  1. Brewers are probably going to have to go at least 7-4 the rest of the way to qualify for the playoffs. Fortunately 8 of their final 11 are against the two teams they need to get past for a playoff spot. A sweep, or at least taking 2 of 3 against the Royals, is pretty much a must, though.
  2. He didn’t get claimed Considering the dearth of quality starting pitching in MLB, that is pretty incredible. Happy the Brewers didn't lose him. Does this mean he's a minor league free agent at the end of the season, though?
  3. Right...it's not as if there were veterans on the Indians literally saying they'd opt out for the rest of the season if Clevinger stayed with the team. There was absolutely no urgency to make any move there! Yet Plesac remains with the team? Clevinger flew back with the team, keeping the fact that he was out with Plesac hidden, basically letting Plesac take the fall. He didn't apologize until it was proven that he was out with Plesac too. I think that's what got Clevinger traded.
  4. Can this post just be pinned as the perfect response whenever anyone is advocating for firing the hitting coach? Not that hitting coaches don't serve their purpose, but they are more or less a scapegoat for frustrated fans to vent on.
  5. I don't mind the extra innings rule. If you can't score a runner from 2nd with no outs, you don't deserve to win.
  6. Yep, there's a huge disconnect in saying 'it's safe for football' while campuses, including UW-Madison, are having major problems and are actually closing down. We all know what's really going on here.... $$$$$$$$ That and politics ... with a certain one already taking credit this morning for getting Big Ten football up and running this fall. Sorry if that is too political, but it is a fact.
  7. Agree. I feared they would do this. The playoffs are already something of a crapshoot, but at least the teams that got there stood out over 162 games. If they continue to let everyone in, it further reduces both the weight of the regular season and interest of the playoffs for me. So it's basically going to be the NBA? How long before they just seed the teams #1-#8?
  8. Now I really want to know what Counsell said that warranted the ejection. Did he call Molina a wuss or something? I mean, Molina is a lot of not very good things, but wuss is not one of them. That dude looks like he's made of shoe leather.
  9. So he's saying Braun swung the bat and hit Molina's glove on purpose? On a pitch he fouled off? OOOOKKKK. What a tool. When you look at the replay, Molina's glove was 100% in the swing radius. Braun didn't change up his swing. I suppose it's possible that be was standing further back in the box than he typically does.
  10. Granted, you have to wonder how much the Cardinal hitters were ramped up to hit in a 18-3 game, but his stuff looked great tonight. If he can start pitching in some higher leverage situations, that would be huge. Maybe they wouldn't be so deathly afraid to pitch Hader more than an inning at a time with arms like Williams, Rasmussen and a rejuvenated Knebel around?
  11. Hit 97 on the gun in O'Neil's AB. He looked good. Curve ball was popping. Boy would it be nice if he found his location again.
  12. Dan Vogelbach being this team's most professional, complete hitter is quite possibly the most 2020 occurrence yet.
  13. so ... can someone explain to me why Tyrone Taylor spent most of his summer getting take-out at the Appleton Perkins?
  14. I do find it pretty ironic that Jedd Gyorko and Brett Anderson, Stearns' two moves most vilified this past offseason, have been the two that have worked out the best. It's just been pretty much every other move that has not worked out so well, to put it lightly.
  15. Wonder if they'll just leave Anderson our there to throw 140 pitches tonight with the double bill again tomorrow?
  16. LOL Cardinals. Gosh I hope the Brewers take two from them tomorrow, and they just go away. But they'll never go away.
  17. Schildt is running around getting in people's faces. No mask. Team lost a ton of games due to COVID. Screw that guy.
  18. This team has seemed like they've done ok against the good pitchers. It's the scrubs they've made look like Cy Young candidates. Regarding the poster above, he never shows up when the team is playing well. Which is his prerogative I suppose.
  19. I think the overriding answer and $$$ and pending litigation. I don't think these university presidents quite understood just how many student athletes (and those athletes' parents) would put athletic competition ahead of health and safety.
  20. I think it's pretty obvious by now that Gyorko is the everyday 1B, whether we like it or not. Urias is going to see most of the time at 3B. I wish they would call Healy up and give him some time at 1B and 3B.
  21. Makes me wonder if there were anti-Polio vaxxers back in the day ...
