  1. Before tonight, yeah. Not really. I'm a big Grisham fan, and I really think he's going to eventually be a good player for this team. But his .222 average, .294 OBP and 32% K rate entering tonight says otherwise.
  2. Yay, we can put Trent Grisham in the "Good" category again! That looked like one of by drives off the third tee.
  3. Austin is the guy you want up against a crap lefty.
  4. I'm glad Shaw is at least good on defense, because his bat is like having another pitcher in the lineup.
  5. I think Arcia makes that play look pretty routine. And Perez isn't even a bad SS defensively. Arcia is that much better.
  6. OK, offense, you are facing one of the top 2-3 worst pitching staffs in baseball. Time to put up a crooked number and get out of here for the night.
  7. That's rough. Jackson got the ground ball he wanted.
  8. Man, Freddy has the chance to be so good someday. I really hope that someday is sooner, rather than 2-3 years from now after the Brewers give up on him, and he's pitching for the Cardinals.
  9. I foresee this conversation leading to virtual fisticuffs.
  10. Agreed, but our manager is hell bent on tinkering as much as possible with the lineup, at any given moment. Roster has 600 players right now, and no shortstops LOL
  11. He's gotten so many crap calls lately I feel like he was kinda owed one.
  12. Be careful ... between this and the "Bud Selig isn't a deity" talk, someone is gonna be upset. It's so strange to me that someone who hates our current owner loves Selig so much. I just find it odd. But yes, Freitas is no bueno. Glad he figured out AAA pitching by 30 years old though. I admit that i was intrigued by what Freitas was doing in AAA to the point where I was frustrated that he wasn't being given a shot. But I was skeptical. Granted it's a very small sample, but that hot bat has not carried over at all.

  14. Moose and Hiura wouldn't be playing SS unless it was an absolute emergency, though. I would think finding a 40-man spot for one of those minors guys would be the preference over giving those guys any time at SS. They probably just need a body to cover middle infield innings until Arcia comes back against the Cardinals. Or perhaps they just tough it out with the guys they have.
  15. Honestly, the only options really are Orf, Jake Hager, or stealing someone like Hinojosa or Aviles from the AA team. or ... Craig Counsell, player-manager! Options are Perez and worst case scenario Spangenberg. Not Orf or any of those other guys. Not when the question is "Who can they pull up from the minors for middle infield coverage while Arcia is on Paternity Leave?" I thought that was the implied question. There was no way dj was advocating bring up Orf and starting him at SS.
  16. All those names could well be targets for Boston. So could Stearns as he already engineered a quick rebuild/ retooling... Time will tell to see where Boston ends up.. Wouldn't surprise me to see them take a look at Matt Arnold. Part of a few successful rebuilds already, and experience in the AL East with Tampa.

  18. Yeah, you can't walk someone up five runs in the 9th. I would rather you groove a 80MPH fastball than do that. He looked pretty good his first time out last week, but obviously struggled yesterday. The stuff is better, but the command is still iffy. I think we'll see him again, but it's going to be mop-up roles with very short hooks. But our pen arms coming in with leads and proceeding to walk guys is not a new development. They've been doing it all year.
  19. 4 gamer @ Mia: have to find a way to take 3 of 4 3 gamer @ St. Louis: would be great to take two, but I'm guessing they take 1 of 3 4 gamer home against San Diego: this should be a series they can take 3 of 4 3 gamer home against Pittsburgh: they are going to need a sweep in here somewhere, and this might be the series to take 3 of 3 3 gamer @ Cincy: they have played the Reds better of late, and the Reds will be in a spoiler role obviously by this time. Still, this series scares me. Hopefully they can take 2 of 3 3 gamer @ Colorado: If things go according to the plan above, the team will be sitting at 86 wins. I don't know if 87 or 88 wins gets them a WC spot this year. They might need a sweep to finish at 89 wins. Now obviously this is pretty optimistic, and you can never predict a sweep, but if this team gets hot, and finally plays the way it should against perceived lesser competition, a 90-win season isn't impossible. Of course, this team has put a lot of bad baseball on tape this season as well, so anything can happen.
  20. Extremely small sample obviously, but Taylor looks like he belongs so far. Game isn't too big for him.
  21. Exactly what I thought reading the IGT after the lineup came out. Baseball is awesome.
