  1. Is today the first day or have I missed 3 nights allready? I love shark week.
  2. What was Parras Fastball hitting on the Miller Park Gun?
  3. Wow - Personally I think there is still 1/3 of a game left to play. Hopefully we dont have to face Heilman tonight.
  4. 3 K's? Would it be too far fetched for Ned to bench Hall for the game? EDIT - I believe in the "send a message" school of thought.
  5. NICE AB!!!! Beautiful! Perez is frustrated! COME ON BILLY
  6. No its the ingame thread. Perez has 9 K's in this game. I dont believe that is a Vent - it is reality, right?
  7. Make it 9 K's. This is gross. Lots of Baseball left but 9 K's thru 4 innings is simply sick.
  8. come on lets get to their BP already.
  9. CBS Sportsline said released.............I will have to look again.
  10. Listening to the METS broadcast right now - did you know that Big Kev is a member of Bigheadcaps.com? Great piece of Brewers Trivia.
  11. I dont know but I think that if Prince is hurting we should look into giving him a contract. The guy can still hit and is the best bat out there on the waiver wire right now. Any thoughts?
  12. test posthttp://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smokin.gif
  13. Sounds funny dude - but obviously you love baseball and can read. Id suggest you go to the local Barnes and Noble and spend a few hours there on a Saturday and Sunday(morning or evening) - You will have a ton of opportunity to meet women. Its as easy as checking to make sure they dont have any rings on and saying "Hi I am Jay can I buy you a coffee." All I know is that if I were single now adays, Id definatly find time to hang out and read books. Nothing better than a smart woman who loves to read.
  14. Uke - said something very interesting. At this time last year, Suppan had a 5.80 ERA. In the 2nd half of the season, Soup had a 2.39 ERA. We all know what he did in the playoffs. Lets stand by our guy here - an ERA under 4.00 the rest of the way would be like adding a MAJOR piece at the deadline.
  15. I hate being dissapointed around the deadline. I really wanted a shakeup. All that said, we are better today then we were a week ago with the addition of Linebrink. I consider him a major addition. Sheets is another week closer to coming back, at which point we will have Yo in the Pen. It would have been hard to hold Turnbow out of this next series, trading away a piece would have made us short handed for a few days while we wait for players to report, etc. The Race has only just begun. Just maybe no more deals is the best deal for us. In the last few days we have added Bill Hall, Scott Linebrink, Seth McClung, and soon Ben Sheets. Thats not too bad right there.
  16. When did the espn crowd come over here. Is this kind of crap really welcome here?
  17. Is it possible that Melvin is looking to move Cordero this season in order to get something good in return. Cordero would be the top reliever on the market. Id be curious what he could fetch. Then if he can replace him with Gagne. Turnbow, Linebrink, Gagne - Thats a better 7,8,9 than we have now. I just have a huntch that COCO is being discussed more than we know right now. If we are pursuing Gagne, that would make a little more sense.
  18. He has made himself alot of money this season allready. He might want to protect the arm.
  19. Great (upper 90s with movement) fastball and real good Curve - Struggles mightily vs left handed hitters. A good addition. Balfour and Inman for Linebrink and McClung? To me thats a good trade for a team starving for immediate BP help.
  20. 1IP 22 pitches, 2Ks 1Hit 0ER. I think he will be pretty juiced up if he gets a chance to pitch. With MVP Canidate Claudio Vargas is on the mound, we should have a lead come the 6th inning. Edit - Brewers MVP (lets not turn this into a Vargas thread though - I shouldnt have said that. )
  21. deleted. Go for it dude.
  22. I think Bill Hall might be okay in CF. Once he gets his bat going, this team is going to be back to kicking butt and taking names.
  23. I dont think that other report was accurate
  24. msn.foxsports.com/mlb/pla...ryId=85550 www12.asphost4free.com/ho...t_rat.html www.nctimes.com/articles/..._24_07.txt For the past 3 1/2 seasons, the 1997 second-round pick of the San Francisco Giants has been a force in the Padres' 'pen. He is 24-9 mark with three saves and a 2.57 ERA in 294 innings. He also has 90 holds since 2004, including a National League-high 36 last year. "Performance-wise he's no different from Trevor (Hoffman)," Padres reliever Cla Meredith said. "He's invaluable to us. Usually a guy (with his stuff) is closing somewhere." Count the current closer as one who knows the score. Even though Linebrink's ERA rose to 3.57 in 2006, his presence meant that Hoffman never pitched more than an inning. That fact isn't lost on Hoffman. "This team, it needs him," Hoffman said. "It's a direct reflection of the way Akinori Otsuka pitched the year before, and Scotty Linebrink has pitched the last three years picking up a large amount of the seventh and eighth inning duties. It's not just the closer. You might get some handsome dollar amount salaries, but it's the work that these guys are doing that people are starting to see. The good teams have more than two guys down in the bullpen that create short games." Hoffman ---- whose $7.5-million option for 2008 kicks in if he finishes 40 games this season ---- figures Linebrink has created a lucrative opportunity for himself if he becomes a free agent after the season. He believes Linebrink's 94-97 mph fastball, changeup, splitter and all those holds could attract quite a few suitors. mlb.mlb.com/news/gameday_...p&c_id=mlb The biggest out of the game was Hawpe, who'd broken up Chris Young's no-hit bid Tuesday night with an eighth-inning double. Needing a punch out or a popup, Linebrink dropped a wicked two-strike split-fingered fastball that was as big a challenge for Bowen as it was for Hawpe, who swung at air. "That's a pitch I get strikeouts on," Linebrink said, "but it's a tough pitch to handle. In a one-run ballgame, there's no margin for error. "That probably saved my inning -- Rob smothering my split with a guy on third. We've got some great catchers here. To have confidence that he'll go down and get it says a lot about Rob. He doesn't mind getting dirty."
