  1. Who is left at AAA worthy of a call-up? Jay Jackson? Sanchez? Perdomo? Gotta keep trying until you find one that isn’t a gas can.
  2. Winning two out of three or one out of three doesn’t change their outlook. They have to play 6 over .500 to make 86 wins. Will that make the playoffs? That will be tough. They have to play 14 over .500 to make 90 wins which is usually on the edge of playoffs most years The way they were scoring runs at the beginning of the year was unsustainable and now it’s biting them in the ass when they finally get some pitching. I’m just holding out hope the cardinals and cubs are fricking terrible. We have a lot of games against those two and that will probably decide who’s still playing That may be. Obviously three games is not going to matter much in the whole scheme of things. But the optics would be nice to go into the break on a high. The good thing is, even though they are not playing well right now, they have played well enough in the first half to keep themselves in prime contention for a playoff spot. I guess I'm just going to continue to hold out hope that this rough stretch is just that ... a stretch ... and not a true representation of what this team is and what they can do.
  3. No not really. Fangraphs consistently seems to be the worst of the bunch, though, so I think the criticism is warranted. I've always been a big "that's why they play the games" advocate.
  4. If the Brewers can play well this weekend going into the break, it will curb a lot of this "mediocre" and "this team is bad" talk. Davies will hopefully pitch another gem today. The fact is the whole devision isn't played super great, so the opportunity is prime for the Brewers to step up and take control.
  5. There were certainly people that expected him to be spectacular. But that's neither here nor there, and you are right. He's been ok. And he's far from the biggest problem. I just wish he were more of the solution than he has been, but obviously there's still time.
  6. He hasn't been the savior, but it hasn't been nearly all his fault, either. He's been ok. Shaw's nightmare season has continued in San Antonio so far. Hitting. 205 in AAA, 0 for 3 with 2 K's yesterday. He's certainly not making them regret the decision. I don't know what the answer is. I mean, Hiura should probably be up. He's OK ... been better than Shaw. But he's no savior, at least right now. The hype train was a little too full steam ahead I think.
  7. If I recall correctly, the Brewers have exceeded FGs projections for at least 3 years in a row. Exactly, which is why I look at particularly Fangraphs' projections with a pretty major gran of salt.
  8. I hope Shaw gets hot and comes back soon. Only partially kidding. Hiura hasn’t had the impact many were hoping for.
  9. I think Fangraphs has been pretty Cubs biased the last few years. Wouldn’t expect any difference this year.
  10. I just read that the Suns are in the process of buying out Kyle Korver's deal. He'd be a solid rotational guy, and seemingly a nice fit for what this team does.
  11. Glad he is still with the Crew. not necessarily, i believe he can still reject the assignment. I don't think the Brewers would have announced the outright had he not accepted the assignment.
  12. The bucks only have so much cap room, so I think it is unfair to say this. Matthews did take less money than I think he could have gotten elsewhere to come here. After bucks resigned their guys they only have enough money to some vet minimum deals to round out the roster. I think Robin Lopez falls into this category as well. I wonder, too, if Pau Gasol is still under consideration and even interested in continuing his career? He'd be a nice big to have for limited minutes if healthy.
  13. How bout making changes only when warranted, based upon real time monitoring of all the players. Another words, working a little harder at that site to be more accurate. Serious question > how do you think a front office would value Rasmussen right now? Grisham right now? That is near impossible to keep updated. I don't believe a teams valuation of either player has changed all that much. Fans tend to over value and under value players based on recent success or failure. I agree, especially for those players who are already known as high-end prospects. A down month or even down season isn't going to hugely effect their trade value. Of course, it does change the optics of the trade in the eyes of fans, but I doubt that makes little to any difference. A team dealing for Ray is going to look at his upside, while a team looking at Grisham is likely going to temper expectations. Every team is going to want a package of prospects that are currently playing well, but prospects currently scuffling don't automatically lose their prospect value.
  14. I just spit coffee all over my keyboard ... so thanks for that
  15. I brought up that we need some better non Hader options yesterday but was shouted down. Of course this is obvious to anyone who has watched this team for even a week but whatever. No one shouted you down on that point. At all. In fact, several posters distinctly agreed with you on the need for more pen arms. The disagreement was 100% with your overworking Hader comment, which you must have assumed without actually looking at his usage. They haven't done it in two seasons, they aren't doing it now, and while there may be a temptation to do it in the future, I think most believe they will continue to be smart with his usage. Yes, you are correct that not having better options may cost games, but they aren't going to risk their all-world closer.
  16. Well Saladino is proving so far that AAA stats need to be taken with a grain of salt. He was hitting very well at San Antonio, but we all know what he is ... a streaky/poor slap hitter who is versatile on defense. If Hernan Perez went down to San Antonio, I have no doubt that he'd hit .325. That said, I think it is growing closer to time to give Dubon a shot.
  17. Yes, then imagine what we could get if we trade him this offseason. Ridiculed. That's what they'd get. Because playoff-contending teams don't trade off young, good, cost-controlled Major League starting pitching just because one fan doesn't like that they don't throw fast.
