  1. You are really underestimating how important Jeffress, and his success, is to this team's success. If he isn't this team's most important player, he is in the top 3. If he is bad, the Brewers are going to lose. It is in this team's best interest to get him right. Like it or not, or throw out some stat about how lucky he is, it doesn't matter. It is obvious this team is rolling with him.
  2. It was a manager showing extreme faith in his guy. That means something. I'm guessing Jeremy is feeling great, and would be willing to run through a brick wall for Counsell right now.
  3. Holy overreaction Batman! You have been pretty high and mighty with your criticisms tonight, and this staff just pitched a shutout in Dodger Stadium.
  4. This spot is exactly why Soria was picked up. I'm good with it. At least Hader is warm and ready if needed, though.
  5. True, but the issue is that putting a really good reliever in there for an extra inning doesn't necessarily make it any safer. They can do it pretty effectively, but I don't think that's how they're wired. I'm willing to bet their stats suffer a lot in the 2nd inning of work, unless they're an established long reliever. Corey Knebel says Check and Mate!
  6. Agreed. I would add that you have to start trusting some other guys too. They need work, they've been pretty solid, and it's better to use them in the right situation (when your best guys arguably would benefit from a little rest) than wait until you have no choice. Who though? Soria has been up and down. Burnes was great before his poor outing Saturday. Guerra has been superb, but they don't seem to want to use him in high leverage spots. Cedeno has been iffy. There is no way they throw Peralta out there unless it's a 5-6 run lead I think.
  7. While it is nice to have some breathing room here, this Dodgers lineup is so good, I don't know if any lead would feel safe.
