  1. Petricka optioned, per Toby's Twitter handle.
  2. I don't think he's got any sort of antiquated ranking system. He plays matchups fueled by analytical research. If the numbers show Barnes should be in there to face a particular batter in a given situation, he'll be in there, regardless of if its a leverage situation or not.
  3. Peralta with another horrible outing tonight. The trio of young starters have been awful, and getting progressively worse. The pitching staff is giving up HRs at an alarming rate. Another 3 given up tonight. The pen has been horrific with the exception of Hader. JJ is not himself coming back from injury. He got tore-up in AAA ball and his velocity was in the 80's in his second inning of work. Right now the offense is overcoming the pitchers giving up HR after HR after HR. They can't make a playoff run with pitching as bad as it is. Stearns and CC have to make something happen quick. Eleven and six
  4. I know I’m in the minority around here but I love watching him play. He has frustrating moments but he’s just so talented. Still very young too. Many on this board have treated similarly flashy players like Villar and Carlos Gomez very similarly. Some aren't big fans of players showing emotion and flamboyance on the field. Granted those guys had legit warts that you could complain about, but I never thought they deserved the hate they got. Nyjer Morgan can probably be grouped in that category too.
  5. They needed someone to hate on following Villar's trade. Arcia is fine now, and he'll be fine in the future. He gives you high-end defense, and just enough offense to stay relevant.
  6. If he was there in March, I think that would likely translate to 95 coming out of the pen. In any case, it is a strong possibility that Brown and Houser would be upgrades for the pen. Every report I just looked at had him topping out at 93. So sitting at 95-96, even moving from the rotation to the pen is probably pushing it. Not if he was at 93-95 in that Montreal exhibition. But who knows if that was a fast gun?
  7. And/or how sometimes it takes some time, even if we don't like it. You are right, especially with Williams. He doesn't really have enough of a track record to make much of a determination on. Barnes has been around awhile longer. Both are going to keep getting chances as long as they keep throwing hard.
  8. My impression was that he threw in the 92-93 range and relied more on command. Maybe he's just adding a couple MPH as often happens when a starter moves to the pen. He was 90-93 in Spring Training. If he was there in March, I think that would likely translate to 95 coming out of the pen. In any case, it is a strong possibility that Brown and Houser would be upgrades for the pen.
  9. I'm almost positive that's what the guns in spring training had him at. But those same guns had Peralta hitting 97, so probably not accurate. Regardless, both those guys would be throwing more heat than what they have in the pen now pretty easily.
  10. If Jeffress comes back and solidifies the 9th. Hader handles the 8th and sometimes the 7th I think the bullpen is plenty deep. Especially if Nelson is productive and moves one of the 3 young guys into the bullpen. Suddenly I think the bullpen is back to being a strength. How confident are you that Jeffress is going to do that though? I wasn't that confident he'd do that before he went down with a shoulder issue and then got lit up in AAA. I also haven't heard what his velocity looks like. But I am seriously doubtful that he's going to be anything close to last year's version and even then we're still down a couple arms. I am hopeful Albers can pitch well this year though. I'd feel better if we had power arms in the minors who could be up this year to help us out, but we don't. Adrian Houser hits upper 90s and Zach Brown sits 95-96. Is that not power enough?
  11. Add a diver and a sliding catch to that night lol Unless Lewis Brinson becomes Willie Mays and Monte Harrsion becomes Willie McCovey, that deal is going to go down as a major win.
