  1. Best team in baseball to suddenly terrible? Yeesh.
  2. Here's hoping those two are the next Lewis Brinson and Monte Harrison. The Brewers simply can't afford for them to hit for a division rival.
  3. I don't know if I can think of anyone here who was ok with Henderson going back in a deal for Skubal. In fact, most were quite vocally adamantly against the idea.
  4. Woulda got an extra pick in the 2027 draft after Freddy signed a FA deal too.
  5. 19-10 Going to see a lot of low-scoring games with Harrison back and May inserted into the rotation. The more I look at May's numbers, the more it appears that he's a perfect fit for this team. Hopefully we will see the offense come alive.
  6. Unfortunately I just haven't seen any high-end bats that were available this year. Even the few power bats who have been dealt have big-time warts.
  7. Yeah, that return is much easier to stomach.
  8. I would love more power, but where would you put it? 3B I guess, but there isn't much out there who would be an upgrade from what we have. Jung maybe?
  9. The Brewers also got a very good late-inning reliever in Romero.
  10. Don't kill the messenger, but Rojas, the prospect the Cubs just dealt for Holmes, is pretty universally thought of as a better prospect than either of the two OFers the Brewers gave up.
  11. The return reeks of desperation on the Brewers' part. I have no doubt that they had offers on the table for Skubal, and probably a handful of the other starters and relievers who have already been dealt today, but as those guys got picked off, they were left having to deal with a division rival who gouged them. Live and learn. I personally would have preferred Holmes, but the Cubs just traded a Top 100 guy for him, so its obvious that Stearns had a high price on him.
  12. Also should be noted that Sawyer Strosnider and Kyle Jones are both high pick college OFs who will likely be in full-season ball next year. There are only so many innings available.
  13. May is a guy who can eat innings in August and September, and keep Miz, Harrison and Henderson fresh for October. He has playoff experience. After Skubal, he is squarely in that next tier of available starters. And Romero has been a solid LH reliever for a long time.
  14. Agreed. Weaver would be a terrific fit for the Brewers. I imagine the Pirates are going to be giving up a lot for him, though.
  15. Cubs system is pretty bad. I imagine their top prospect, Hartshorn (#60 on the Top 100) has to be going back, plus more.
  16. I'm all for not having to see anymore Thomas Pannone-types take the ball the rest of the season. With so many rookies and young guys in the rotation and on innings limits, it makes sense to grab a guy like Holmes. Remember, too, that he has a long background as a late-inning reliever, and the Brewers love their versatility.
  17. It is very possible that the Brewers have deals on the table, and are going through the channels as far as notifying players and running medical checks. They run a very tight ship, and don't let leaks get out like other teams do.
  18. Would be odd for the Mariners to want to do this deal after just acquiring Ward. Seems they are in buy mode too.
  19. Holmes has pitched well since coming back from injury, and obviously also has experience as a late-inning reliever. Might be an interesting chess piece. I wonder if Luke Weaver is also part of the talks? Kill two birds with one stone.
  20. The Brewers have a habit of making deadline moves that are kind of out of left field. I just think that odd move will be for a bat this year. No idea who.
  21. Ehh, is what it is. If they don't make those deals, I still get to cheer on the team with the best record in the majors tonight. But yes, I'd be very surprised if the Brewers don't take steps to try to improve before 5 p.m. tonight. I don't understand why some of you are already calling this trade deadline a failure when we still have 7+ hours to go.
