  1. Grandal has made a lot of money over the last couple weeks. Guess it’s Moose’s time to cash in. I too would love to see both back, but it’s gonna be costly.
  2. This is why guys like Davante Adams are worth their weight in gold. No drama, no diva issues. Just shows up and plays. Donald Driver was very similar, as was Greg Jennings until the end when he went off the rails. Jordy ... Cobb. The position tends to attract some pretty toxic egos. Packer fans should consider themselves lucky that they've avoided those types for the most part.
  3. If a receivers gives himself up, the play should be blown dead, regardless of if he's touched.
  4. I don't think anyone was trying to sell that they would. Even the most optimistic of fans realizes that this is a blow.
  5. The offense hasn't been bad so much as its's been inconsistent. And I agree that losing Yelich likely isn't going to make it more inconsistent. I'm hoping that it has the opposite effect, that maybe a few of these guys step up their game knowing that the Yelich crutch is no longer available. Looking directly at Cain and Braun here.
  6. We'll probably never know whether Smith was ever on the table for Dubon, but given the choice of a partial season of Smith or a partial season of Pomeranz, and 6 years of Black, I think I'd choose the latter. Given his age and lack of track record, I'm still not sure we get 1 more year of Black, let alone 6. I don't know what to make of Black so far. He's gotten the job done for the most part, but there hasn't been much substance to it. It's been a lot more pitching to contact than I would have expected. But if he can keep the walks low that is a good sign. Obviously it is a pretty small sample, but Black hasn't shown me anything so far to indicate that he won't be a regular member of the pen next season. Next couple weeks are going to be big for him, as Counsell has started using him in higher leverage situations. Things can obviously change, but as of right now, his spot in the 2020 pen is secure.
  7. We certainly haven't agreed on much this season, but I'm with you on this. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that a team used an injured superstar as rally fuel. This team no longer has any expectations. They are going to be everyone's underdog, and are basically playing with house money at this point. Other players are going to have to step up, and Counsell is going to have to manage out of his mind. Can it happen? Maybe, maybe not. But I'm sure as heck going to enjoy the ride.
  8. I totally get the doom and gloom this morning, but this isn't even a logical choice. The two scenarios (the Brewers making the playoffs and Yelich's recovery time) have absolutely nothing to do with each other. You’re missing my point. Of course the two things aren’t related and there is no choice to make. I’m just expressing my opinion that whether or not the Brewers make the playoffs this year is much less important to me than Yelich’s future, which has a significant impact on the team, and how entertaining the team will be to follow for the next couple of years. I am anxiously awaiting a report from a doctor who has actually examined Yelich. Hopefully we will get that within a few days. I am still haunted by Nelson’s injury for which the reports were that it was very significant and that he would be out for “much of the first half” of the 2018 season. We have seen how that worked out. I realize that getting back to their prior form is even harder for pitchers with significant arm or shoulder injuries. But I also remember how quickly Larry Hisle’s promising Brewers career came to an end. My question would be, then, why put yourself through the gauntlet of negatively those two scenarios present? Losing Yelich sucks. But this team has been held together by duct tape and binder twine for months now, and they are still alive. They are alive until they aren’t. Might as well enjoy these last 2 1/2 weeks of games, as the current Brewers really have no expectations and will be everyone's underdog.
  9. What happened last night is just another chapter in a storyline that Hollywood execs are going to to eventually be drooling over.

  12. I think it's just frustration. Most fans are already bummed enough tonight without the immediate worst case scenario unfounded speculation.
  13. Seriously? This is the kind of irresponsible rhetoric that I hate about the internet. Throwing out an opinion with absolutely zero basis in fact. What you're "feeling" is completely ridiculous. It's a broken knee cap, not a soft tissue tear. I've had one. Two years ago, I fell and split my left patella into two pieces. I was on bed rest for two months, as there was one little part of the bone that was still connected, and doing so, my orthopedic surgeon hoped to avoid surgery. Doctor put a soft cast on it. Outside of getting up to use the restroom, or taking a bath, I was stuck in bed for the whole time, 24/7, because my bones are naturally weaker. The knee healed fine, and you'd never know it was injured. Regardless of the kind of fracture, be it a hairline break, or something more substantial, the likelihood of there being any kind of complications from this going forward are slim. If it's a serious fracture, they'll out some hardware in place, and the bone will heal. Have you seen the kind of shape this guy is in? His body physiology is off the charts. He'll heal fine, and I expect we'll see Yelich back at 100% for the start of spring training. It sucks he got hurt. I feel for him. And, it probably costs him a second straight MVP. He was leading the award index coming into the day. But let's not start in with the, "he might never be the same again" stuff. Especially with today's medical technology. +1 million I know this is the age of social media and "shoot from the hip" hot takes, but it is still possible to go over the top.
  14. I've heard of the Madden Curse and Sports Illustrated Curse, but I didn't know there was an ESPN the Magazine Body Issue curse.
  15. If this team does manage to go on a run now ... it has gone from a good story to Hollywood-type stuff. Just the fact that they have managed to overcome all the crap that has happened so far and still have themselves in solid contention for a playoff spot says a lot.
  16. Do you not consider the Wild Card the postseason? Because if the scores hold up tonight, they are 1 game out of that. Hardly a miracle with 19 to play. I took it as it would be a miracle for this team to go on a run and actually win a world series - there's always a chance, but realistically I don't think any of us view the brewers as a dangerous postseason opponent even with yelich considering the pitching staff, particularly when they would have to go back to a 25 man postseason roster. That's a whole different deal. But he said make the postseason. Which this team surprisingly stands a halfway decent shot of doing.

  18. Why would they? They have 5 OFs still on the active roster, and Perez, Spangenberg and Austin who can also play out there.
  19. No one I imagine. They still have 5 OFs on the active roster in Braun, Cain, Grisham, Gamel and Taylor. Perez, Spangenberg and Austin can play out there as well. Plenty of OFs to fill those innings.
  20. If they go into this situation thinking that they can, they already lost. Other guys, namely Braun, Grisham and Gamel, and maybe even Taylor, need to step up. Moose needs to get back in the lineup tomorrow and hit. Hiura needs to come back soon and hit. And yes, they are going to need a positive contribution out of Shaw at some point.
  21. It really isn't. Rare injury in baseball, but actually a pretty common football injury. Most guys make a full recovery in 3-4 months.
  22. Players knew in the 4th inning, and held it together to take the game. This sucks ... it's a bad, bad deal. But there are a bunch of other very talented players on this team.
  23. From what I've seen, its a tough rehab, but he should be able to make a full recovery in 3-4 months.
  24. I get what you're saying, but at the same time, it certainly wouldn't be the first time that a team rallied and played above their heads to make up for a superstar going down. You see it more often in football ... but it has happened in baseball too.
  25. Trent Grisham is now a fulltime player. No reason to platoon him. He'll step in in RF and take all of Yelich's innings. Ben Gamel takes on a bigger role as well as the main backup OF, and needs to be ready. It is possible that Tyrone Taylor sees a decent amount of time as well. Yelich obviously is not replaceable, but the rest of the lineup has to step up to fill that massive hole.
