  1. In this case you are correct, as it appears the Twins haven't adjusted their rotation. But really ... scratching your head? It is pretty obvious that several teams have adjusted their rotations this season in order to match up lefty pitchers against this lineup. Frankly, Perez has been bad the last month ... so bad that he would be the type who would otherwise be skipped in a rotation to keep the other guys on their regular schedule. But that isn't going to happen against an offense that seemingly struggles to hit pretty much any lefty. I'll just agree to disagree with you that the RH/LH thing is overblown. This team was built to hit righties, and it seems like they are facing an inordinate amount of lefties this season as a result. That may not truly be the case, but in my small mind, it seems that way.
  2. Teams are going to do it the rest of the year against the Brewers. The front office made this bed, and now they are unfortunately forced to sleep in it. I totally understand that lefty power plays well in Miller Park, but this team went overboard with it, and is now paying the price. Generally agree and all. However, for the blame game they couldn't have really expected Cain to fall off so drastically this year, so that should be a good bat vs LHP. Braun has been fairly good all year but his normal LHP mashing hasn't been there. They got a switch hitting C and a backup who's RH. 1st base they had a RH Platoon all star who flopped. Soooo, they're colossal mistake in team building was not getting a RH 3B/2B instead of Moose and not predicting Jesus would flop? The 4th OF make sense to be LH due to Braun being RH. Oh no doubt. The guys paid to hit lefties this season have seemingly underperformed in that role, which magnifies the problem perhaps to a grander level than what it really is. When you combine that with a roster with a couple of guys like Thames and Shaw who should never face a lefty pitcher, it really hamstrings you. Yelich has been good against lefties, and Moose hasn't been a trainwreck against them, so that has helped.
  3. I think this team has proven this year that they don't always make the moves that you, me, any of us (or really, logic and common sense) dictates that they make.
  4. He went 6 innings last Wednesday against the Braves, so he's going on 6 days rest tonight. He's also been pretty bad for the last month or so. But today would probably be his normal turn.
  5. I have a difficult time understanding why they haven't given the guy at least a cup of coffee. I think those AAA stats are largely a mirage, but at some point the guy's numbers are so other-worldly that there has to be some substance to them. No mirage, watching this guy hit, which I’ve been doing the last couple weeks, he’s a great hitter, doesn’t strike out, doesn’t have great power, but puts the bat on the ball, like Grisham, with authority. Juiced ball not helping him as much as other AAA sluggers, I’m convinced if given 300+ AB’s he’ll hit .300 in the big leagues. Him and Pina are gonna do just fine next year as our C’s Looking that the batting numbers that sub-middling hitters like Spangenberg, Saladino, Orf, Dubon, Shaw and Hager have put up this year in AAA tells me that hitting stats at that level are very much a mirage. It tells me that not only is the ball likely juiced, it doesn't break like it should, either, which is basically putting it on a tee for these guys. A juiced ball helps more than just power hitters.
  6. Ha, getting kinda used to Stearns poor decision making with regards to the roster, so whatever. I might have started out as the “resident Freitas fan” but most on this board have come around to the fact that this “Journeyman” is more than that, and will probably help the big league team moving forward. Just joshing a little ... I actually agree with you. I'm not real sure what else he has to do to earn a promotion. Perhaps if he boosted that average to .400? Actually, its obvious that he hasn't struck out enough to get the front office's attention. Also, he bats with the wrong hand.
  7. Teams are going to do it the rest of the year against the Brewers. The front office made this bed, and now they are unfortunately forced to sleep in it. I totally understand that lefty power plays well in Miller Park, but this team went overboard with it, and is now paying the price. Simple move today would have been to option Gamel to make room for Freitas, with Grandal getting some off days. Imo, Grandal is worn down, slow bat, 6 week slump, needs to rest. Why this isn’t being done, with Yelich back now is causing me to lose faith in Stearns even more than I already have this year with his chronic mismanagement of the roster. So I imagine you're gonna be a little mad when Tyler Austin is getting those RHH 1B reps in a week or so ...
  8. @Joelsherman1 Hear that Tyler Austin is signing a minor league deal with the #Brewers Austin is a RHH 1B ... 27 years old. Has bounced around. Twitter speculation that he could serve as a platoon partner with Thames, but I don't know. What I do know is that if Austin gets the call over David Freitas, our resident Freitas fan is going to have an aneurism.

  11. I think Houser is inching his way toward locking down a spot in next year's rotation. They'll have a lot fo depth going into next season. The question is whether the quality will be there.
  12. Probably won't do it now because he's almost ready to come back. Although you would have to think they didn't anticipate him missing 6 games already or they might have used the dl. It's a mystery. It isn't the first time this has happened, and it doesn't get any less infuriating. This is the exact reason MLB switched from 14 to 10 days, and the Brewers haven't really gotten it in my opinion.
  13. I know you have cut the brake lines, but drag your feet, downshift, do something, because you really need to tap the brakes on some of your prospect love.
  14. Today is the sixth day in a row Yelich has not played. At this point why not put him on the IL, backdate it as far as you can, and get Freitas on the roster? An extra bat couldn't hurt.
  15. Corbin Burnes with an "EEK" line tonight for San Antonio. Nine ERs in 2 2/3 innings. Something tells me he won't be up again until September, and when (if?) he does come back up, he'll be the designated mop-up guy ... perhaps a step above Perez.
  16. LOL ... this aged well. The beautiful reverse jinx I don’t even know if it had time to age Yeah, I think that was the quickest three outs they've gotten this year. I totally get why you weren't optimistic that the pen would get out of it. It's pretty much pins and needles time whenever any reliever is in the game now.
  17. The Toyota commercial where their annoyingly perky spokesperson lady sings a country song duet trying to con people into buying a 2019 model wasn't horrible when it first started about a week ago, but it has gotten grating with the 1,940th viewing since then. I mean, I get that Toyota is a pretty big Brewers sponsor, but can't they air a different commercial once in a while?
  18. You want Freitas up? I never would have guessed? First I'm hearing of it!
  19. They don't have a choice. The rotation is in shambles, and those that remain aren't trusted to go past 5 innings. They are going to have to identify at least two more arms that can be trusted in close games if they what to legitimately contend for a playoff spot.
  20. Did the problems really need exposing? I think everyone in the league knows the pen is a dumpster fire.
