  1. Which Brewers reliever is going to get hurt? We could trade him to the Red Sox for Swihart, a player who has fallen out of favor with them. Maybe get a slick fielding, quick middle infield prospect thrown in too!
  2. Hitting, yes. Defensively, probably a bit worse. I would take him over Bandy in a heartbeat. I would take Bethancurt on the team rather than Bandy.
  3. Do they need Aguilar? Swap out one roster casualty for another. Probably not and i am too lazy to check. Others on this board would have a better answer than me anyways.
  4. Seems Like Blake Swihart isn't going to make the Red Sox roster and is out of options. I propose the Brewers trade for him for their back-up catcher. He also can play the outfield so he fits with the Brewers mantra of roster flexibility!
  5. The Oakland Athletics want to play Franklin Barreto. The Brewers would like to move Keon Broxton. Lowrie has one year remaining on his deal to help bridge the gap to Hiura while there's some upside the A's could explore with Broxton. Would a straight up swap be fair to both teams?
  6. Wouldn't Phillps be more to TBs liking? I really think Santana stays now. Also, Neil Walker is a real possibility for us.
  7. There HAS to be something up besides just clearing payroll. BUt, if they are doing it because of that, it would be a good sign that Archer is out the door rather soon as well.
  8. Maybe we can sign him and package him with Santana to the Indians for Mejia?
  9. +1 Looks good to me. I rate Duplantier pretty darned highly so Tigers get the value needed. Everyone in this proposal gets a need.
  10. Reading between the lines, I would take it as the Brewers adding a SP closer to opening day via trade where the pitcher has been in a camp to be ready for the regular season.
  11. I don't see Arizona getting rid of Duplantier since they're getting rid of a pitcher and he seems to be a legit lights out prospect. But, I could see us getting Pavin Smith along with Corbin for Santana. I'm curious why you'd call him a legit lights out prospect. Hes 23 tearing up high a. Thats not what I think of when I think of legit lights out. Nor are arm issue concerns. Seen both him and Puk pitch. Most consider Puk along those lines and in my opinion I like Duplantier just as much.
  12. I don't see Arizona getting rid of Duplantier since they're getting rid of a pitcher and he seems to be a legit lights out prospect. But, I could see us getting Pavin Smith along with Corbin for Santana.
  13. I'd be very happy with Cobb somewhere around 4/56 and that is my prediction the Brewers land him for. I fear the Twins and Brewers will drive his price up, however. Please, for the sake of my sanity, do not come near Arrieta with his price tag. (I may be convinced he has value if he would come in around Cobb's and Lynn's price tags.) Lynn is just about the same for me, but would be an easier swallow just because it would not be as much money as Arrieta. If we had a non-guaranteed 1 year/$4 million offer for Garcia, I would agree that would be the best value, but Garcia offers no upside past being our number 4/5 pitcher. It's the reason he isn't garnering more attention.
  14. I did ask this earlier in the thread and it seems like it's fairly close to a good trade.... How about Cotton and Puk for Santana?
  15. Any way possible we could get Cotton and Puk for Santana?
  16. I love that idea. Make him earn his next contact, then give him a QO and get an extra pick we wasted on the Cain deal. It makes too much sense to ever happen, right? Save face for Arrieta and Boras, keep the Brewers in the wild card picture, avoid the pick loss and bad contract that a small market team can so ill afford, and give Arrieta more than half of what he would get on a much longer deal anyway. I would love this. It's not being mentioned anywhere around here, but someone posted on another site how the Brewers Payroll could easily be $140 million for the next 5 years and would not lose money. Offer Arrieta for 30-35 million and let him prove it.
  17. +1 These are my thoughts that I couldn't express as well. I would think Bauer needs quite a bit more and he would be my guy after Salazar. I would put Teheran in the Corbin mix and add Fullmer to the Stroman/Paxton deadline candidates.
  18. I would have to go with Cain as well. I think 5 years/$80 million would get it done.
  19. It did, but that doesn't mean there aren't other catchers who Yu also may like to work with. To me, if the report of a seviceable catcher is true, this seems likely as to why the Brewers would be searching and the term "serviceable" was applied.
  20. I think we can agree that Vogt is pretty expendable. Analytics say he was the worst defensive catcher in the majors last year. Besides popping a home run here and there he really has no value... So, what if the search for a "serviceable" catcher is one that Yu Darvish would want to work with? We then sign him to a minor league contract since we need upper Minors depth anyways, and if Darvish signs, this person would be our backup catcher to catch Darvish instead of Vogt. Probably would be better defensively anyways. Just a thought.
  21. I was hoping for for a Jose Bautista signing to add to Milwaukee's OF depth, not sure Trout could fit into those plans.
  22. I'd pick up $90 million of his salary and trade Brett Phillips, a low level flyer, and anything we don't necessarily need from the 40 man roster, i.e. Bandy or Susac, maybe Drake.
  23. I don't really like Corbin so that is the least I would take for Santana but, in reality, we'd probably only receive one of those two prospects back in a trade along with Corbin.
  24. Since the Blue Jays were the other serious offer for Yelich and they were also contenders for Lorenzo Cain, wouldn't the Blue Jays be interested in Santana or Phillips? No way do they trade Stroman, but they have a couple minor leaguers I really like that could be coming back as prospects, namely SP Nate Pearson and C Danny Jansen. I think something easily could be worked out here.
  25. I'd just do a one stop shop with the Marlins for most everything we need. Throw half the farm at them doing so. Brewers receive: Christian Yelich, JT Realmuto, Starling Castro, and Kyle Barraclough Marlins Receive: Lewis Brinson, Corbin Burnes, Isan Diaz, Caden Lemons, and Trent Grisham Trade Domigo Santana to Cleveand for Danny Salazar straight up. Sign Lance Lynn or Alex Cobb. Our Line up would be: C: Realmuto 1B:Thames 2B:Castro 3B:Shaw SS:Arcia LF:Braun CF:Yelich RF:Phillips Bench: Pina/Villar/Perez/Aguilar/Broxton Rotation: Salazar Lynn/Cobb Anderson Chacin Davies w/Nelson on DL Bullpen: Knebel Hader Barraclough Barnes Logan Jeffress Guerra/Gallardo in long relief.
