  1. Sometimes you have to go out on a limb and take a chance. IF the problem isnt Yost I dont think its that big of a deal to lose him, its not like he is anything more than average. I think you need to fire him and give everyone a clean, fresh, start.
  2. Cat 5 is as high as it gets, but is it possible for a hurricane to reach Category 6? There has to be a point where the winds get so high that they make a new category right?
  3. I wish I knew when Fielders appeal would be heard. There is no way the Brewers lose this game. Lets get back into a tie for first tonight.
  4. No but my guess is it is lower than we think - probably about 5 2/3 IP.
  5. 1. Ryan Braun is withing slapping distance of Paul Molitor's highest batting average record set in 1987 of .353. 2. Prince has a chance at Robins all time record of Extra base hits at 87. Yount set the record in 1982. 3. Braun has a very good chance to beat Paul Molitor's OPS record (1.003) which was set in 1987. 4. Both Braun and Prince are on pace to beat Jenkins' SLG% record. 5. Jenkins is 41 HRs away from becoming the ALL TIME BREWERS HOME RUN LEADER. I gotta think that this comes into account when the time is up to resign him. Most impressive is the fact that he has done it in almost 1/3 of the ABs. (added tags --1992)
  6. Capuano should have good success against the REDS. A Lefthanded starter should be able to control this game. Neutralize Griffey, Hamilton, Dunn, Conine should get the start over Hatteberg, Thats the meat of the lineup right there. I dont care if Harang is pitching or not, I think the Crew is the definate favorite in this one.
  7. 145 MPH Max Sustained winds. I dont think Jamacia is big enough to slow it down when its over land. Looks like a direct hit. Do these things ever have a way of breaking up in the gulf. This is not good timing, and no matter where it hits, gas prices are going to go up significantly.
  8. Very cool playing in a game that means so much and winning it. Taking note of the guys who really are stepping up. Tonight it was Gabe Gross, Ricky Weeks, Claudio Vargas, Brian Shouse, Geoff Jenkins, my opinion is those are the guys who brought their game to another level tonight. Shouses strikeout on Hamilton was just huge. Proved he could handle the pressure cooker. It almost made me wish I was 38 short and bald. Jenkins homer in the 6th just proved to me that he should be in the lineup every day during this race. Its about time for him to heat up and earn that last contract with the Brewers. A huge next ((39?) games followed by a big role in our World Series run will more or less guarantee that he finishes his career with the Milwaukee Brewers. He has ALOT riding on this and Jenkins has had big seasons before he got new contracts. I think Hardy is dead on again, he was hitting the ball real well today and yesterdays performance should have really built some confidence. That was a heck of a play he had in the first and thats not a play that a guy lacking confidence can make. He is ready to heat up again. 2 hits and no strikeouts for Bill Hall. Thats a great sign. If he just concentrates on hitting the ball instead of crushing the ball, I think the homeruns will follow. He plays CF, any homeruns are pretty much a luxury. I really think if he just concentrates on playing fundamental baseball, the #s will follow. Often times it just takes 1 little tweak in your stance to make you concentrate on the fundamentals of your swing again. I still say that Vargas has been our MVP - of the pitching staff. You cant take away the fact that this year he just appears to be a winner. If its that he has good luck, well Id take good luck 7 days over talent and bad luck 7 days a week. He deserves some props. He should always be pulled after 5 - 6 innings, and I dont understand why Yost let him hit *turned out well) in the bottom of the 5th, but I can imagine any team in the majors would take Vargas in a heartbeat. Seeing Weeks on first base really made me remember how important it is to have a guy who can steal bases at the top of the order. In the crunchtime, to have a guy like Weeks on 2nd base with 1 out and Prince coming up to bat....thats going to get us a few leads.......pitchers always seem to have better luck when they get that 1 run lead in the 1st. I really hope Weeks can build off this and get on base and use the great wheels that he has. Now THIS was exciting!
  9. I think it has alot to do with Pressure. Brass balls are not a birth right, they have to be earned or taught. Personally - I think the Brewers are playing like a scared team right now and folding under the pressure of the Cubs and Cardinals. You really have to admire what those teams have done, especially the Cards. They never waivered. They never gave up. They fought, scratched, poked, and kicked their way back to within striking distance. That is going to make it all the sweeter when we destroy their hopes in the last week of the season. Someone on this coaching staff needs to start showing tapes of Rocky or something and make these kids feel as though they belong. Because to me, that might be the problem right now, they feel like they dont belong in a race. For you poker players out there, the Brewers are playing right now, that 14 game lead was like a huge chip lead, and the brewers are playing like a poker player on tilt. Veteran teams know how to avoid this, and this is again a learned behaviour. LETS GO CREW.
  10. Good Luck dude. I seriously envy you.
  11. Its a question that we might not be able to answer here on the forum without being inside the clubhouse. But I am beginning to wonder if John Estrada doesnt call the best games. He seems to set up right down the pipe pretty often, moreso than any catcher. Perhaps its because I dotn watch the catcher on other teams, and I do not have any scientific evidence of it. Maybe its because he is lazy and doesnt like to be uncomfortable....its all speculation and it could all be wrong. Does anyone have a stat (i know someone here does) of Brewers Pitching stats when Miller is the catcher vs when Estrada is the catcher? Id like to take this just a bit furture and ask if anyone can find that same stat from Estrada in Arizona last year?
  12. Wow - I didnt think Maybin was going to be ready till next year at the earliest. This kid is going to be THE Superstar once he is a every day fixture.
  13. This is it. I was excited about the season before the all star break and the way the Crew was playing. Now, I am even more excited. I have been waiting to see the Brewers play baseball like every game counts my whole life. Every game now has the most importance. As a baseball fan I simply cannot imagine baseball getting any better than this. I really dont think we should be so gloomy. We are in the midst of a pennant race and have a team that is not firing on all cylinders but we all can imagine what they are capable of if they were. This is an opportinity for our young guys like Weeks, Prince, Hart, JJ, Braun, Gabe Gross, Billy Hall to step up in the pressure cooker and show us that what they are made of. Its a chance for Jenkins to carry this team in the 2nd half like he has so many times before, but this time he will get notice. We get a late season addition of Ben Sheets. Thats going to be huge team pickme up. I heard his 2nd BP session went well. These are the situations where Soup excells. He can hold the opposition under 4 runs, he is going to be a gigantic plus the rest of the way. Capuano is much better than he has shown. Hopefully he can find his groove. The BP has 3 great guys at the end who I would trust more than any three in baseball. I have seen Turnbow when he is on, and he is unhittable. Cordero has an extra gear when things get tough and he can earn his money now for his contract year. Linebrink is also going to be trying to pitch his way into the closer role for next year. All I am saying is that the many of you that are getting fed up with the Brewers right now, thats your right, but your going to miss out on exactly what we have been waiting for. A Battle with the 2 Superpowers in the South and the young secret in the north. This is going to be something that was worth waiting for. Sorry for the rantish thing. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smokin.gif
  14. i was severly dissapointed in the 360 version last year so I hope this year is much better. As long as we are on the topic, and I am a somewhat new 360 owner, can anyone explain to me the XBOX live deal? Hows it work?
  15. Id bet Linebrink is signed to an extension before the season is even up.
  16. Linebrink should be able to close for us in the future. I think that had alot to do with our trading for him. He will come at a much lesser price than COCO.
  17. I have been stopping at every rummage sale I see and asking if they have any fishing tackle and the answer is always the same - NO. Anyone have any idea where one could find this sort of thing outside of EBAY?
  18. NDOGG I was thinking the same thing - I am surprised Lopez hasnt contacted him - maybe he doesnt forgive him? Anyhow - are we sure that his problems started here with the blast to the face then after the game Ned Yost had him pitch 3 innings? I remember seeing him pitch 3 innings and thinking that something must be going on in the trade front.
  19. "close-to-violent defense from his teammates" Dude - thats a LITTLE far fetched.
  20. Thasnks for the advice guys - lots of good advice in here.
  21. "Our young guys are wearing down. Our main players are getting hurt" But at the same time we have guys like Manny and Yo and Dave Bush who are proving capable of stepping up. For a mid market team to beat the freespending ways of the Chicago Cubs it takes a total team effort. Joe Dillon - he is even going to have a major role in this race. This is what is going to make it all the more beautiful when we finally do beat the Cubs. As far as Yost, I cant stand the guy as a manager. Bottom line though is he has us in first place. As long as we are in first place there isnt much we can say. We are stuck with him the rest of the year.
  22. Hang in there Blazer. Times like these are tests to see if you really do bleed Blue. What fun would it be if the Crew ran away with it. We have been waiting 25 years. Anything less than a race is not good enough. We deserve a race of all races. We deserve a Sheets vs Zambrano 1 game playoff. Lets milk this thing for all that its worth.
  23. Believe it or not, he chews out of crates when a storm comes in. He is an escape artist. Even tried to Put him outside and he digs under teh fence. Dog might be too smart for his own good. - Thanks - I do appreciate the response. BTW - if it matters - he is a german shephard mixed with Golden Retreiver
  24. I have a dog - when I got married I gave the dog to my mom because the dog is a known Cat Killer and my wife brought 2 cats into the marriage. The dog has quite the life at my Moms and I see it a few times a month so I dont feel like I abandoned it. It has a playmate as well. Anyhow - it has always had issues with Thunderstorms and the 4th of july. But as he has gotten older the dogs fear has really progressed. A few weeks ago my Mom left to go to Pirate days in Port Washington and she came back (there were small storms) and he destroyed a window by trying to chew threw it, destroyed 2 screens on windows. Another time he chewed the back door. My parents just bought this house 2 months ago. I have suggested that they put him in the basement room - its a nice dry basement that I would have no problem sleeping in and lock him in there when they leave. Problem is my Mom just doesnt believe in that - she likes him to have free roam of the house. I know he cant be the only dog that has this issue. How to others handle this? They sell all this "herbal" stuff, but I dont believe it would work too good. I love the herbs, but giving him a drop of Chamolle on his toungue to me wont cure it. She is sending him to Dog behaviour - I share the cost with her - but I want to be proactive and think ahead. If this doesnt work, what else can be done? (added tag --1992)
