  1. Pretty funny to go back and read the first part of this thread, and the IGTs at the time when he was brought up every time the pen faltered, and take a look at who was really pushing for a Kimbrel signing, and how they ripped on Brewers management when it didn't happen. Lets just say they were REALLY barking up the wrong tree. I was so wrong on that front. Talk about a bad signing, it would have kept us from possibly going to the playoffs this year. Maybe next year too. You weren't the only one who was advocating signing him. I'm not going to mention any names, but there was one poster in particular who brought up Kimbrel in pretty much every IGT whenever anyone in the pen struggled, without fail. It got really old pretty quick. In any case, we are all wrong at times. Owning it is tough, but commendable.

  3. If this is Grisham's "terrible", we need more terrible.
  4. I disagree, He wasn't sent down because of his defense, he was sent down so we could give Shaw another shot to get right. Shaw failed, and in the meantime, our offense had continued to fail as well. Hiura is a major boost to the offense, that can't be argued. It was still a failure to send him down, defense be damned. They eventually decided that they needed the bat in the lineup, defense be damned. I still think he was originally sent down because his defense blows. They had a change of heart.
  5. I don't want to hear another person try to tell me the Brewers messed up in sending Keston down back in the early part of the season. It's because he can't play defense. Plain and simple.
  6. I feel like there was another poster in the IGTs (not BC92) that would bring up Kimbrel whenever the pen struggled. A little egg on face there.
  7. I love that Craig Kimbrel is so bad! It is terrific!
  8. I'm still really good with a split in this series, as long as the Brewers continue to take care of business. Would love to go into Tuesday's game 1 game down for the division with a two game cushion on the Cubs.
  9. The way they've used him this whole season, and continue to use him, indicates that he's pretty high on the totem pole. I think unless he completely implodes in the next week, he's on the playoff roster.
  10. I sure as heck would work him in over the next week 2-3 more times. After seeing that, I'm kinda bummed he's been sitting in the dugout for three weeks not doing much of anything. I'm not.......he had outings better then that a number of times this year.......BA would fawn over him and say things like " maybe this is the turning point for Burnes" ... ...it never was. This was the perfect scenario to get him an inning. If we have a 9 run lead again I'm glad to have him finish up.......I want him no where near anything meaningful this season.....and I'm a fan of his. He just needs to start over fresh next season and hope this was all just a bad dream. Yeah, I'm kinda hoping/banking on some lopsided wins over the next week. I think ending the season on a good note could be very valuable for Burnes going forward.
  11. I suppose "given up" might be too harsh. They certainly look pretty listless playing out the string, though. The Blue Jays beat the Yankees tonight. These guys are all professionals. I think it's easy for us to watch a game through a tv and see someone losing a game and say "they're not trying/they have no heart" and try to draw conclusions, but sometimes a team is just getting beat by someone playing better on a given day. The Cubs outscored this Pirates team 47-16 last weekend. I totally get that they are all professionals, but I also think that sometimes teams get to a point in the season where perhaps their hearts aren't really in it anymore.
  12. I think Pomeranz is a pretty solid bet
  13. I'm kinda hoping the Cubs pull out the next two against the Cardinals now. That's about the only way the Brewers still have a shot at the division now.

  16. He is probably just working on things on the side with either the bullpen coach or the pitching coach. Or against a trainwreck of an MLB team who has obviously given up.
  17. I'm pretty sure Bobby Wahl still has options. There are also some guys who need to be added to the 40-man roster to protect them from being taken in the Rule 5 draft who could be on the shuttle.
  18. I didn't know a "Poor Man's Jacob Barnes" was possible without declaring bankruptcy?
  19. Human beings who are playing a game for a living. Personally I think the whole Cardinal unwritten rule "play the game the right way" stuff is crap. Most of these guys are going to have a career that spans less than 6-7 years in the majors. Have fun while you're out there, regardless of how your skills stack up. Because once you're done, that's it. You'd have a hard time wiping the smile off my face if I were a big leaguer and I don't care how bad I performed. I know you're joshing a bit, but that's not really what I'm saying. Of course you want to perform. But I don't see anything wrong with showing some personality on the field while you're trying to do that.
  20. I assume he will survive the 40 man this off season and they'll make a decision during spring training, but he's out of options and his initial showing with the Brewers hasn't been impressive. He's the perfect candidate fro their pitching research facility in Arizona. The stuff is there. It's obvious. The command sucks.

  22. Brewcrewin07 two nights ago in the GT. Didn't show for a month, dropped in just to leave that gem, and disappeared into the night again. He's had a couple other posts since then. Sporadic.
  23. Brewcrewin07 stopped watching NFL Primetime reruns long enough for that drive-by a couple days ago.
