  1. If you can truly get a 2nd round pick for Jones, that is a massive no brainer. I would be happy with a 3rd however. It is likely they would get a 4th round comp pick if they let him go in free agency. Agreed. If the Dolphins are as interested as many are saying they are, I'd try to get #50 out of them.
  2. The Cardinals are the perfect type of team to make this sort of move, with a QB who is still on his rookie deal. It makes money available for them to make "all in" type short-term moves like this. I'm guessing this won't be the last big move the Cardinals make this offseason.
  3. Remember Rasmussen has had 3 TJ surgeries. I personally think his days as a starting pitcher expected to go 5+ innings a start are done.
  4. Appears J.J. Watt is going to the Arizona Cardinals. So close the book on that one ... thankfully. Deal is 2 years/$31 million, with $23 million guaranteed. Yep, no way the Packers could have, or should have swung that.
  5. Yep ... should probably serve as a warning to those pushing for the Brewers to trade Hader. They'd probably be lucky to get 1-2 prospects back the caliber of Diaz and Harrison, let alone a Top 25 MLB prospect like Brinson was at the time.
  6. Good story this morning from Pete Dougherty this morning on the prospect of a "tag and trade" deal with Aaron Jones. He said two personnel men he talked with said Jones should fetch a 2021 2nd round pick in a trade. With so many positions that could use an infusion of high-end talent, I think this is the route they will likely go.
  7. I doubt that Shaw needs any evaluation defensively.
  8. This is terrific news. I'm guessing that everyone who wants a vaccine will be able to get one by early June or even May now. We might have a chance for a somewhat closer to normal summer yet!
  9. They are going to play Arcia at 3B, and probably at 2B and CF because they more than likely are viewing him as a reserve this season, and the Brewers like their reserves to have positional versatility. I think it is as simple as that. Heck, they like their starters to have positional versatility. They know that Arcia has a capability of playing a fine SS, so what's the harm in seeing if he can handle other positions on the diamond? If Urias fulfills his potential and plays full time, they are still going to want to get Arcia in the lineup when he's on one of his typical hot streaks.
  10. I don't know if there's ever been a line that more closely personifies being a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers ...
  11. Sorry at work, what does he say? San Diego is his favorite non-Milwaukee stadium to play in, and he likes the city. Which isn't surprising ... San Diego is awesome. But him saying it really doesn't mean anything. He can't pick where he gets dealt to.
  12. If the Packers could line up something like that with a low cap hit in 2021, I'd be more in favor of it. I still believe Watt can be a good player that would help this defense. But if we're talking a $15 million hit this year, I'm sorry, but I'm out. I would hope everyone who wants them to field a complete team would agree. The Packers cannot afford to take on a cap hit of $15 million this season for J.J. Watt. That's irresponsible, regardless of how much you want to see that #99 Watt Packers jersey. I do agree that his style of play is a very solid fit for this defense, and being a cog in the middle of a defense that includes other solid pass rushers like Z, Gary and Kenny Clark would probably help his pass rush numbers.
  13. It's a lot of eggs to put in the basket of a 32-year-old whose had some pretty serious injuries the past few seasons. It's a move that would be so far out of the norm that Gute has established over the last few offseasons, which is why I have a lot of trouble seeing it happen. The risks the Packers take are always very calculated, and often conservative, and signing Watt to a $15 million per year deal wouldn't be either of those. It just sucks that the Packers front office is going to take in invariable amount of crap when Watt ends up signing somewhere else, when it was always an extreme long shot at best due to the financial aspect and the team's front office MO.
  14. Or just sign Jurrell Casey or re-up on a cheap deal with Damon Harrison, then you can probably get two other good veteran players for the same money Watt is going to cost by himself. Personally, I'm indifferent to Watt as a Packer. Yeah, it would be a fun "local kid comes home" story, but people are making it bigger than it probably is. He would be a step up from Lowry, but not a "4X the salary" one. I think a lot of fans think that Watt is the 2015 version, and that is no longer the case. Not even close.
  15. Fanblogs gonna fanblog. Important to remember, especially nowadays, that just because something is written on a professional-looking website, it doesn't mean its legit. I've seen posts from some of the crazier posters here (me included LOL) that sound more legit than this.
  16. I'm guessing this was leaked by his agent and no such offer exists. I have no proof of this. All I know is that I've grown weary of J.J. Watt drama. I suppose it gives the talking heads something to talk about without the combine going on, though.
  17. If Peralta makes the starting rotation to start, it's going to be as the #5. Easier to skip starts that way, as he'll likely be on a innings limit after throwing so little last year. Not that it really matters what the order is after the first week or so, though.
  18. Okay, cool. Doesn't change the fact the statement was completely wrong and stereotyping how well he was set off financially because of how much his parents have. Either his dad has already blown most of his money or raised his kid(s) to earn their own money. This article indicates that Tatis Jr. didn't exactly have it rough, and that your alluded to stereotype of Sr. blowing through his money is probably not correct as well. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/the-son-also-rises/
  19. Totally different personal circumstances around those contracts. Tatis grew up in a big league household with tons of money. He could gamble and wait for a massive deal. Acuna didn't come from that background and if he got hurt or took a FB to the head and couldn't play again, he's not going to get that payday. It's all about risk of the next contract and Tatis has less risk because of his situation. Completely false statement Tatis took money as a 19 year old (I would presume less than $1mil, though I haven't seen a report on what it actually was) from an investment company. A company he now owes almost $30mil from his contract as apart of the deal. Didn't his dad play 40 years ago and never actually make the majors? How rich can his family possibly be? Regardless, clearly he was so concerned he could flame out and never make money that he gambled a ton of potential future earnings for a small payday at 19. Fernando Tatis Sr. retired in 2010 after an 11-year MLB career LOL. He also made nearly $18 million in his career.
  20. Rumors floating that J.J. Watt has received an offer from an unknown team in the $15-16 million per year range. Safe to say that the unknown team is not the Packers. That would be a terrible signing.
  21. Agreed. The moves the Brewers have made this offseason seem to have been geared toward run prevention. Doesn't make much sense now to deal off the best relief pitcher in the game, whose specialty would be to shorten games and keep late runs off the board.
  22. I can't imagine having the best defense in baseball with Yelich in LF, Hiura at 1B, a position he has never played, and Narvaez at catcher. That doesn't scream "best" to me. Have we improved from last year defensively? Yes, assuming Cain hasn't lost a step. I don't really put Shaw into the category of an elite defender. Have we improved offensively? Probably, assuming Yelich and Hiura's acts last year won't be repeated. Shaw is a wild card. We have no idea where he will be offensively. We still have Arcia unless Urias overtakes him. This reads like a poem, but nothing rhymes. It's a haiku!
  23. thanks for this post. I have ATT internet and looked into getting ATT Tv bundled. It is cheaper than Hulu live and I can watch FS Wisconsin again. seems like a no brainer. Problem with that is AT&T is a two-year contract, and the price rises significantly after the 12-month introductory price. So ... just like cable
  24. It is accentuated this year due to COVID protocols. They need to test negative to even get in the building to sign a deal. May have to quarantine, too, especially if they are coming into the US from a vacation or their home country. Edit: Context here: https://nesn.com/2021/02/marwin-gonzalez-hirokazu-sawamura-red-sox-mlb-spring-training/
  25. They haven't officially announced the Marwin Gonzalez signing yet. Have to make a 40-man move.
