  1. The reason I find that Gallardo (and Inman) to be better pitchers than Neugebauer is based on their stats compared with Neugebauer at the same level. Neugebauer's control/accuracy wasn't good, resulting in high BBs. They might well be better pitchers now, but with Neubebauer we are talking about a guy who had a Randy Johnson-like ceiling. I think the real point that is being made is when you are dealing with pitching prospects, the unknowns are so great that if you can flip one for an established star, you have to atleast strongly consider it. Guys get hurt or they flame out for other reasons all the time and fail to live up to their astronomical potentional. If you can trade potential for production, you at least limit the number of unknowns you are dealing with. Personally, I like Gallardo a lot and would be inclined to hold on to him. But I can also see why people wouldn't be opposed to trading him, and I could probably be swayed if the right deal came along.
  2. Maybe if we didn't have so many losers around here the site's reputation would improve. We'd just be one of the worst sites ever. If you are satisified with being one of the worst sites ever, as opposed to the worst site ever, well, that's ok, even if it is pretty lame. In my opinion the only thing stopping this site from being THE worst ever is us. I think we all need to dig a bit deeper, and find not just our inner loser, but our inner Davy Lopes. If we are able to give 110%, I'm sure we can make turn this site into the steamy, smelly pile of worthlessness that we all want it to be. If you are satisified with being a partial loser, I can't make you want more... I can only pray that one day you'll want to be as big a loser as the rest of us, and make this site what it can be.
  3. If lucabus said it, who am I to argue? It's that sort of attitude that makes this site what it is.
  4. He doesn't have any balls, Cotton.
  5. During the ALCS, the Fox broadcast team questioned Milton Bradley running with Frank Thomas at the plate. One of the reasons they sited was his running being a distraction for Thomas.
  6. Another 1-2-3 inning by Sarfate... and a really, really good 3-1 slider to Pujols.
  7. Stop w/ the Manny Ramirez threads, he WONT come to Milwaukee, now Carl Crawford on the other hand..... Maybe if you tried: I think it's doubtful Ramirez will come to Milwaukee, but Crawford... Or even I don't think there is any way Ramirez will ever come to Milwaukee, but Crawford... It's the "Stop w/ the" stuff that you can do without. As has been stated, you aren't the final word on what can be posted here, so you need not post like you are. Honestly, it's totally unnecessary.
  8. Right now both Hendrickson and Krynzel are on the 40 man roster and will remain on the 40 man roster until removed either via trade or by being designated for assignment. This means that if they are traded in the offseason, they'd need to be added to their new team's 40 man roster or, upon being aquired, desginated for assignment (in order to be removed from the 40 man roster). Once ML rosters are trimmed to 25, if both Hendrickson and Krynzel are still on a 40 man roster, they will need to be added to the 25 man roster or designated for assignment. It doesn't matter if they are property of the Brewers or any other team. If the Brewers (or some other team) designate Krynzel and Hendrickson for assignment while they are on the 40 man roster and they end up being released, I believe they have to clear waivers before they become a FA. If they are claimed by a team during the waiver period, they must be added to that teams 40 man roster (and, if claimed while the ML roster limit is 25, the 25 man roster). If no team claims them and they clear waivers, they are FAs and can be added to any teams major or minor league rosters.
  9. While Zduriencik hasn't taken a college pitcher in the first two rounds of the draft, he hasn't selected a high school pitcher in the first round two years in a row. I think Patrick meant he has never selected HS pitchers in the first round of consecutive drafts, as opposed to he hasn't take a HS pitcher in the last two drafts.
  10. Ewwww Ewwww what?
  11. I know its hard to find a silver lining in a 10 run game, but I am encouraged by Sarfate's performance tonight. He obviously didn't have great control- something that's gonna happen to every pitcher from time-to-time. He still managed to get out of the 8th only giving up two runs, and then pitch a scorless 9th.
  12. Small sample alert, I know... but I'm glad Dennis is going so well with his chance to pitch in Milwaukee. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the bullpen the whole year next year.
  13. I think the message from Money was, if you are going to hit him, do it on the first pitch. Or, if you want to send a message by buzzing him, do it on the first pitch. But don't do it three times. I think that's a reasonable request.
  14. The biggest question I have about Gwynn is his OBP. Can he get on base at a high enough rate to be a productive leadoff hitter. A 360 AAA OBP isn't terrible, but I don't think it makes him a lock to leadoff next year in Milwaukee.
  15. AFL is the Arizona Fall Leauge. It's sort of a finishing school for highly regarded prospects. LINK: MiLB.Com: AFL home page
  16. Just got home from today's game. A very enjoyable and satisfying inning and a third by our favorite prospect. I don't remember the other 50 outs of the game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Jenkins dislocated his ankle in June 17, 2002 and missed the rest of the season (July, August, September). I don't recall when he was ready, but it wasn't a sure thing for him to start the 2003 season. Salome's injury, if it's a dislocation, is a full two months later in the season than Jenkins. So it would seem possible that he won't be ready when next season starts, especially given the physically demanding position he plays.
  18. The Brewers initially offered to sign him in the sixth round for $100,000, but Seidel passed. He also turned down offers to sign with the Chicago White Sox in the third round for $300,000, and the Minnesota Twins in the sixth round for $100,000 I don't quite understand this sentence. Isn't Seidel a high school senior? I'm thinking signing with the Brewers for whatever, was his only choice. What am I not understanding? When contacted at some point either before or during the draft, those teams offered to select him in that round if he first agreed to sign for that money. When he turned them down, they weren't drafted until Milwaukee selected him in the 16th without any sort of guarantee he'd sign.
  19. I hate speaking for him, but I am sure that was the point of Russ' post.
  20. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d190/ja002h/tomo.jpg I've always wanted to post that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Doesn't Geno have a young child at home now? I wouldn't be surprised if he's just spending more time being a dad.
  22. Brian: I just got it using the "mark forum read" link. Here is a screen shot: http://home.centurytel.net/cthjlh/ESPN_Sponsor.jpg
  23. It was stated that Dennis will probably move to the bullpen after this start to make room for returning Jackson, who is being delayed hooking up with the Sounds, due to travel delays. Hopefully when Dennis moves to the pen he has a few sharp outings in a row and finds his way to Milwaukee. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. The word that caught my attention was "now." That's an incredible thing to say, especially since it came from 2 scouts. I thought it was worth mentioning. I think they meant the project him to be a major league starter based on what they have seen now, but that he could turn out to be even more special and that projection could get even better in the future. I don't think they meant he could start in Milwaukee tomorrow if there was an injury. That's still high praise, as most players don't project so highly.
  25. If my calculations are correct, today is the day is Bush's bullpen day. If that's the case, he's probably available for a inning or two today (his game innings replacing his bullpen session) and can still start on Saturday. EDIT: Two innings is probably too long. One should be OK tho.
