  1. Yep. Leaving Davies in is a hindsight is 20/20 decision. You gotta have faith in your late inning guys to keep the game competitive. If they can't, then perhaps they shouldn't be your late inning relievers. I get it, but faith in Claudio is not wise, and that is not just a hindsight 20/20 thing. Questioning why Claudio is a late inning reliever with the way he's pitched is a whole different argument. It's tough to question going to the pen in that spot. It is easy to question who they went to, though.
  2. Yup, and now sadly for Claudiohe needs to be DFA'd to protect us from CC misusing him. It would be like putting Aguilar in CF, he has no chance for success. Sheesh. Claudio has two options remaining. He was a good reliever for several years with the Rangers. Those options were a big selling point with him. He isn't getting DFA'd. Optioned maybe, but no way DFA'd.

  4. We was about to face the top of the order. the 4th time through. I mean, I get why they did it, but Davies was looking very good tonight. At the end of the day, your lefty late-inning reliever needs to do his job, especially against lefty hitters. He didn't.
  5. 75 yards away with his back to Braun ... yeah, the ump has to help there. Braun had a horrible view of what was happening being between 2nd and 3rd, and was hung out to dry. No other way to look at it. Exactly. It’s easy for us to see on TV, with a zoomed in replay. Even with zoomed in replay, I had to watch it a couple times to truly see what happened. Imagine trying to make the determination in real time, while running the bases, with a 230 pound 3rd baseman is bearing down on you. No matter how much we may not think so at times, baseball is hard.

  7. Amen! There are over 100 of these things left this year, and hopefully this team is playing deep into October. They are going to play some bad baseball this year. Every team does. This is an fun little pitchers' duel right now. Did anyone expect anything less with the Brewers facing a soft-tossing lefty making his MLB debut? That scenario has been this team's kryptonite for what seems like years. Fortunately Davies is having a typical Davies game ... lots of hard contact, but he executes when he needs it, and he's tossing a bunch of zeros on the board as well.
  8. Exactly, too much. Stearns is gonna make big time changes to this offense as we get closer to the deadline. Pitching will carry us threw till then. *shaking head* Stearns has a money tree? Stearns going to trade the farm? Big time changes, what exactly do you mean by BIG TIME changes? Are you sure you want this answer?
  9. I see that now. My bad. Not the first time I've been confused by MLB contract statuses. I agree ... with that control, he'd be expensive.
  10. No on the bear, pitching terrible. Colome will be very expensive prospect wise and salary. Just sign Kimbrel. Costs only $. and we’d get him for 2 1/2 years. Colome is a rental. Free agent after this year, on a $7.325 million deal. Cost will likely not be astronomical because of this. He is pitching very well. Very similar situation to Soria last year, and acquiring him certainly didn't break the bank. Regarding Kimbrel, I think that dead horse is beaten to a pulp by now, isn't it?
  11. And it looks like he has no shot at the MVP, which is amazing! Whole lot of season left. A lot can happen. Bellinger isn't Hercules.
  12. Not a straw man argument at all. Of their top 10 prospects before the Yelic trade they swapped off #’s 1,3 5, 6 and 8. That’s 50% of their top ten. So even if they “strategically traded the right guys” it’s still says their farm system isn’t as good as it was hyped to be since Monte Harrison is the only minor leaguer out of the those in the top ten they’ve traded who has flourished. Or that they traded those guys at the height of their value. I think that using the idea that a lot of these former prospects haven't panned out as a way to say the current group of prospects won't succeed is really weak. Plus, who is hyping the system? Pretty much everything I've seen placed the team's system in the middle of the pack (best case) to lower third or even mid 20s. That will probably go even lower now since Hiura is with the big club. But that in no way means that there isn't players in the system right now who will likely make a big impact at the ML level.
  13. Just needs time. Yeah, for sure. You can see it every time he pitches. Dominant stuff is there. If he can find the consistency, the sky is the limit.
  14. Well maybe not greener, but with less weeds(less Ks-more contact)with the potential for a pristine Lawn(short right field Miller Park effect/Loser to Winner) How does that short right field not help Thames? He's just as much a pull hitter as Smoak. This team is good. Stop wishing for different and enjoy what we have. Sheesh man. Loser to winner? Ask the Jays how that's working out. Come on
  15. I don't know. There is very little difference between Thames and Smoak. Smoak is a switch hitter, but he's so much better as a lefty that the SH thing isn't really an advantage with him. He's not a good righty hitter. We seem to be fueled by a constant desire for change and this search for a "professional" hitter, whatever that is, we apparently do not have any. Ops+: Thames 102 Smoke 127 Smoak also strikes out less, walks more = professional hitter. Career ops+ (because that is what really matters) Thames 108 Smoke 106 Also, Smoak's average is down to .224 now, similar to his .233 career average. I would imagine that ops+ will come back to career average as well. I totally get the idea of trying to improve at the 1B position. I just don't think Smoak is an improvement, though, and the numbers bear that out. I think this would be a change simply to make a change.
  16. Or perhaps the Brewers strategically traded the right guys. Using their lack of success to say the system is weak is a strawman argument.
