  1. Well, that was quick. Would like to see a little more patience from the offense.
  2. My prediction - Yelich and Braun both have great games, and carry the team to a 7-3 win.
  3. I love that this is absolutely wrong. LOVE IT! Your obsession with my posts is getting weird dude. It's more your obsession with being right and also high and mighty. Also, that post was from 11 days ago!
  4. As far as I'm concerned, his slam off Bumgarner to give the Brewers that win against the Giants made the trade worthwhile, seeming that one game would have put us in the Wild Card round. Ortiz could develop into something, but I wouldn't say the chances are super high. Carmona is basically a shot in the dark, and Villar was a throw-in. Anything he does now is justification for bringing him back next year. He's got an All Star past and has shown the offensive ability to carry a team on his back. It's time to see it. I’m not really questioning the trade because we have a IGT on October 16 which is all that matters, but after the euphoria of a deep play off run, the reality is you don’t pay a 2B $10M unless he is middle of the lineup type. When he's on, that's what Schoop has proven to be. Unfortunately those streaks haven't been sustained nearly enough in his career, and not at all with the Brewers yet. It would certainly be nice to see him do something positive from here on out to at least provide an inkling of what he could be if back next year.

Come on...you have to know it is silly to use one positive play to draw a conclusion, and ignore all other outcomes. That was +1 one game and minus 10 in the other. Yes I am exaggerating, but you get the point. That is just completely wrong justification. Now pointing to his past...knock yourself out. Considering the black hole we had at 2B, is it really a negative outcome? I don't know if they were convinced that Shaw could handle 2B, so trading for Schoop was a Plan A/B in case it didn't. Also, you can't tell me how I personally justify something. This team won the Central in a one-game tie break. If Schoop doesn't win that game against Bumgarner with the slam, they aren't there. Yeah, I wish that we had more to go on to justify the Schoop deal, but really that's it. It was a pretty big one, though. Hopefully he provides more justification tonight.

  7. Exactly. The lack of use of Aaron Jones this year, and especially last night, was horrible. He is electric with the ball in his hands. I don't care if he isn't as good as Williams at blitz pickup. If you have a running threat, the defense isn't going to be blitzing the heck out of you.
  8. 22-year-old rookie who basically hasn't pitched in 3 weeks and has issues with command? Yep, I'd be very surprised by a strong performance. It would definitely be a happy surprise, though. I think my reaction to him coming in early would be very similar to the clenching that happened among many here last night when Jeffress came in. I love the kid's potential, but I don't trust him in a spot like this. At all.
  9. Sounds like you're coming around on the Hader decision. Only one question remains. Would you still take Oliver Drake over Jeffress? That was coolhandluke who said that. Pretty sure he is sticking to his guns on it, too.
  10. It was proof that there are maybe 2-3 really good teams in the NFL, and 2-3 really bad teams, and then just a bunch of mediocrity in the middle. What I saw last night was two teams with roughly the same level of talent, except for at one position - QB. That kid for the 49ers did his best to keep it interesting, though.
  11. I see it, but sort of relented after he came in. The weird thing is, the guys I was talking to were most upset that he was taken out for the 9th, but also arguing "what if we need him tomorrow!" The only reason he is possibly available today is because he was taken out. As an aside, Counsell has been named co-manager of the year by Sporting News. That pretty much describes Brewers Twitter in a nutshell. I'm totally fine with second guessing the manager, and have done it too this season. But right now the moves he's making are working, so that second guessing is getting tougher to do.
  12. Under the current model of limiting most of our pitchers to one trip through the order, Gio is ranked 12th out of 12 on the current staff. His biggest use is his left-handedness and dictating the Dodgers starting lineup. So yes, Gio is likely capped at 2-3 innings. Doubt they'll want to tempt fate and push him. He had a very short leash last time and there's no reason to give him a longer one now. The big question is, who follows Gio? It sounds like Woodruff will be the guy but I'm not so sure. The score after 3 might dictate who follows. I have a sneaking suspicion we might be surprised by the second out getter for the Brewers tonight. I'm thinking your suspicion is Peralta. I think that is HIGHLY unlikely. But many of the pitching moves they've made have completely flummoxed me, and they have worked for the team much more than not, so who knows?
  13. Guerra just pitched a scoreless 9th in a leverage situation on Saturday. He's good to go. I agree on Peralta. It's obvious that he's the "in case of emergency" guy.
  14. There's a hot take if I ever saw one! After Jeffress walked Puig, Jeremy stared him down to about halfway up to first base. I have no idea why he did that. Perhaps there is something to this "woke Jeremy up" thing. I mean, he really locked it in after that. Puig was trash talking Jeffress DURING the at-bat, yelling at him to throw him a strike (Harold Reynolds was all over it on MLB Network after the game). Then he basically started walking to 1B on ball 4 before the ball even hit the catcher's mitt. That was a poor call as well, as it looked pretty obvious to the naked eye that the ball caught the lower inside part of the plate. Of course Jeffress then bore down and dominated Grandal and Dozier to end it.
  15. Knebel only threw 19 pitches, and he's used to going on back-to-back nights, so I would think he's 100% good to go. Hader threw 8, so I'm sure he's available if needed as well. It might be for a LOOGY-type situation, though, rather than his typical multi-inning stint. I'm sure they are going to want to get through this game without going to Jeffress, but he only threw 21 pitches, too, so he will also be available if needed. Like many have pointed out, it's the NLCS, so its all hands on deck. The only pitchers who are unavailable tonight are Chacin (obviously) and Miley (already named tomorrow's starter). The pen is in awesome shape for what looks like it might be a pen game tonight. I'm hoping Gio can give us more than two innings, though.
  16. You were also super worried about Chacin starting on short rest against the Rockies, and that went fine. I get it, though. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, and one of these decisions to backfire on the Brewers in a big way, but like what was pointed out above, it is obvious that this team's advanced scouting and analytics departments are top notch, and they are working with data that it is likely none of us are even thinking about. This team is up 2-1 on a team that, on paper at least, blows them out of the water talent wise. And they are doing it largely on the strength of their pitching. Personally, I am 100% on board with the decisions they make. It is likely that something is going to backfire at some point, but what they are doing is working. Miley's pitch count was low, and he basically dominated that lineup. He's not exactly a 100% power pitcher, either. I have no problem with him going tomorrow.
  17. I think we all know which posters you are talking about, that it is pretty much par for the course with them. And that's fine. Pride is a big deal, and admitting that you are wrong is a tough pill to swallow for some. I give you a lot of credit for coming here and admitting that you overreacted. It was obviously a big game, with a lot of big moments, and emotions run pretty deep in those situations. The idea that Jeffress is going to be shut down or put in fewer high-leverage situations I think needs to be gone, though. That just isn't going to happen. They are going to continue rolling him out there, in the hope that he gets out of whatever perceived funk he's in and gets back to being dominant. Which is fine by me. Without an effective Jeremy Jeffress, you are basically cutting off the head of this team's biggest strength. Was going to Hader and Jeffress with a 4-run lead the right call? Well, Hader was warming already with a two-run lead, and when Hader warms up, he comes in. That's the way it is with him. I don't fault Counsell for using him in that spot. Going to Jeffress in the 9th was nerve wracking, obviously, but if you can't insert your high-leverage late inning guy with a 4-run lead, and expect him to finish things off, then you have huge problems. That's why I think that was actually the perfect time to use Jeffress.
  18. The post-game coverage on MLB Network, and on FS Wisconsin is so, so much better. I switch over immediately after the game.
  19. I'm sure your dad is a great guy, but he sounds like the type of fan that would not be fun to watch a game with. I just don't know how you can watch a game like last night's, in the NLCS (!!!), and only focus on the negatives.
  20. Wow, what a "What's the point?" deal. Player acquisition in the NBA is so weird. And stupid.
  21. Agreed. We don't necessarily have to use Hader tomorrow, but the threat of him exists. It's a shame Woodruff had to throw a bit. Makes me wonder if he'll be held out tomorrow and pitch behind Miley on Wednesday. Maybe we go GG, Peralta, Guerra tomorrow. I just don't think they are comfortable inserting Peralta for any meaningful innings. I kinda get the feeling he's the designated mop-up guy. Also, Woody warmed up, but I don't think that excludes him from pitching tomorrow. Also, Burnes could be the first guy in tomorrow after GG as well.
  22. There's a hot take if I ever saw one! Well Puig trash talked him during that at-bat, telling JJ to throw him a strike. After the walk (ball 4 was a gift) JJ proceeded to bear down and K Grandal and Dozier. And with the crap Machado has pulled in this series, he is most definitely a turd.
  23. I think that Puig at-bat woke Jeremy up. Man Puig is such a turd. Between Puig and Machado, the Dodgers have a big pile of turds.
