  1. without paying 450.00 for it on Craigslist. Toys r us got a shipment in Sunday AM - but you had to be in line starting at 0100 and during that storm you were not going to catch me there. Is it still possible to find one on the shelves if you walk into a store at the right time? Does anyone know of someone who had this luck? My kids really want one for Christmas - I gotta get it for them - It would be an excellent way to reward them for improving their behavior and schoolwork.
  2. Id rather have Reyes than Franklin or Flores. So if we can change that around, id be on board for sure. Rolen and Reyes, and I am sold. Reyes has the stuff to make an excellent closer.
  3. St Louis 590AM reports that it will be a Capuano for Anthony Reyes swap - EDIT - I MISREAD - he reports that it COULD be............. From MLBTRADERUMORS.com Cardinals Sign Cesar Izturis According to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cards have signed shortstop Cesar Izturis to a one-year deal. The amount is unknown, I'll guess $3.5MM. You know the story with Izturis - anemic bat, stellar glove. He'll offer a bit more than Brendan Ryan would've and doesn't cost much. If John Mozeliak finds something better it will be easy to pull the plug. This also signals the end of David Eckstein as a Cardinal, as expected. Strauss adds that the team has "strong interest" in acquiring the Brewers' Chris Capuano. That's a reasonable target and a nice buy-low idea. The Brewers would like to unload him given their starter surplus and his rising salary. In a radio interview on 590AM, Post-Dispatch columnist Rick Hummel indicated it could be an even swap for Anthony Reyes.
  4. I wonder what their next move is. Castro, Estrada, Schneider.............
  5. Nice scoop MLBTRADERUMORS.com EDIT: Transaction icon and removing all caps from title. -PF
  6. Doesnt blockbuster do it? If not I would bet that Game Crazy does - they are connected to a video store usually. Put up an add on Craigslist - offer 25 bucks for a week and a contract. I bet you score.
  7. When are tickets going on sale? anyone know?
  8. I just dont think its a good idea to move Braun at this point. His defense was a pretty big improvement and if I am not mistaken, wasnt he a SS his whole life prior to 2005? He is still somewhat new to the idea of the hot corner. His arm is a cannon which is the only reason I would like to see him in the OF, but thats also a reason he could someday make an amazing 3rd baseman. He had alot of bad plays but I remember his share of great plays. David Wright sucked at 3b in 2005 lets not forget. I love this site but Braun is still so new to 3rd base that we should not be considering moving him. If he is taking 1000 GB a day like Ned asked him to.......or even half that.....he is going to come back a heck of a 3rd baseman. Lets not screw with the kid. He is going to be something really special.
  9. Al - your blog really brought up a name Id LOVE to see the brewers attempt to acquire as I think he has all star closer written all over him. That guy being Anthony Reyes. Obviously I could never see the Crew and the Cards making a deal so its unlikely but it was a name that really sparked an interest.
  10. Why a Millionaire feels the need to sleep with a Machette is probably the key here in this whole drama.
  11. Something seems fishy about this - but clearly whomever shot him did not want to kill him. If it were a robbery, what was taken from the home? I have yet to hear. This seems personal and likely was something other than a botched robbery.
  12. Well I cant really argue that. I guess Mench does crush LHP. I guess maybe I have a bit of a old stale "mancrush" (for lack of a better word) on Reggie Sanders for many many years now. Perhaps its time I get over it. He isnt the young kid on the Reds anymore. Honestly, unless Sanders gets an offer to play in SF or Oakland, or the Dodgers or Angels, I think he is pretty much retired.
  13. I assume your talking about Joe Dillon. I dont want Dillon as a part of a platoon. I think he is too valuble as a body who can move around the diamond giving players valuble days off. I am not discounting what Dillon does, I just simply think that Joe Dillon the platoon guy is more valuble than Joe Dillon your every day player. I also think that players like him off the bench late in the ballgame are priceless.
  14. I dont want to move Braun. I still think he will be a good 3baseman. As far as LF, I dont want to see anything drastic. If I cant have Lastings Milledge, then for me, my dream LF is a platoon of Gabe Gross and Reggie Sanders. Sanders never gets real discussion on this board, perhaps because of his age, but he can still get it done vs left handed hitters. Gross - Sanders the ticket for 2008. He would only cost a fraction of the Cordero money and the rest of it can be put into guys like Dotel and maybe either Percivel or Hawkins. I really believe we lost more games the last few years with our bad relievers than we won with our good ones. I dont want to see the years where we cringe whenever Ned makes a call to the BP. Lets make his decisions "cant lose" decisions.
  15. Dotel hasnt pitched more than 40 innings in a few years I dont think. Id love to have him, but id want him to have to fight for the closer position. Lets just get some competition in here with a bunch of good guys now that Cocos money is out there.
  16. Lets say I just came up with the most amazing idea and I would use the internet as my delivery tool. What would I do? Edit: Excessive punctuation in title. - Toby
  17. How about Ronnie Paulino or Ryan Doumit? The Bucs have perhaps the best minor league catcher in their system (supposedly moving him to 3rd base) in Neil Walker. Ryan Doumit seems like a legitimate player at the position and while he might be better with the bat (switch hitter) Paulino clearly calls the better game. For a small market team like Pitt, I would think depth at a position should be moved to acquire legit players at positions where there are holes.
  18. I would in a heartbeat. The Rays according to MLBTRADERUMORS.com are looking for a defensive minded SS. If thats the case, Hardy would definatly fit the bill. Bill Hall would then move back to the SS position, and the search would have to continue for a LF. Baldelli is a great defender and could fit the bill as a leadoff hitter. If we got Baldelli, I would be open to resigning of Jenkins to platoon with Mench in LF. Reggie Sanders is another guy I would target in a 1 year deal. I think having a bat like his on the bench and a few days a week would make this team leaps and bounds better.
  19. Why does it always have to be ex brewers getting jobs here. I cant take it anymore. The 1982 Brewers have nothing to do with the 2008 Brewers - not even the same uniform. They havent played in the same park. They havent faced the same pitchers. They havent worked with the same Umpire Crew. They havent dealt with Free Agency. They have nothing in common with the players who are on the roster now. What is the fricking point? Do they think the fans will come out to see the 3rd base coach? The guy is a career .233 hitter and in a 7 year career he scored a grand total of 213 runs. This is a guy who barely knew what to do when he was on FIRST base, much less 3rd base. Yeah - If I am Ricky Weeks or any Brewer for that matter I am going to go to this guy for advice. Give me a break. Don 'Brooks' Money is at least respecable but if you tell me that he is the best 3rd base coach available, I will tell you that you are lying. I think that Ned Yost wants to make sure that there is no better option than himself as "interm" manager. As far as whom I would suggest they hire, I cant really tell you. Playoff teams - Bob Melvin - did not play for the diamondbacks. Lou Pinella - Never a Cub Terry Francona - Never a Redsock Eric Wedge - Never an Indian Clint Hurdle - Never a Rockie Joe Torre - Never a Yankee Mike Scioscia - Never an Angel Charlie Manuel - Never a Phillie Why must we be so lame and always try to bring back the "glory days". START SOMETHING NEW!
  20. He said something else - in closing as they were wrapping up the broadcast. Something about not singing and then about being the "singing broadcaster". I am going to guess that it wasnt players that got upset but rather certain fans.
  21. That is Dave Edmunds?
  22. Is there anywhere we can listen to Yosts postgame press conferences?
  23. RLUZ - But what do the Brewers have to lose by making the change. I dont think that we will EVER win games BECAUSE Yost is our manager, but we will lose them. The team cannot play any worse than they are now, so I think its time to push your chips all in and make a management change. Just one mans opinion.
  24. I think that we need to fire Yost before the Cubs Series. Something needs to be done to light a spark to this team. I know people dont believe in that kind of stuff but I bet I can find quite a few situations where a manager was fired midseason only to see the team make an improvement. Bottom line is the team cant play any worse than they are now, and losing Yost isnt going to destroy the team (its not like he is sparky anderson) so it seems like a LOW RISK, HIGH REWARD option. Even if it meant that Sveum was the intern. When the ship is sinking, if you dont try to do something to fix it, you are really just waiting for the inevitable.
