  1. Your Taylor point is a good one. They can get similar production for league min. Not really sure garcia will be the play. I would be absolutely ecstatic if Tyrone Taylor could match the .829 OPS, 29 dingers and 86 RBIs Garcia put up last year. I have trouble seeing it, though.
  2. It's kind of crazy to think there are people in their late 20's who have seen roughly 99% of Packers games with a HOF starting QB. (Matt Flynn, Scott Tolzien, Seneca Wallace, and Brett Hundley are the answer to the trivia question you are asking yourself right now) Try guessing all three QBs that started a game for the Packers in the year prior to Favre. Old Packers fans can probably get two of them...but there is a trickier #3. Don Majkowski, Mike Tomczak and ... Blair Kiel? Or maybe Anthony Dilweg?
  3. I would think a Chromebook with an inexpensive external hard drive would work just fine.
  4. If you are talking velocity, the guy averages 95-96 on his FB, and can pump it up to 98. Velocity isn't an issue. Command is. Yeah not on velocity just the value that pitch has given him in his career which is just about negative runs each season. I think what the lab is going to do is have him pitch more of a secondary pitch they believe is valuable and less of the pitch that isn't so much. BSavant did have an overlay on a prior season where his slider seemed to finish in a very small radius or controlled. Just that it's a very small sample, smaller than that changeup. I just think from some of what we have seen a changeup seems to be used more often among the pitching, so I assume that is where they go versus that slider. An effective change should theoretically make his fastball more effective as well.
  5. I don't think the A's would want a high priced closer if they are going to tank and rebuild selling off their high end players. Maybe if the Brewers could do a 3-way deal with younger, cheaper talent going to the A's they could move Hader. That's exactly what he was advocating for in his post.
  6. That would piss off so many other teams' fanbases ... along with a portion of ours. Can you imagine if Jordan Love actually turns out to be a good QB, though? Talk about a franchise with a lucky rabbit's foot!
  7. He's likely the type of guy who will sign a minors deal with an opt-out. I don't think I'd take much issue with that.
  8. So you are upset that there are fans grasping at the idea of a silver lining in what was an inevitable situation with him exercising his option? Come on dude, you are better than that. If JBJ shows up next spring and looks the same as he did this year, I doubt the leash is going to be very long. But he's a sunken cost regardless, so might as well bring him back and see if he can provide any value to offset his cost. But yeah, right now at least, this looks like one of the rare "misses" of the Stearns era.
  9. He had a career year last year (34 HRs, 100 RBIs, .309 BA). Garcia had near a career year as well (29 HRs, 86 RBIs, .262 BA) in 75 fewer plate appearances. There is certainly going to be a contingent of Brewer fans with a "grass is greener" view on Castellanos, but I'd question whether the marginal upgrade he would provide over a guy like Garcia would justify the likely much larger (and longer) contract he will sign. Don't get me wrong ... I would love Castellanos's bat in the lineup. He'd be a great replacement for Garcia. But the contract has to be right.
  10. Exactly no one is grilling him over testing positive. Most everyone with a level head realizes that this Delta variant sucks, and is highly contagious to even those who are vaxxed. The vax does, however, seem to be keeping symptoms mild to almost non-existent, which was the goal to begin with. The crux of this situation is that he seemingly alluded to being fully vaxxed, when he apparently was not. This will be notable thing to watch as this plays out. My understanding is he could BARELY come back to play the week after the Chiefs...but he can't really afford COVID to linger around. That is where not getting vaxxed could potentially bite us in the butt. Exactly. Per league rules, he can't even enter the building until Saturday morning, the day before the Seattle game, and that is provided he is asymptomatic by then. Granted a guy like Aaron Rodgers likely doesn't need a lot of practice time to be ready, and I'm sure he has everything he needs to work out at home, but it's still a crappy situation to put the team in.
  11. Not great. But also 100% expected. There was a below 0% chance he wasn't going to exercise that option after the season he had. Agreed, but sometimes a lemon is a lemon, and JBJ is a giant lemon. It's ok to admit it. Just a huge waste of money, and now we have to deal with it. Who isn't admitting it? He sucked. Which is 100% the reason he didn't opt out. That player option was smart on his part.
  12. It will be interesting to watch Castellanos's market play out. He is a marginally better bat than Garcia, while Garcia is probably a tick better defensively. Garcia is about 9 months older than Castellanos, so age won't be a factor. If money wasn't an object, I'd personally prefer Castellanos. But I think money will, in fact, steer the Brewers toward re-upping with Garcia. Which wouldn't be a bad consolation prize.

  16. Was JBJ ever a 3-4 WAR player other than his great season in 2016? I couldn't find all the WARs for him, but I don't remember him being that good other than his one great year. If you take his stats from the adjuncticated 2020 season and ratio'd them out over a full season, it would have been right up there. But that a little disingenuous I think.
  17. https://www.nfl.com/news/packers-qb-aaron-rodgers-tests-positive-for-covid-19-will-not-play-in-week-9-ver Rodgers received homeopathic treatment from his personal doctor to raise his antibody levels and asked the NFL to review his status. The league pointed Rodgers to the NFL-NFLPA protocols, which do not account for such an exemption for players. So, Rodgers remained subject to a variety of restrictions, including daily testing, mask-wearing and high-risk close contact protocol that would force him to isolate for five days based on interaction with a positive individual, even if he tested negative. If his antibody levels are high enough, Rodgers could be considered fully vaccinated with just one shot. The NFL-NFLPA regular-season COVID protocols allow for an individual to become fully vaccinated via "a quantitative antibody test (taken at the Club facility and administered by BioReference Laboratory personnel after Aug. 26, 2021 and before the individual has received any dose of a COVID vaccine) demonstrating COVID total antibody levels (IgG, IgA, IgM) to the spike protein of 100 U/mL or greater, and a positive antibody test to the COVID IgG nucleocapsid protein, and 14 days have passed since the individual received one dose of any COVID vaccine (Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer or Moderna)." Sources, however, told NFL Media that Rodgers has not received one of the COVID-19 vaccines. So he HAS apparently gone the "snake oil" route.
  18. Gott has command issues, but has a fastball that hits the upper 90s, along with an outstanding curveball. The Brewers certainly have a "type" when it comes to these back-of-the-pen reliever types.
  19. I suppose it's possible that Rodgers got the Astra Zeneca COVID vaccine last summer. He did spend a huge portion of last year with his fiancee in Canada, where that particular vaccine is approved. It is not approved in the U.S., however, which may be the issue. I don't think this is likely, but if this IS the case, it would be exonerating for him.
  20. Honestly it looks like it may be just as likely Woodley got "Discount Double-checked"....two peas in a pod That quote from Woodley is from 2013.
  21. Just gonna leave this here. Perhaps Rodgers has been "Yoko'd"
  22. "This summer, Rodgers petitioned the NFL to have an “alternative treatment” count as a vaccination. The NFL denied his request and has considered him unvaccinated since the start of the season." - Rob Demovsky, ESPN Rodgers has always been a little hippity dippity, but come on!
  23. NFL trade deadline was yesterday.
  24. His exact quote was that he was "immunized". ... in direct response to a question regarding his vaccination status. It takes some industrial-grade spin to use 'immunized' in any way other than equating to vaccinated. Which is obviously possible that he was doing so, but that's blatantly misleading if the case, IMO. Seems far more likely that he's vaccinated with symptoms. Full quote was "There's guys on the team that haven't been vaccinated. I'm not going to judge those guys." It really would be massively dishonest if he wasn't noting that he himself was among them. I agree completely. The guy has forever been the master of spin. If he couldn't throw the dang football so well, I'm sure most Packers fans would hate his guts.
  25. His exact quote was that he was "immunized". Semantics ... but it is entirely possible that he already had COVID, so figured that he had antibodies that would protect him from getting it again. This Delta variant doesn't seem to care, though. In the end, the argument can certainly be made that if he truly isn't vaccinated, and has to miss this weekend's game (and possibly next week's as well), he has let the team down.
