  1. I wish I knew what was bugging me today. I met my wife for lunch and was a SOB the whole time. I dont know why. Now I feel guilty about it. I really wish I could go back to sleep and wake up on the other side of the bed and start the day all over.
  2. Id give Davis for Figgins without question. Doug could probably get something else thrown in as well. Only difference is I think I would make Bill Hall the every day CF then and let Figgins handle a utility role or 3rd base.
  3. I have questioned that myself quite a bit. Who exactly is this teams leader?
  4. Sorry but what is P/PA? Pitch per plate appearance?
  5. In fairness to corey hart - last year was essentially his first taste of MLB. In the Minors he posted just fine #s for a leadoff hitter - although I do agree that he might strike out too much for the prototype. If he concentrated on making more contact and let his size and natural strength take care of the long ball I think he would post similar #s in the majors. 2005 - .377 OBP .913 OPS 2006 - .391 OBP .954 OPS Just one mans opinion.
  6. I agree that leadoff hitter might be what we want out of CF, but I think Ricky does a fine job leading off, and I also think that JJ Hardy or Cory Hart could handle the duties. There are positives each of these guys would bring to the top of the order. The more I think about it the more I wonder if it really is necessary to have a prototypical leadoff guy. Curtis Granderson wasnt your prototype and I dont believe David Eckstein is either. Correct me if I am wrong. Both players led off for their team in the World Series.
  7. I actully am serious - and since we were discussing other option in this thread I thought I would go with it. Personally I think Patterson took a huge step towards putting it all together last season in Baltimore. I know his .329 OBP doesnt really support that. I dont think he is a Leadoff hitter, but rather a bottom of the order guy who would be a nice platoon option and option off the bench.
  8. How do we get Cory Patterson?
  9. Lofton would excite me a bit. Id rather have him over Roberts and Pierre as well. Not sure who I would prefer over he and Gwynn jr. Its too bad Gwynn jr and Lofton both hit left handed or it would be a pretty ideal platoon. Id be all for signing Lofton and letting Gwynn play the year in AAA(if he has options left).
  10. Thats losing attitude. If we build a winner, fans will come and revenue will increase. In turn we will be able to easily afford to resign Prince and Weeks and Billy Hall. EDIT - actully that is to quote the thread title "cheap thinking" - note - I am not saying your thoughts are cheap.
  11. Not around here we wont be. Too much of "an injury risk" and the prudent Brewers cant afford to take chances on players who get paid anything more than the pizza delivery guy.
  12. Rumored to be offered up for Tim Hudson. With the Brewers inquiring about Rodrigo Lopez - I wonder what the odds are of us somehow stealing one of these 2 young golden arms. Adam Lowen especially would excite me.
  13. It wouldnt be the first time a team picked up a player only to flip him to another team for something else. Do I think they will move him? No.
  14. He probably knew ahead of time theat he didnt want to go to work in LA every day. Maybe he wanted to be on the east coast.
  15. Humberto Sanchez qualifies as more than nothing.
  16. Doug Davis and Brady Clark for Humberto Sanchez? Joba Chamberlain and Melkey Cabrera?
  17. Probably not Pogo . I think I am guilty of overvalueing our young players. I think when looking at trade partners, Hardy is a more desirable player than he really is.
  18. I thought this might be worth a topic on its own. www.rockymountainnews.com...98,00.html What could we get in return for Brady Clark? Id sure like to move Clark and Hardy for Troy Tulowitzki but I think thats pretty unlikely. I do think however that we might possibly be able to move Clark for Jeff Baker? How Baker would fit on our team I am not 100% sure, but he could probably hold 3rd base at least till Braun is ready - and then he could backup at 1st,3rd, and LF and RF. ??www.denverpost.com/moss/ci_3921022
  19. He also mentions that the Rockies might Pursue Brady Clark for CF.
  20. What is the price on them? I have been debating if I wanted a PS3 or a 360 - but then hearing you mention Zelda got me thinking about how I could give my PS2 to the kids and have the new Nintendo for myself.................
  21. Dave Roberts is probably the best fit out there for CF, although he (IMO) is the least exciting. I dont know why either. He swipes bases at a high rate, plays good defense, and has a pretty good and pretty accurate arm. He is a legitimate leadoff hitter. He would be a huge upgrade for the team. Not the most exciting signing, but at 3 years and 16 million - I could definatly live wiht that.
  22. Now if they could SOMEHOW bring in Daniel Cabrera - I would run around the block naked out of celebration. I have seen few pitchers with that kind of unharnessed talent.
  23. Problem is I would much rather let Jenks have one more shot at a starting gig than this guy trot out there every 5th day. Jenks upside is far bigger than this guy I think.
  24. Edit - I am not impressed with the numbers you posted earlier either. I dont see how Lopez would be an upgrade over ANY of the options we have for the rotation right now. I hate to say it but I would be more willing to give Hendrickson another shot before this Lopez guy. But its just one mans opinion. If he came in and was lights out, I could find a way to like him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. What the hell are we going to do with this guy?
