  1. I thought they signed Marcus Giles but I must have been dreaming.
  2. sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news...pe=fantasy Edit - added ? to the subject
  3. I also think you are underestimating Bush. When Acquired - in his chat last season during spring training on MLB.com, Doug Melvin said they thought Bush could be a top of the rotation starter. His stuff is for real he has just had some rough breaks.
  4. Is it possible to give a front loaded deal in baseball? something like 3 years 30 million with 15 of that up front. I know Mark A said we have 10 million for a pitcher, but if we moved Jenkins, maybe we could get that figure up to 15 million for this first year. Yes - he would be vastly overpaid this year, but this year and next he would probably be underpaid. (again - i dont know baseball rules in regards to frontloading a contract)
  5. I read somewhere that the NATS offered ohka a contract yesterday, but I cannot find the link anywhere now. Has anyone else heard anythign?
  6. Toronto - I dont know if they trust reed johnson. Even if they did, Jenkins would make a perfect platoon partner with Johnson. I know melvin said he couldnt platoon Jenks - but for a chance at a title I think he would have to consider it. Oakland - They could really use Brady Clark or Gabe Gross I think. They can use an OF that can play all 3 positions. I think gross and clark can do that. Minnesota - they DEFINATLY need an of yet. They are looking at Rondell White to play LF. If I Am not mistaken Kubel had a pretty serious leg injury this offseason. Colorado - I think Gabe Gross would turn into a monster at Coors. Washington - they seriously need OFs but I dont think they know it - judged by their willingness to move Ryan Church. Chad Cordero is available and would make one heck of an 8th inning guy. (Co Co Co ) I really dont think Wash has any intentions of winning this year though. San Diego - looks to me like they still really need a LF. It also appears that they need a power hitting RH bat. Anyone else see any possible destinations for one of our OF? Melvin made it pretty clear in his chat that either Jenks or Mench haev to go. He also said more or less that the CF job is Bill Halls. Brady Clark doesnt have the pop or arm to play either of the corner spot on the OF - so I think he is on his way out. I really think Mench will be back. Lets not forget that Jenks was virtually out of the Brewers plans at the end of last year. The damage is done, I do not think he will be back - reasonable salary or not - 7 million dollars to a team like the Brewers is still a ton of money. I cant see the Brewers choosing Jenks over Mench - but thats just one mans opinion. And if Jenks ISNT going to platoon like Melvin said - then I think we are taking a MAJOR step back by bringing him back in. If no platoon - I do not want Jenkins back.
  7. Why are they first noticing this now......?
  8. if madson is in the deal I will be happy.
  9. I would be happy only if the Phillies threw in either Gavin Floyd or Ryan Madson or Aaron Rowand but they are rumored to be going to Chicago. Id hope they would include a guy like Fabio Castro - but I cant see why they would want to add a BP arm only to get rid of one. Moving Mench AND Turnbow and getting only Jon Leiber back in return.........It doesnt work for me. I really dont know but doug can pull some magic tricks - - - I wonder if there is anything he could do to pull in Cole Hamels. If not him, maybe Gio Gonzalez. I could see Sheeter, Cappy, Manny Parra, Yo and Gio being quite marketable in a year or 2. The Phils got Gio in the inital trade for Aaron Rowand, and he was part of the futures team in 05.
  10. I think Brett Tomko is more likely but again - I dont see what either man brings that we dont already have. Whats the point? Zack Jack > Hendrickson.
  11. I actully thought mench was 27.
  12. Id really just be kicking myself if Mench went to Philly or wherever and filled his potential. He is a young man. I dont understand why so many are so willing to give Hardy a free pass on his season but want to hang Mench out to dry cause of his bad season after switching leagues mid season.
  13. I guess I am the minority here but I would definatly rather have Mench than Jon Leiber. There is a reason there is a market for Kevin Mench.
  14. Too bad its not Daniel Cabrera. If anyone could ever harness his talent, they would have a CY Young contender on their hands.
  15. Matt Cain P Marcus Sanders MI - Ricky Henderson as a middle infielder.
  16. Seems pretty simple. Mench and Turnbow for Rowand and Leiber. I really wish there were a way we could get Gavin Floyd thrown in the deal. I love his stuff and think he just needs a change of scenery.
  17. Congrats - Id rather have you than Sutton anyday.
  18. www.roccobaldelli.com/ Rocco Baldelli foundation if anyone is interested. When I see that a player is active in the community and charity I like to help spread the word.
  19. If Manny and Griffey would waive their clauses I could see the 2 of them swapping places with Ryan Freel moving full time to CF and Manny taking over in LF. That would be a really potent lineup with 1.Freel 2.Hatteburg 3.manny 4.Dunn 5.encarnacion 6.brandon phillips 7.David Ross 8. alex gonzalez
  20. Not sure this is really anything we didnt already know, but its from the horses mouth. "The dearth of power-hitting free agents has some teams turning their focus to lower-profile (and cheaper) options on the trade market, including Milwaukee's Kevin Mench and Geoff Jenkins and Kansas City's Reggie Sanders. Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin confirmed he had met with two teams, including Baltimore, regarding the Brewers outfielders and had conversations with several other teams interested in Mench and/or Jenkins. p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...eenFromWeb
  21. There goes my prediction.
  22. Clearly its gotta be Manny being moved. My GUESS is Manny moves to NYMets for Heilman, Milledge, and Phillip Humber/Mike Pelfrey. Just a guess.
  23. Will paste the link in a min Edit - here is where I got the info from. Kevin Mench Kevin Mench, OF, Texas: There are only a handful of batters who hit more home runs than Mench's 26 last season in fewer at-bats -- actually, it was more like a fingerful. Barry Bonds was the only player to out-hit Mench in fewer at-bats in 2004. Pretty good company. Injuries have hampered the aggressive swinger over the past couple seasons, but that shouldn't scare owners away from selecting him in the later rounds of mixed-league drafts. He just turned the magical Fantasy Baseball age of 27, and the Rangers lineup is one that should afford him plenty of RBI opportunities -- we're guessing more than 100 of them for 2005. I agree with you though - the quote is incorrect. That said - he averaged one HR every 16.8 ABs which puts him in pretty rare company.
  24. This is good. I want to hold onto Mench. Like I said in an earlier post, in 2004 Mench was 2nd in the league in Hrs per plate appearance behind ONLY Mr Bonds. I understand why he was acquired. Now we just need to get behind him so he can get some confidence. He should hit well in Miller Park.
  25. Cause if TBOW can return to All Star form, we could have 2 all stars in the Pen. For a team whos weakness was the Bullpen, it could become our strong point overnight. TBOW and Cordero reminds me of Neil Cotts and Bobby Jenks and we know how dominant that was.
