  1. Oh I am enjoying it, but hope we play a little better ball come Friday. They have the talent and players to do it. Maybe this was our slump and another team just slumped harder on offense. Bats hopefully can come awake in the warm confines of Miller Park and LA. They do have to execute better on offense to beat LAD, but they might. They really haven't been a bad offensive team since acquiring Moustakas, and there's not much reason to believe the current RISP struggles are anything more than a normal fluctuation.
  2. They stink. They're lucky they played a bunch of even more whiny, pouty pretenders with no backbone at the end of they year because they have been brutally exposed against the two legitimate contenders in the NL in the last month.
  3. Is that rule still in effect for the playoffs? Seems like it shouldn't be I could swear I've seen them finish a playoff game the next day before.
  4. Blackmon is pretty good against LHP's. It's more important to have him face someone else - especially a flamethrower after seeing Miley 2 times - than it is to have him face an LHP. I'm more surprised that they let Miley hit if they were only gonna let him stay in the game for a 1-2-3 inning. A lead-off at-bat from the 9 hole is a pretty important spot, and the difference between a good hitter and bad one in that spot makes a big difference in your chances of scoring a run during the inning.
  5. I'd probably favor the Rockies in both games. Miley could struggle and Marquez is pretty good. The Rockies are good at home, which makes sense because a team with a unique ballpark is usually going to build its roster to take advantage of the situation. And Freeland is a tough matchup tomorrow as well. But even if the Rockies have a 2/3 chance of winning today and the same tomorrow, which is quite generous, they still have less than a 50% chance of winning both. A-Rod might like those odds, but I sure wouldn't if I was a Rockies fan.
  6. Fun! If it's not, you might need be a break. It worked for me. It wasn't an intentional break but I like sports so much more now. It's not my livelihood, my legacy, or my next contract; it's theirs. I just started to feel silly for living vicariously through my favorite teams. It's entertainment only, like a movie. Enjoy it in the moment, but get on with your life as soon as it's over - unless discussing it and analyzing it is part of the appeal, which is sort of like a book club. That's totally fine because it's socially stimulating, but it's not healthy to constantly wish for things you have absolutely no control over to be different. Appreciate the artistry of the athletes and the architects of the game, and tip your hat to the other team once in a while. It helps to have lots of good friends who don't care about sports at all. I'd just feel stupid acting emotional around them. I've learned to crave a compelling challenge or story, win or lose, more than I crave winning. I just want a good game. I do get into the emotions of the moment because that's part of the fun, and you should always be competing because that's what makes it compelling, but you have to be a good sport to be happy.
  7. The Strong Arms of the Law The Counsell of Four
  8. Cubs fans may not root for the Brewers, but most of them probably aren't rooting for anyone else either. Illinois is closer to Milwaukee than Cleveland or any other playoff team and it has a lot of Wisconsin transplants. White Sox fans will definitely be rooting for the Brewers too.
  9. Don’t we want this though? Yes it is, and we're all rooting for the crocodile.
  10. Aguilar looks fatigued. Wouldn't hurt to lose some baby fat in hopes of staying strong all year next year. He's still hitting okay, but below average for a lumbering 1B over the last month or so. However, Braun's inexperience at 1B could be an issue with a GB pitcher on the mound. Keon does have a 1.098 OPS at Coors, but Aguilar mashes there too and it's not like Braun is a slow LF or anything. Also, Keon's OPS at Colorado Springs was awful this year. I think you're more likely to see Hernan or Granderson in the outfield if Braun plays at 1B at all this series, but honestly I think they've abandoned the idea of using him there until further notice.
  11. Nice win! I'm not at all impressed with the Rockies and I can see why their expected record was like 84-78. They were lucky to play some teams that were pouting and struggling and kind of mailing it in at the end of the season IMO because the Brewers and Dodgers could both play some of their worst ball and still sweep them.
  12. That's fine but what it it's 3-2 in the 7th on Sunday and you want him to go 2 innings? 5 high-leverage innings in 4 days is a lot for a reliever. Someone else should be able to finish this.
  13. The Rockies offense is one of the best in the game. I wouldn't take 4 R for granted. Dude. .665 OPS away from Coors. That's awful.
  14. Huh. They really need to use JJ here? Another hit and you can use anyone left in the pen. It's not like Oliver Drake is out there anymore, and the Rockies offense is terrible.
  15. Is he allowed to throw it into center field because that would work.
  16. Moose really needs to learn how to Brewer choke. Time for a team meeting/intervention. Perez and Shaw showing Moose how to Brewer! And yes I did just quote myself two times in a row.
