  1. Pitch around him. Load them up for the French guy.
  2. No way they let Dempster swing.
  3. Thanks for the education. I honestly thought that counted as 2 RBI.
  4. Take some pitches guys. Dumpster wont be able to go deep as it is. Lets expose the Cubs Pen. Gotta take pitches.
  5. What do you mean? he got 2 RBIs.
  6. Gwynn - Man I am really loving this kid. Are Intangables a stat? How many times has a Brewer batter gotten 2 RBI on a Sac Fly?
  7. I think that your underestimating what a great coach Pat Summit is.
  8. Id Bring Back Weekend double headers. Id offer Dollar Hotdogs and Dollar Sodas for kids every game day. Getting familys back to the ballpark is a must. Id encourage players to get out in our schools more often. With baseball games being so expensive for a family now a days I think that we are taking away from the future fan base because that first love of Baseball often comes from being able to go to the ballpark and get to know the players.
  9. Id really be surprised if Gwynn ever hit 5 Hrs in a season. That just doesnt seem to be his game. Id pay to see a HR Derby between Pierre and Gwynn if I could play shag balls in Short Center.
  10. Gwynn defensively in CF is a gem. You are giving up some power to what we had last year with Bill Hall but you are picking up a guy who is fundamentally sound with the bat and on the bases. He doesnt strike out as much as Hall, Has far more range than Hall and plays the position smarter than Bill Hall. Gwynn IS an upgrade in CF over what we had, just like Bill Hall is an upgrade at 3rd over what we had. The discussion of Gwynn seems to center on his weaknesses and not at all on his strenghts. How about being able to get a bunt down with 2 strikes on Monday? How abotu coming thru with a huge Sac Fly instead of striking out. Gwynn is never going to be a statistical beast or a Fantasy Players starting OF, but he brings alot to this team and I do not mind having him in the lineup, especially when he is swinging a hot bat. In Short - If people considered moving Braun from 3b to LF and putting a sound 3bman there was a big improvement for the team then I am still struggling to understand why replacing Hall with Gwynn, who I think this entire board would agree is an excellent defender, is not a big improvement. As far as living in the "now", well thru 2 games, Gwynn is the hottest player on the roster. He has done everything asked of him. With due respect, I just dont understand why the Brewers cant keep rolling with Gwynn and still be in "Win Now mode". Maybe I am misunderstanding something.
  11. I didn't get a real good listen because I am working on an issue right now but the contracts of Braun and Prince were brought up and Mark A said its a big decision for them and that they dont want the fact that we are talking about Tens of Millions of dollars to effect their play on the field. I guess you can take this a few different ways but the way I took it is they are offering 10+ per year. Isn't that what Ryan Howard got?
  12. HD is great but the amount of repairs I have had to do to my Hitachi UltraVision is just insane. I have been wishing for an HDTV that is abotu 50 inches and operates like a classic TV wtih a glass screen and all - if that makes sense.
  13. I say this with complete honesty. What about Larry Krystoyack(spelling). He was a heck of a coach at Montana and I would imagine wants to get back to the college game. To me he might be a fantastic hire.
  14. Also - Id like to throw Pat Summits name in the hat. Seriously.
  15. My darkhorse and personal favorite would be Todd Lickliter of Butler/Iowa. This guy is a star.
  16. I dont think Majarus could come here after saying some of the things he has at St Louis unfortunatly = cause id love him here. Doc rivers would be interesting but he is sitting pretty now - unless the Celts are one and out in the playoffs. Tony Bennett would be a big score but I dont think a Madison grad can have anything to do with Marquette unless its bashing. Its just an unwritten law which I will never understand. Kevin O'neil is available. What about Bobby knight? Is he really retired or did he just want his son to get that job?
  17. I am sure someone can answer this but why cant Tony Gwynn Jr be a younger Kenny Lofton? He can run like crazy and plays defense in Center field as good as I have seen in a long time. It seems like he covers just a ton of ground out there and his glove is really good. He is so fundamentally sound. He can get a bunt down in a tough spot and came thru with a big sac fly. How many games do teams lose because they cannot do the little things. He might not be a doubles machine, but he can take bases. Guys like Gwynn dont grow on trees. I still contend that he is never going to give up this starting CF spot vs RH pitching. Power isnt necessary out of a CF. See Dave Roberts, Kenny Lofton.
  18. Whats up with the hate for Pedro Martinez? I cant think of anything which he has done that makes me get pleasure out of his bad health. Granted he plays for the Mets and they are the NL version of the evil empire, But I still dont get it. Crazy 3rd shifters!
  19. I really enjoyed watching Kendall yesterday. He handles the bat so well - that sacrifice bunt out of your catcher was awesome! I dont imagine there are many catchers who can do that with such ease. His work defensively was a real breath of fresh air and the fact that he should be good for at least 130 games back there is a huge boost to this pitching staff. Ben Sheets is happy. Between Kendall, Simmons, Sveum, Yost, and Kapler, this team has all the leadership that it needs to go real deep this season.
  20. I have checked the belt, greased the drum and cleaned it out and its still squeeking. The Level says its good. The way I look at it is we have 3 kids and do massive amounts of wash. I think I am going to look for the most energy effecient electric dryer on the market and make an investment.
  21. Doug Russell says they are going to play. Granted, he is Doug Russell. But he is at Wrigley.
  22. So I am home today from work and decided to do a load of wash. My wife always complains about the dryer squeeking but I never really paid it any attention. Well this thing really squeeks bad. Does anyone have a cure for this?
  23. Weeks - First inning.
  24. I predict that todays game starts at 6pm. So you guys wont need to take off like I did.
