  1. Fans will be allowed to watch a game in person in Milwaukee for the first time in 18 months. That is something that should be celebrated. But idiots like Bill Michaels are going off on both his radio show and on Twitter bashing the team for not allowing tailgating to start the season. I'm so happy that guy is much more difficult to find on the airwaves now. What a windbag!
  2. Good comparison. Brewers are kind of bizzarro Cleveland, with a patchwork infield and solid, albeit high priced OF. For years Cleveland has been great in the infield, but their neglect of the OF has arguably kept them from taking that next step. We'll see soon if the Brewers infield is a letdown.
  3. This statement is 100% false. In fact, it doesn't even make sense.
  4. Several posters: "Brewers aren't going to spend any money this year. Get ready for another offseason of dumpster diving! This team is terrible, and Mark A. should sell if he never wants to spend any of his millions!" Brewers announce the signing of former All-Stars and Gold Glove defenders Kolten Wong and Jackie Bradley Jr. to multi-year deals. Same posters: "Not those guys! I'm talking about signing guys to 8-year, $200 million contracts!" You mean like they did with Christian Yelich? Same posters: "No! Every guy on our team sucks! Why would that count?"
  5. At the end of the day, having Cain, Bradley or Garcia as your 4th OFer is an enormous upgrade over Fisher, McKinney or Taylor, or even someone like Gamel. This significantly adds to the overall quality of the 26-man active roster. You can't have too many good players.
  6. The offense will be there, provided Yelich and Hiura don't suck again. What they likely don't have is the offensive horses to pick up the slack if those guys don't return to being high-quality offensive performers, though. But I agree that the Brewers have made a commitment to run prevention defensively to highlight the pitchers at the top of their rotation, and what could be an elite bullpen.
  7. They've made big FA signings every year to add to their core. As alluded to earlier, just because they aren't long-term albatross contracts doesn't mean they don't count. Money spent is money spent.

  9. True...but that offense...sheesh How many World Series titles have the Brewers had in the last decade by concentrating on offense?

  11. Though I like this signing, for me anyway, this doesn't tell me or show me the Brewers won't spend money. It's a two year deal with an opt out after 1 at 12 million/yr. VERY team friendly. To show me they are willing/can spend money I would need to see some long term deals..3 years minimum(preferably 4-5) for Free agents before I'm inclined to think they will spend $$. No, re signing Yelich doesn't count(in my book). Now get 2 or more other guys locked up like that, THEN I will be convinced they spend money. Wow, tough crowd. Money is money, especially when payrolls are looked at on a year-by-year basis.

  13. I don't think this has anything to do with the idea of Cain opting out again. Everything (and I mean everything) that has been written so far about Cain indicates he intends to play this year. The only perceived negative thing I've read about Cain is that he feels like he needs to get his legs under him after not playing last summer. I also don't think Cain or Avi are going to be traded. Stearns is not the type of GM who regularly deals guys who are at their low-water mark value-wise. I'm not sure how this is going to work out playing time-wise, but it's going to be fun to watch.

  15. Can we now put to bed any notion that this team won't spend money or has no money? That has been strongly disproved.

  17. I don't think they is correct. The reports said he should be back mid-season. Unless I missed something somewhere. 4 months is what I read. Yeah, somewhere around mid-June to early July. He had the surgery at the beginning of February.

  21. Rasmussen retired four or more batters in five of his twelve appearances in 2020. Throwing 40+ pitches though? Just surprising to me being that it is his first time out this spring. I think it probably means we're going to see quite a bit of piggybacking, at least early on in the season. Although it would be fun to pencil an arm like Rasmussen into a future rotation spot, this is probably more to set him up to be able to throw 2-3 innings at a time.

  23. Rasmussen pitching a 2nd inning. That's an interesting development. Are they stretching him out?

  25. Yep, shoulda had Grisham two pitches earlier, and should have had Kim looking. Tight zone today. Rasmussen's stuff looks electric.
