  1. Bingo! There were many around here lamenting the Brewers' chances of competing last year in a "much improved" NL Central as well. Of course, we all know how that turned out. The Brewers took the division in a convincing fashion.
  2. I guess the doom and gloomer in me kind of expected news like this to come out. The surgery Yelich had has a very good success rate, but it also has a pretty serious recovery time for a normal person, much less a professional athlete. Add in the idea that Yelich has never really been known to be a fast healer, it makes some sense. Here's hoping that we see him on the field before May.
  3. As a top prospect, Boeve will get action in big league games in Spring Training. He just isn't in the official big league camp.
  4. Pretty much all that is left on the FA 3B market are guys like Ty France, Patrick Wisdom, Joey Gallo, Brian Anderson, Aledmys Diaz, Nick Ahmed, and Jace Peterson. Basically guys in their early to mid-30s, who have played 3B in the past but aren't exactly great out there, and are looking at minor league deals.
  5. Ah yes, we've reached the "pissed because my team didn't sign a guy who has been bad since 2019" part of the offseason. That's like #5 on the 7 stages of grief.
  6. PECOTA NEVER likes the Brewers' chances. That said, I get it. Adames left as a free agent, and they dealt the best reliever in MLB for a decent #3-4ish starter and a prospect. They have yet to make any significant upgrades to the team.
  7. As do every team's. Sure, you can make shrewd moves to increase your chances, but in the end, it still takes hitting the postseason at the right time and the ball bouncing your way more often than not. Well, except maybe for that super team they've manufactured in L.A.
  8. Getting hits is good. But when Arraez gets on, he is basically a base clogger, which isn't so good. His game isn't really a great fit for the Brewers' current offensive philosophy, which I see as tremendous speed on the basepaths, getting guys in scoring position, and manufacturing runs ... and, of course, hitting an occasional dinger.
  9. Correct, the Garza deal turned out pretty horrible after his solid 2014 season. Therein lies the risk of those types of deals, though. They can turn out poorly, and the Brewers are not in the financial position to simply write them off, unfortunately. The bigger the move, the bigger the calculated risk. The Brewers' front office has proven very calculating in their gambles. Which often leads to frequently boring offseasons, unfortunately.
  10. I may have gotten a little out of line, and if you were offended by anything personal I posted, I apologize. However, I don't believe it is out of line for anyone to ask you to back up your takes with specifics, especially considering the ways you have presented them.
  11. If you honestly believe that is the reason why you got two "thumbs down" on that comment, I have a bridge to sell you 🤣 Look, I get it. I will honestly say that I am getting frustrated that we've reached the end of January, and a team who most everyone expects to be the favorite to once again win their division has only made one significant move, and that was SUBTRACTING their All-World closer. While the roster appears pretty well put together, there are certainly still some holes that could be upgraded, most significantly 3B. I'm intrigued by the kid they got back in the Williams deal, but handing him the 3B job without any better plan is the type of move a bottom-dweller makes, not a team with World Series aspirations. There are also plenty of guys out there that would be a rotation upgrade. I expect some significant moves in the next few weeks, and if nothing happens, I will truly be disappointed/mad.
  12. Also picked up Civale for Gregory Barrios, who was just outside the Top 20 at the time. They got Nick Mears for Bradley Blalock, who is a top 20 type. Mark Canha for Justin Jarvis in 2023. And of course, Estuary Ruiz for Contreras. So these types of deals do happen. Pretty often actually.
  13. OK ... considering how long teenage prospect take to hit the majors, go back, say, 6 years or so and look at the Brewers' top 20. By my count, 14 of the 20 played in the majors, Go back to 2016, and its 13. Go back to 2014, and its 17. Granted, not all of those players have had long MLB careers, but a good portion of them have. To answer your question about "how many SS and CF prospects do we really need?", that answer is a lot, as the players who play those positions are typically the best athletes, which makes them more versatile and makes it substantially easier to change positions later on. That, sir, is not a new conept.
  14. Simple, right? I mean, all those trades are accepted when I play MLB The Show! How is real life any different?
  15. Most of? I don't know if that is necessarily correct. You speak with a lot of "certainties". So how about this ... put some specifics out there. Which of our top 20 prospects would you deal? And for whom?
  16. Could Attanasio spend more on payroll and improve the team? I think there is no denying that answer is yes. But looking at other ownership situations in MLB makes me think that Brewer fans actually have it pretty good. Anyone who lived through the 70s or that roughly 1984-2005ish era lived through much, much worse. When you consider that, watching this team be run well and regularly make the playoffs is pretty dang awesome.
  17. There is no denying Mitchell's defensive chops. He's an absolute stud out there. Staying healthy is the key. Don't forget about Perkins, either. He's another elite defender.
  18. LOL ... sure Bub.
  19. So ... if I'm reading this correctly, you want the Brewers to only trade the prospects who are likely to "fizzle out" for proven MLB studs, who likely come with a high price tag? Sounds easy enough. MLB teams are typically lining up to participate in those types of deals. Seems like a good plan! What are they waiting for???
  20. This is the first time I've heard that. Thank you for posting it. Yes, he knew. You can hear the hurt in his voice. Just one of the many great sidekicks that Ueck has had over the years.
