  1. Was Gary injured? Or did he not play a snap? I've wondered how much his shoulder is still bothering him. Perhaps he's been fighting something off that he'll have surgery for in the offseason. I still think Christian Wilkins would have been a better pick. I would have picked Jeffrey Simmons myself. That guy is gonna be a stud. But that's water under the bridge at this point. The Packers don't pick as high as #12 often. They need Gary to hit. That's the only way they are going to stack up against a team like the 49ers, who have drafted very well in recent years (albeit with higher picks than the Packers).
  2. Fackrell is a guy. He's replaceable. In 2018, Fackrell led the league in sacks per 100 rushes. With the Smiths on the team this year, his job has been more to drop back in coverage, which he did a lot of in 2018 as well. He's perhaps their best coverage LB. He's a good, quality backup. There's a reason he played a lot more snaps than Gary. And that reason is not "Gary is terrible", no matter what a strong contingent of Packers Twitter wants you to believe. Fackrell is a free agent, though, and I could see another team that is desperate for Edge depth signing him for moderate starter money. He's never going to be an All-Pro, but he's a solid role player that plays hard every snap and is assignment-sure. I could very easily see a team like the Patriots sign him.
  3. He's fine, but also prone to mistakes. Will be interesting to see if the Chiefs play the run to put the spotlight on him. That's what I would do. It's not that teams aren't playing the run against them, it's just that they're powerless to stop it. The 49ers could have had anyone playing QB and mopped the floor with us last night. That's the scary thing. I mean, the 49ers are a good rushing team, but their regular season numbers don't point to anything like they did last night. They had some stinker rushing games this year (34 yards against Arizona Nov. 17, 87 against Seattle Nov. 11, 99 against the Rams Oct. 13 on 44 attempts). The Chiefs did a pretty solid job bottling up the hottest RB in football yesterday too. I expect the Chiefs to have a plan in place for dealing with Mostert, just like they did against Henry. They have the talent on defense to do it, too. Of course, I thought the Packers did as well, and we all saw how that turned out.
  4. David Stearns could look like a hero this week by announcing a big personnel move for the Brewers. Wisconsin sports fans are understandably down in the dumps. With On Deck coming next weekend, announcing something to excite the fanbase would be a much needed and appreciated respite now that winter has officially set in with the end of the Packers' run.
  5. That's a good point. I think by a receiver's 2nd year, you should know if you have something there. Allison is just a guy ... probably a fine #5 receiver. MVS is fast, but that's really his only attribute. He is not a quick-twitch guy, doesn't run good routes, and isn't super aware. I think the Packers realized that this season, and that's why he fell down the depth chart. I personally think that there's a chance that Tyler Ervin grows into that role as a #3-4 RB, slot receiver and returner. He's got some much-needed speed and wiggle. I hope he's back. I'm excited to see St. Brown back next year too. He's got Lazard's size, but with much better speed. He was really coming on at the end of his rookie year in 2018.
  6. He's fine, but also prone to mistakes. Will be interesting to see if the Chiefs play the run to put the spotlight on him. That's what I would do.
  7. Not a ton of interest, other than I am in a pretty high-stakes playoff fantasy game. I need Damien Williams and Deebo Samuel to have awesome games, while Raheem Mostert and Tyreek Hill go missing. Very slim, but at least it gives me a reason to watch. It should be a great game. If KC can find a way to shut down that SF rush and make Garrapolo play QB, they should win.
  8. I don't know if he's bad so much as he's misused and depended on too much in this system, due to a complete lack of talent at ILB other than him. Oren Burks has been a supreme disappointment. He was supposed to be that uber-athletic TE-covering sideline-to-sideline guy. You get one of those guys, Martinez looks a ton better.
  9. Rodgers hasn’t been very good since 2015, and his first half performance killed any chance we had tonight. MVP? I don’t think he’s a top 10 QB What do you expect him to do when his 2nd leading WR is a running back and he literally has 1 other pass catcher that belongs on the football field? Lazard is interesting but he’s a #4 or at best a #3 right now. Scantling is a bust as is Allison. Graham is near the end, Marcedes Lewis is a blocker. Valdez-Scantling was a 5th round pick, and Allison was a rookie free agent. Those guys just are what they are. You can't call a player a bust when they really had no expectations to but from. They were expecting a lot from Valdez-Scantling after he flashed last year, but he's just too limited. This draft is loaded with WR talent. It's time to get one of the top guys and develop a weapon opposite Adams. Or sign a better FA receiver.
  10. The Packers will have money to play with this offseason, and will likely be able to make 2-3 pretty big signings. How good would someone like Amari Cooper look at WR (or Breshad Perriman), or Chris Jones at DE? ILB isn't real great, but Joe Schobert or Danny Trevathan would be good fits. Cory Littleton from the Rams would be a perfect fit next to Martinez if he re-signs. It's time to devote some resources to that spot. Boy, how much cash did Derrick Henry make himself the last couple months?
  11. Was Gary injured? Or did he not play a snap? He played ... not much, though. And was pretty invisible. Calling him a bust at this point is the king of stupid takes, but next season is huge for that guy. He needs to be productive enough to get on the field on a regular basis, regardless of the Smiths. And it's up to Pettine (or whoever the D Coordinator is) to get production out of a guy with that kind of talent.
  12. Rodgers was pretty pedestrian (for him at least) and this team with 13-3, and just lost the NFC Championship in a head coach's first year. I think it's ludicrous to say that they team can't make another Super Bowl with Rodgers at QB. I do agree that it is time to draft and develop a successor. We know absolutely nothing about Boyle, but I would be surprised if he's the heir apparent.
  13. Fackrell is a guy. He's replaceable. Again, you shouldn't be looking at him as a starter, which he isn't and shouldn't be. As a reserve rusher, he's fine. He needs to be accounted for, which is better than a lot of reserve defenders. He's not 100% safe, but I'd be at about 95% he's on next year's team, in a reserve edge role again.
  14. I started Mostert in DraftKings. So there's that. He won my fantasy league for me. He burned me in a big-money playoff league I'm in. before this weekend, I was in 3rd place, and was the only one with two QBs still alive (Mahomes and Rodgers). Didn't have Mostert, though, and I doubt I'll be able to make up enough points to win it. Still hopefully in the money though.
  15. Fackrell is perfect as a backup edge player. He gives great effort and is all over the field. He isn't going anywhere. They need more from Gary, though. He needs to be a situational pass rush weapon. Showed flashes, but not enough of them. Martinez is fine if you can stack a speed 'backer next to him. Lancaster is a space eater, and that's it. He's replaceable.
  16. This is a team that defied every expectation. Yeah, they didn't look good today, but that doesn't mean that the season wasn't a huge success. For a team with a rookie head coach and coming off two terrible years to do what they did is an accomplishment.
  17. A Kansas City/San Fran Super Bowl could very well be one hell of a game.
  18. Yep, this was one hell of an entertaining season. If you can't find joy in how the Packers played this year, I'm not real sure what to tell you.
  19. And if you can't hack it in the postseason than none of that in the regular season actually mattered at all. Everyone knows this team has major flaws. They are on display tonight.
  20. Packers defense has no chance of stopping the 49ers. Only hope is the 49ers offense makes a mistake.
  21. Wow, what a deep shot. Where has that been the last couple months?
  22. Then to follow it up with the most pathetic looking onside attempt in history. Ugh.
  23. Yeah ... not saying that he shouldn't be fired, but I doubt it will happen.
