  1. Very astute take. Nailed it. Hopefully can be sold for 74 cents on the dollar this offseason. You want to trade Hader. Point made.
  2. David Freitas says hi to ya Harvey. A 30-year-old minor league FA catcher part-time moonlighting at 1B doesn't mean 1B isn't a need across the organization.
  3. All-around bad baseball. Not all around. Good baseball after the bad throw. Edit: Then a bad play by Grandal at 1B. D'oh!
  4. He got that save and looked absolutely electric. He's pretty much looked like crap since then.
  5. It kinda bugs me that the Mets are the hottest team in baseball right now. I was kinda enjoying them underperforming after all the spending they did this offseason.
  6. Braun just can't help himself on those low, outside sliders lately. He's been hitting so good otherwise.
  7. I'm not as drunk on bloated and likely useless AAA stats as some others, but I think it might be time to see what he can do at the big league level. Leash certainly doesn't need to be long on a 30-year-old journeyman, though. Bring him up and give him at-bats for 4-5 games, and if he doesn't produce, see-ya. He's already on the 40-man, so it would be a pretty easy move. Who do they cut to bring up Freitas? Pina is killing it against lefties. Thames? Do they cut Gamel to keep 3 catchers? Probably as simple as optioning Shaw again.

  9. Opposing teams are going to keep throwing out every crap lefty (like Allard) they can find against the Brewers until they start hitting them better. I'd do the same thing if I was the opposing manager. They need Yelich back hitting lefties, and Pina, Braun, Hiura, Cain and Arcia have to do their jobs. Getting Frietas up at some point probably wouldn't hurt either.
  10. Hire Jeff Gillooly to take out Yasmani's knee? Seriously, though, I'm as skeptical of offensive production as anyone with that league, but it's time to give this guy some starts to see if he can help at the ML level ... although the combo of Pina at C and Grandal at 1B against lefties hasn't been bad.
  11. 5-6 years? It seems like 5-6 months! The uber pessimists are mostly pretty new. I think a lot of it has to do with not only increased interest, but higher expectations. Many of the fans on the bandwagon can't understand why the bullpen isn't shutting teams down like it did last year. They just didn't pay attention as closely during the years where the bullpen looked and performed very similar to what they are doing this year, because the expectations just weren't there. Seriously? Rather ironic someone posted this a couple days ago: The offense has given up...........These guys have checked out. Time to let the youngsters play, and see what you have going into next year. You can't get much more pessimistic than saying players have given up and aren't trying to compete. Yep, I did say that. I'll own it. They were playing like crap, and I was at my wits end watching the offense flail away against a pitcher they should have hit. Wish I hadn't typed that, but I did. They've played better lately. I think everyone goes through stretches where they get down watching this team. I think I've been here long enough to say that I rarely get down on this team, but thanks for the ultimate judging post! Seems pretty petty to search out the one time I've gone negative. The uber pessimists, as pointed out, are negative on everything, all the time.
  12. If Shaw is back to form, he's the primary 3B, Moose at SS. If not... there are options. From off the top of my head: 1. Braun 3B, Moose SS 2. Moose 3B, Arcia SS 3. Erceg 3B, Moose SS 4. Moose 3B, Hager SS 5. Moose 3B, Saladino SS These are jokes I assume ? They are not. He's 100% serious.

  14. The sample is still very small, but if things continue along this track, there is going to need to be a "David Stearns trade deadline eat crow thread". The Brewers went into the trade deadline needing to shore up the starting rotation, and grab a couple bullpen pieces, and so far, that's exactly what they've done. Lyles has been good in his starter role, and should be able to easily transition to the pen if the rotation gets overcrowded. Pomeranz has look terrific in both his pen appearances and his spot start yesterday. Faria gave up a couple hard hit balls in his two-inning debut, but was effective enough to put a couple zeros up, and will fit into that pen nicely moving forward. The wild card is Ray Black. He throws absolute gas, and has shown well so far in AAA. I expect him to also be up shortly.
  15. Yeah ... another multi-inning reliever that you can trust out there would be a big deal in the very least. It doesn't appear that they are trying to stretch him out to start.
  16. But if you throw Drew Rasmussen into the mix... Just sayin'. Don't forget that Perdomo is setting up Rasmussen. After Wilkerson gives you a clean 7 innings.
  17. Ha. Ok, a couple lottery tickets will do. What? His stats aren’t good at all. Lots of hits, good number of walks, little to no strikeouts, nice amount of homers, and his stuff isn’t special. He is slightly above average over his career and has two years of control. While 55 grade is pretty broad...that seems bullish. I think BC92 was being serious. He hates Davies. Which is also an odd stance, because you need solid pitchers, but whatever.
  18. Marte was sitting on that. It was the same exact pitch that was called for a strike the pitch before. Odd pitch sequence. And by odd, I mean bad.
  19. Even with the day off tomorrow, I think they almost have to bring someone up for Friday. Pomeranz, Guerra and Williams all threw over 40 pitches, so I imagine they are going to be down a couple days.
  20. That was just a good piece of hitting. Tough pitch. Overall that was a good first impression by Williams. If Thames digs a ball he should have dug, that's two scoreless.
