrews who can also play the outfield and be a threat with the bat. Maybe even QTC could see the show this season. I think Andrews has a future with the Brewers with his very unique versatility.
  8. He has played respectable defense and did provide some production early but at what point do you have to look somewhere else again. Unfortunately we don’t have another option. Green can come up and play first or third, but I imagine Vogelbach would be the first to go. The time is now though to pair a legit bat in the middle of the lineup with Yelich and go for it for a number of seasons while Yelich is still young. That’s of course if they plan on keeping Yelich and think he will rebound. But that’s getting off topic.
  9. Shaw is now one for 22. Didn’t he just have another streak like that? Probably right before this one? Man does this offense need help. I feel like one of third or first absolutely has to be addressed this offseason with a real threat offensively. There are the bats out there to do just that too.
  10. Very cool to see Adames as the first guy celebrating with Urias in front of the dugout after the homerun. Love it!
  11. Looking forward to seeing Adames in a Brewers uniform! He should be a good one!
  12. Lindblom can be the next to go. Another poor contract that we will need to pay through next season.
  13. They said the catch percentage of Cain’s catch was 67%? Lol yeah okay, only a couple players in the game would have gotten to that ball.
  14. Cain is good at defense. Even the Reds fans are clapping for that catch! Wow! Nice tip of the cap from their fans.
  15. Well if Yelich isn’t able to bounce back, we might need to deal a pretty significant piece with him to take the contract. I think at this point a team would just take Yelich. And quite frankly, it might be getting to the point (injuries, performance) where we need to just rid of the money and be able to do something with it instead of risking him not being the player he used to be. Because if he isn’t an All-Star talent and is getting almost $30 million, we can’t compete. I’m a huge Yelich fan and it sucks how this is turning out. I feel bad for him. But I do think it might be in the best interest to get that money off the books with Cain, Bradley, and Avi all off the payroll after 2022 also. This team just needs a roster overhaul and resources being better allocated.
  16. Thanks for the update! See you tomorrow! Lol Fanbase is weak these days from too much winning. Back in my day only down 3-0 after 1 was cause for celebration! The difference is that we used to have an offense back then But I love the way this game thread is going so far! “See you tomorrow!”
  17. Adames’ career OPS+ is 103. His worst OPS+ season is 97. Arcia’s best is 95 and includes a number of seasons below 70. Do we forget that Arcia could never hit a lick and wasn’t anything spectacular defensively either? Adames is a better hitter and fielder than Arcia and it’s not particularly close. Urias is better suited for second base anyway. Maybe he’s more comfortable at third. I’m not exactly impressed with Urias this season, but his .320 OBP is promising. We also most likely have the DH coming to the NL next season. There will be plenty of days where Adames, Wong, Urias, and a future third baseman need some time off. Or the inevitable injury. People thinking we are giving up on Urias or won’t have room for him need to look no further than our OF “depth” where we were using Corey Ray, McKinney, and Taylor when we already had Cain, Yelich, Garcia, and Bradley.
  18. Andy Haines frantically Googling "jeff hoffman reds scouting report stuff velocity 2021" as we speak. I needed this today before watching this group of hitters
  19. I really liked Adames as a player and thought he would be a good target prior to the season, but didn’t think he was a realistic target. Him struggling this season must have had the Rays view him as expendable. I think this trade could work out for both sides. Adames is a good defensive shortstop that also carries a quality bat. He also has some pop and hits right handed which is needed in this lineup. Rasmussen dominated in the minors, but has walk issues and his fastball seems to be pretty straight. The potential is there though. Feyereisen has done well this season, but also has walk issues. They should help out on the backend of the Rays’ bullpen. Stearns must like Weigel and Sobotka over Rasmussen and Feyereisen. I like the trade overall and think both sides will get what they desire from it. I’m okay with this trade. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come? It might be early to tear it down and sell off, but doing it now would at least give us time to get a good draft pick instead of waiting a couple more months. Adames is an immediate help though. The control is huge and he upgrades our defense even more. This is an elite defense that just got even better. Now sign Gold Glover Rizzo in the offseason and this defense would be the best in the game hands down.
  20. I agree. It would be nice to see the Angels with Trout, Ohtani, and Rendon or the Padres or Athletics since all of those teams are competitive.
