  1. Yeah, he has had a short leash. But he also hasn't shown anything to make me think anything other than that he's simply a AAAA soft-tosser who has no business being on an MLB roster. He's OK depth to keep around for emergency situations, but that's about it. They are going to give the guys with better stuff more of a look.
  2. You can watch the Brewers from anywhere in their coverage area on any streaming service that offers Fox Sports Wisconsin. That includes Hulu TV, YouTube TV, Playstation Vue, Fubo TV and DirecTV Now. I think blackout rules are kind of a thing of the past now. If you are out of the Fox Sports Wisconsin viewing area the only way you can get those games is streaming online. I posted about Sling Box earlier in this thread and that works for us in Florida. Yes, that is true. I think NievesNoNO was specifically talking about blackout restrictions within the viewing area, though. As far as I know, those rules no longer exist.
  3. For MVP, team wins matter. Bellinger will likely lead a 1st place team and best team in the NL, and that tips the scales for close calls on MVP. Also a team that has a stacked lineup and pitching staff. Take Bellinger out of that lineup, and that team is still winning 95+ games. How many wins do the Brewers have without Yelich?

  5. Not the hero we deserve, but he’s the one we need right now. Granted they were both only 5-inning starts, but Lyles has looked good. I wonder if the Brewers identified something he was doing as a Pirate that was leading to him getting the crap kicked out of him?
  6. Not pretty, but its a W. Nice to see the offense wake up. When was the last time we had an offensive explosion and also good pitching (not taking anything away from Lyles, as he was great again)?
  7. Kind of ironic that over the offseason these were the guys mentioned the most as getting cut (or wanting to get cut). Well, Trevor Davis is hurt again, so there's that. That's been the knock on him ... can't stay out of the training room. If they keep him, I fear they will be disappointed yet again.
  8. You just called up two guys who would make perfect sense to pitch the 8th with a 5 run lead. Why no Williams or Faria? Mind boggling.
  9. It can be backdated. He’ll be eligible to be activated at the end of this month.
  10. I would hope that, considering what they gave up, Black will be up shortly as well.
  11. +1 The thought of watching Taylor Williams sent a shudder down my spine. I'm excited to see Devin Williams and Faria though. I wonder who will start in Davies' spot? I saw on Twitter that Supak is lined up for that day.
  12. Taylor Williams was just optioned Aug. 1, and Faria was optioned July 31. Neither were down the requisite 10 days, so something is wrong here. Hopefully it's Devin Williams coming up, not Taylor. I asked McCalvy, and he says is Devin coming up. That's more fun.
  13. Guessing he was the injury replacement for Davies if not. Faria wasn't down 10 days either
  14. I don't understand how a young, seemingly uninjured pitcher with great stuff goes from being great to downright horrible. Really discouraging. The Brewers just can't catch a break with pitcher development. Woody was great this year, but seriously, come on.
  15. He has no options going into 2020. So if he doesn't make the opening day roster, there's no long-term. Hard to carry a project on the 25 man all year if you're expecting to contend. I would certainly hope that they see something in Black that tells them that he'll be a surefire member of the pen next year, because if they don't, I'm not sure what they're doing.
  16. Would you non-tender Travis Shaw? No ... I bring him back, but he's on an extremely short leash, especially if he doesn't show anything the rest of the year. Would you pickup Thames option? As long as there is really nothing in the pipeline for 1B options, yeah. I expect he and Braun to share time there next year. Anyway we can bring back Grandal and/or Moose? Doubtful, but without a surefire backup plan at 3B and C, I guess it wouldn't surprise me. I'm starting to think that Grandal just isn't a very good receiver, and that may be one of the reasons for the horrible location that the pitchers have had this year. I don't know ... has to be something though. Are we going to upgrade shortstop or just bring somebody to push Arcia? Yes, I would think the team will be on the hunt for a SS this offseason. How do we fill out the rotation besides these three... Woodruff Anderson Davies I think Houser has a spot in the rotation next year. He's been up and down, but I think he's shown enough to prove he's part of the future there. I suspect they either sign someone or give Burnes another shot as well. Decline the Jeffress option? I'm a huge Jeffress guy, and with the volatility relief pitchers show, I think bring him back. He may not be as good as he was last year, but he isn't as bad as what he's shown this year, either.
  17. Extremely small sample so far, but both Lyles and Pomeranz have been fine. I wish they would have done more, obviously, but the guys they did grab have been alright. If anything, the performance lately has proven than they were more than a couple pieces away from being a contender.
  18. I just don't think this team has the offensive consistency to reel off the 8-10 in a row they'd need to vault themselves back into contention. Starting pitching has been decent, and relief has been really inconsistent. But the offense over the last two weeks has been trash.
  19. Yeah, at this point, what's the harm in seeing if the breakout is a mirage? Gonna have to likely replace Grandal next year, and the catching depth chart is a mystery other than Pina.
  20. Losing Woody all this time hasn't helped either... Imo, losing Woodruff was the final nail in this season's coffin. We already had issues with starting pitching, and needed to add one TOR type arm at the deadline to have a decent 1-2 punch. Losing Woodruff meant we now needed at least 2 TOR type arms, and that was never going to happen. When he went down, our season went with him. Yup, this is a pretty negative take, but I think it is healthier to admit that we are toast than to carry on this psychological charade that we might just be able to get back in it. Not going to happen folks. Before this weekend I would have disagreed with this. But now? Yeah. The offense has given up. This was an offense built to destroy pitchers like Darvish, and he and the Cubs crappy relief staff made them look silly. These guys have checked out. Time to let the youngsters play, and see what you have going into next year.
