  1. Really hoping that is due to his broken hamate in early spring. That's typically a rough injury to recover from power-wise for awhile. He's never been a prolific power guy until last year in AAA, but he's always been young for his level too.
  2. And really kind of out of nowhere this year. I mean, he looked ok in his few innings last year, but I figured if he even made the team this year, it would be as a mop-up, get-your-feet-wet kind of guy. There was really nothing to point to last year that would indicate the dominance he's shown this year.
  3. lol, I was just going to type that exact same thing... He's actually been used correctly over the last couple weeks ... barely seeing the field except in an occasional pinch hit appearance and late inning defensive replacement capacity. I'd be ok with him coming back, on the condition he starts only once every week or so.
  4. They are 28-27 after a 8-2 hot streak over their last 10. Granted they have seemingly gotten hot at the right time, but they've pretty much been trash all summer. Spent a ton of money for some pretty middling results.
  5. I didn't like the Anderson and Gyorko signings. Was excited about Smoak and Morrison. Was super excited about Holt. I would suck at being a GM.
  6. Considering the Reds were a trendy World Series pick coming into the season, I'd say they are playing sizably below expectations. I don't know if anyone figured that the Cardinals, Reds and Brewers would all struggle to get to .500, while the Cubs would run away with the division.
  7. I keep telling myself that Yelich will be Yelich against next season, and this is a blip. I mean, he has to ... because the alternative is very, very ugly, and I don't want to think about it. I have thought about it
  8. I'm kinda bummed that Anderson is seemingly the only FA signing that they didn't get a team option on. Would be happy to have him back next year. You could do much, much worse for a back-of-the-rotation starter.
  9. You literally just said this minutes ago! You wouldn't have been too happy if we matched up with some mediocre team in round one in 2018 and lost 2 of 3. Your stream of consciousness posting tonight is amusing. Thats not the same thing at all but keep stalking me anyway. You are literally making 75% of the posts in this IGT. I don't know if "stalking" is the correct term.

  11. You do realize who the hitting coach who worked with Hiura last season was, right? Ok you've made the point that it makes no difference who the hitting coach is. If that is really true just eliminate the position altogether. This is not a talented lineup for the most part but when nearly the entire team is underperforming it might be time for a new voice. But if they eliminated the position, who would fans use as the scapegoat for an underperforming offense?
  12. There's also plenty of evidence pointing to the idea that the idea of "herd immunity" is a complete myth, and an attempt to achieve it would lead to millions of deaths. I mean, I can show you "evidence" that the earth is flat, too, but that doesn't mean you should believe it. Yep. 'Herd immunity' seems to be COVID-code for 'I need an excuse to not feel bad for doing what I want to the potential detriment of others. Especially when there is loads of actual, verifiable proof from all over the world that shows that social distancing and masking up effectively fights this thing. Of course, that means that people actually need to do them. That's why it's bad here ... that "I do what I want" mentality.
  13. Don Majkowski wore #5 his rookie year before switching to #7 in year two. Perhaps there might have been some outcry due to a low-round rookie wearing Hornung's # too.

  15. Dubon's .713 OPS this year isn't exactly screaming "missed opportunity". In comparison, Jace Peterson's OPS currently sits at .787. Granted stats far from tell the whole story, especially this year, but Dubon, at least to me, looks like another "dime a dozen" utility guy.
  16. Well, they didn't and still don't have any adequate replacements to give him a break with. There's no Jerry Hairston or Felipe Lopez to bring off the bench this year. Likely the team's best replacement (Mathias) is sitting in a hotel in Appleton in quarantine* *probably
  17. I actually agree with you in theory (I know, shocker), but I don't think it's gonna happen. For some reason, this doesn't seem to be the same Craig Counsell who made so many "outside the box" pitching adjustments in 2018.
  18. This is why today's extension of the mask mandate is likely to make little difference. Because many people will complain about it being extended, then go right on ignoring to it, like they have for months. Also why this thing isn't going away any time soon, unfortunately.
  19. Another 3 Ks for Hiura last night. I know he occasionally runs into one, and it typically goes a long way, but for the most part, his at-bats have been disgusting this season. It's gotten to the point where I get up and leave the room during his at-bats, because it's so disappointing watching a player who has so much skill and talent, but evidently has no clue how to use it. I believe that Hiura has tremendous upside, but he's gotta get on top of his swing-and-miss tendencies, or I fear he's not going to have a long career. Thankfully he is very young, and there's still a lot of time for him to figure it out. For all of the "contact hitters" Stearns brought in this year, here we are tied for 3rd most strikeouts in the league again this year. I'm honestly surprised we aren't 1st by a wide margin.
