    Again, I think this is going to be a case of the Orioles wanting to make it seem like others have a great offer on the table to try and get the Brewers to overreach. I think the Brewers will offer the same package today as they would at the deadline. Something like Woodruff, Broxton and Carmona. Their offer may not look top shelf now but everyday that passes it'll look better because other teams will drop off their offers from what they're offering now due to the lack of time they'll get with Manny. To me, the longer this plays out, the better for the Brewers because I don't see David "blinking" and giving up something he isn't comfortable with giving up.

    ^ This is my take as well. I think this could be one of those GM tactics where you have one team that wants to get a deal done so you leak it that others have put forth a solid offer trying to get the other to budge. It would not surprise me if the Yankees haven't had anything more than due diligence phone calls with Baltimore.

    I don't see how the Orioles can have this drag on past the all-star break. If Manny strains an oblique over the next three weeks and is out until September the Orioles have lost all their ability to land any sort of help for their farm system.

    Yeah there's no way the Brewers ship out Arcia in a rental deal for Machado. They want him to get right in AAA and then come back and take the reins over again next spring.

    If that's all that it took to make that trade happen it would have already. The Brewers will have to part with likely two of those three to get Machado.

    Dan Plesac voiced his opinion this morning on MLBCentral that he thought the Brewers were going to land Machado. I could see it happening only if Shaw's wrist requires surgery.

    I think it also should be remembered that Mark A has been quoted as saying that we want to be able to make deals during the season and that they'd be willing to spend outside of their comfort zone if it means putting the team over the top. Would love nothing more than the Cubs to be rumored to be closing in on a deal with Machado and finding out the Brewers swooped in a grabbed him like they did with Quintana last year....as long as it ends up in a ring of course.

    Tom Flanagan came out today and said that Keston will start the year DHing more because he had some discomfort with certain throws. They'll need to make sure his arm is ok before bringing him up.

    How is trading our third baseman and closer for two prospects considered "not even that big of setback for your hopes this year"? I'm all for sending Santana out for prospects but I'm giving up two more crucial pieces. The Brewers are not that far from being able to contend. All a team needs to do is get into the postseason. Do that and anything can happen in October.

    Don't see any way the Brewers part with Arcia. The guy made huge improvements from year one to year two. He is already playing defense at a high level with his bat coming around. Awfully early to give up on a guy.

    Wouldn't trade Arcia at all. A middle infield of Villar and Castro is a nightmare.

    As a newbie over here I couldn't agree more. I've been scrolling for HH's posts. Unfortunate that we might have to continue to wait. Would seem like DS would want to put a deadline on his offer.
