  1. Last night's game was torture. I didn't have the same feeling today. I saw last night's game against Rich Hill as a good chance to win, but today's against Kershaw was a tough matchup. It ended up being a great game until the Dodgers managed to tack on a few near the end. I was very encouraged by Woodruff's performance. The fact is, they needed one in LA to get back to Milwaukee, and they got it. Today was kind of a "house money" game. Now Friday's game I guarantee will be waterboard-level torture.
  2. His skillset certainly profiles as the exact type of hitter they need at the top of the order. A table setter who is going to hit over .300, steal bases, work counts and minimize strikeouts. His results in the Arizona Fall League are certainly encouraging. I doubt he'll begin the year in Milwaukee (that's a really big jump, and he is still very young and doesn't have a lot of experience). I hope he is over the elbow injury concern as well. They will need to determine soon what his ETA is, because if they feel he isn't going to be ready, they need to acquire a 2B who profiles as a table setter. They just have too many Schoop types already in the lineup for that to work.
  3. The Brewers needed one in LA, and they got it. Not its back home to Milwaukee, with Miley on the hill. He shut down the Dodgers on Saturday. Get a win, and Saturday is the ultimate toss-up.
  4. It's really weird. The last couple games obvious have not gone our way, but I have a lot of confidence they are going to take Game 6. The Dodgers couldn't figure out Miley on Saturday, and they won't on Friday. Bullpen is going to be rested (besides Woodruff). Even though Counsell's slight of hand pitching move to begin the game didn't ultimately lead to the desired result, I thought it was awesome!
  5. The only way they stand a shot of winning two over the weekend is if the offense shows up. Im sure the pitching will be fine, but they aren't going to be perfect. The offense has to produce.
  6. Dodgers are putting on a clinic on station to station baseball and driving in runs with men in scoring position. Brewers look exactly like they did last night. Poor discipline, weak grounders and Ks
  7. This offense has not come to play the last two days. That’s the truth. They are depending on pitchers to be perfect, and that just isn’t going to happen against a team like the Dodgers. Pitching isn’t the need in the offseason. It’s a couple more consistent bats.
  8. I am not right often, but the blind squirrel found a nut. This is from 11:43 this morning
  9. I called it! One batter, and Woodruff time. Make them start their righties to face Miley, then sub out.
  10. He was caught stealing literally 2 minutes later. I mean, isn't the point kinda moot now?
  11. Whole lotta ballgame left (hopefully not more than 9 innings of it, though)
  12. I'm going to predict they come to play today, just as they have for the last month. There's no throw-away games in the playoffs. I think Miley and Woodruff combine on a gem. Just gotta get the offense going. I'm not even going to venture to guess on if that is going to happen. I also think Jeffress pitches in a key spot today, and the board may teeter on the edge of implosion
  13. I know exactly where you're coming from. Every negative thought about this series was going through my head last night and this morning as well. I was thinking it, but maybe reading it here kinda solidified the realism of it all. I apologize if you were offended.
  14. Wow man ... I know you are down after game 4, but geez. Can you please lighten up on the pessimism? The series is tied 2-2. Please stop trying to dictate people's feelings and posting habits. I'm far from the only person here who feels this way. In fact, it turned into kind of a major thing here earlier this year. But you have a point. I'm going to refrain from going "there" in the future. Like a lot of fans, this morning was rough for me too.
  15. I'm both really looking forward to, and dreading, this game. I have the suspicion that it's going to be another low-scoring pitcher's duel. Our last game like that ended 13 hours ago!
  16. Yup, this. I suppose you could put Yelich in CF, but that is a sizable step down from Cain defensively too. We take Cain's defense for granted because he makes it look so easy, but he's saved multiple hits this series.
  17. Who are you going to change out at this point? Perez is in there for Schoop, and Kratz is in there for Pina. Santana isn't going to play for Braun or Yelich. No way, no how. Granderson isn't going to draw a start against Kershaw. Kershaw is also a horrible matchup for Shaw.
  18. The bigger blunder was failing to walk the bases loaded to get to a pitcher in the inning we ended up losing the game in. There just is not excuse for that big of a managerial blunder. Counsell has done great in the postseason, but that was a big ole fail that is pretty hard to debate. Yep. Granted the Brewers offense was doing nothing, but that decision took away an opportunity. I don't know how much longer Guerra could have lasted after that inning, as it looked like he was starting to tire, but that was a Managing 101-level blunder. It is very possible that the outcome could have very well ended up the same way, but any chance is better than none.
  19. I don't think Domingo has ever logged an ML inning at 1B, so I would say that's the longest of longshots. We's see Braun there before Domingo. If I remember right, I think the Astros tried him there in the lower minors, and it didn't go well. You'd think with his stature he'd be able to do it, though.
  20. I think Anderson's stuff is better than Davies's, but his propensity to give up homers is frightening, especially against this lineup. That said, in an early afternoon West Coast game with the wind likely blowing in, I would have trusted him in today's game. I have no evidence to back this up, but it seems like Davies was more prone to blow-up innings this year, and that just wasn't because of HRs. Chase gave up HRs, but for the most part he was effective limiting damage, as evidenced by his solid ERA. I think Woodruff goes today as the next guy after Miley, whenever he comes out. Getting 5 solid from Miley would be terrific, then you could go to two from Woodruff, and end it with Soria and Jeffress. I agree that it would be awesome to see Woodruff get at least one AB against Kershaw.
  21. Having Cedeno as a situational lefty who is having trouble retiring lefties has hamstrung this team a bit. This is all hindsight, but I think having Anderson or even Jordan Lyles on the roster would be more valuable, as both can obviously give you multiple innings. I think Hader is out today for sure, as are Peralta and Guerra. I don't want to see Knebel, but it wouldn't surprise me if he pitched today. Burnes may be able to go, but I'd like to see him get a couple days to recharge. Soria should be fine.
  22. I'm doubting it. Better to play to win today. Probably Davies in Game 6 if he isn't used today, and then Chacin for game 7 if it gets there. I don't think letting Woodruff go multiple innings on full rest would be punting, though. He was terrific in Game 1. Davies would obviously be much more of a wild card, but they are likely going to have to use him at some point. I'd just feel much more comfortable with Chacin and Miley lined up for Games 6-7 than Davies/Bullpen Game and Chacin.
  23. Any chance that they roll Miley out for one hitter or one inning, then go to Woodruff (3 innings) and Davies (3-4 innings)? That way they could bring Miley back for Game 7. It would also cause the Dodgers to start their right-handed hitters against Miley, then swap them for the power left-handed guys, weakening the bench. That would be a ballsy manager move.
