  1. I'll post this again since it got buried in Broxton trade talk... I Tweet It, It Is So @basesloadedwalk Source - Expect Cobb to get 3 yr deal between $43-$48mil. #Brewers still in the running. He will likely make his decision in next few days. @brewers @Acobb53 7:22 PM · Mar 11, 2018 Source? LOL. This is just some random guy with a twitter handle. And he's only connecting the dots, but not saying anything concrete.
  2. How many regular season games is Villar going to have to start before you give up on the notion that he's a bubble player? I think not signing Walker sealed the fact that not only is Villar going to be on the team, he's likely going to see the majority of the playing time at 2B. I'm sure Sogard and Perez will see time there as well, though.
  3. His power and defense would play in the corner outfield as well, if someone was looking for an athletic upgrade.
  4. Well they needed someone to catch passes there. The stable of WRs and TEs they have is arguably the worst in the league.
  5. Oakland, Cleveland, Kansas City and San Diego all make logical sense to me. San Francisco could use an athletic CF to patrol that huge OF.
  6. Vogt is on a non-guaranteed deal. I agree on Sogard though. But hindsight is 20-20.
  7. LOL clear as mud. Typical Haudricourt response. I would think he would have a contact at MLB that could definitively answer the question, as I'm sure it has come up before. But nope, we are left guessing and speculating.
  8. I laughed out loud reading this, as I was thinking the same thing. This isn't some rookie league team babying 17-year-old hurlers who graduated high school a month ago. They aren't going to piggyback their pitchers. As far as the eyeball test goes, J.J. Hoover and Brett Suter look terrific. Hoover probably has a spot in the pen, and I think Suter is the #4 in the rotation, barring an acquisition. Hiura looks like the real deal as the 2B of the future.
  9. Not necessarily. Sometimes a team needs to see what they have in Spring Training before deciding if it's time to make a move. Like I said in the other thread, I'd bet he goes sometime this week, and while the return isn't going to be gangbusters, it'll be something most here are happy with. Broxton having that extra option helps his value a bit. At minimum, he's a well above average defender with great speed and power. The best value we can get for him will be a rebuilding team that can dream on his upside. I would think a contender who is close to the luxury tax threshold and has a hole in CF may have interest as well. His cheap contract is a solid selling point.
  10. Not necessarily. Sometimes a team needs to see what they have in Spring Training before deciding if it's time to make a move. Like I said in the other thread, I'd bet he goes sometime this week, and while the return isn't going to be gangbusters, it'll be something most here are happy with.
  11. Give the new leadership a chance before writing them off. These are no longer Ted Thompson's "Draft And Develop" Packers. You saw it already with the Randall for Kizer swap. Thompson would have never, ever made that deal. Gute wants to make a splash in his first run at being a GM, and the Packers are going to be active this offseason. He wants to put his stamp on the team. Just give it a little time.
  12. One year does not a career make. Souza had a nice season last year, but before that the profile nearly mirrored Broxton. Souza is a decent power bat that is going to strike out a ton with a low average. Broxton is a decent power bat that is going to strike out a ton with a low average. They profile very similarly, one year of production aside. Difference is Broxton can play CF and offers more speed, albeit with a lower average. I still say Keon goes this week, and I'm not really expecting a real big return. But it's isn't going to be a trash return, either. You do recall what they say about trash - One man's trash might be another man's treasure. Keon might well be traded this week. Time will tell. But Souza landed 4 pieces for TB. 2 ranked prospects & 2 PTBNL. Rumor/ reports are the last 2 will be prospects with some value, not the typical filler. I doubt Broxton (by himself) brings back more than 1 piece. It might be a prospect ranked somewhere on some list (one can hope) but it would be 1 piece. I thought the Rays did very well in the Souza deal. In fact, if a team offered a similar package for Santana, I'd be tempted to take it. I agree on Broxton ... they may only get 1-2 pieces back. But the return will be something everyone here is happy with I think.
  13. I'm sure when there is anything other than crickets regarding Cobb, it will be here.
  14. I think you are underestimating his value. Look at the package Souza got back. Profile is somewhat similar. I would maybe not expect that much, but his value isn't far off of that. Joey - Keon vs Souza is not even close in production. While only a year apart age wise, Souza posted a 4.2 WAR last season (6.0 for career). Keon posted 0.4 WAR last season (2.4 on career). Keon might be of most value to the Crew but if DS can get something else of value for Keon, he should make the deal... One year does not a career make. Souza had a nice season last year, but before that the profile nearly mirrored Broxton. Souza is a decent power bat that is going to strike out a ton with a low average. 15. Didn't expect them to be super active the first day when everyone is overpaying. Team liked Allen Robinson and Sammy Watkins, but not at the huge salaries they are getting. They really like Trumane Johnson too, but he may break the bank. They are also in the mix for Jimmy Graham, but if it comes down to a bidding war with the Saints, who knows? Team also believes they are still the preferred destination for Wilkerson. The biggest difference to look for with Gute compared to Ted - look for the team to be very active in making player-for-player and draft pick-for-player trades to shore up their depth.
  16. I agree. Strong defender, and has actually looked decent with the bat. Younger than Bandy too.
  17. For the last time... markets aren't set by what you have they are set by what 29 teams want/need. He's at rock bottom? ... no... becuase 1 more year of limited production with no options is worthless... thats rock bottom. He's simply not worth a lot. We got him for nothing then he had a streak. Why is he supposed to be worth something? He's worth more than he was worth when we got him and teams will give up something to fill a need. He's a 4th OF with some upside because hes a 20/20 guy. There wasn't a sell high point on broxton. He's just better than rogers. I guess my point is, why trade him at all then? He could do good, he could do bad, but you can put him in AAA, and if a couple of people get hurt, you can bring him up and he can soak up some innings. I never want the guy as an everyday outfielder, but at this point if you're trading him for nothing, don't trade him for anything at all. I think you are underestimating his value. Look at the package Souza got back. Profile is somewhat similar. I would maybe not expect that much, but his value isn't far off of that.
  18. Watching Huira mash and play solid defense lately, perhaps he's closer than we all think. If the 3-headed monster fails, it's not out of the realm of possibility he's up at some point this year. Crazy thought, but not impossible.
  19. Considering the team has roughly 20 corner OF and 1B options already (sarcasm), Choi doesn't stand a great chance. But he will go down to Colorado Springs and probably hit .350 with a ton of homers, and provide great depth should the Brewers need a 1B at some point. He could perhaps be flipped at some point like Cooper was too.
  20. What? Lol, is this sarcasm? Or not, I don't know because of peoples opinions on this board I don't think it's sarcasm. brewmann04 pretty much says what's on his mind. I believe he means that he's glad Stearns didn't move Santana just because there's a logjam in the OF and 1B.
  21. I really like this post. Thank you for articulating this point better than I could have.
  22. I think at this point, unless there's an acquisition, he's got the #4 spot sewn up
  23. Well, right when I was ready to get on the Junior Guerra bandwagon for a rotation spot, he's getting hit pretty hard so far today. The positive is at least he's sitting at 93-94 with his FB.
