One thing I do know tho, is this team responds well to adversity under Pat so we’ll see how they respond. Cannot continue to drop home series tho, team lacks juice at home which shouldn’t be the case at all.
Maybe not, but I don't believe Nunnallee gets 1.5 million. That extra 500k you mocked to him can be used to sign one of those two plus the additional 150k that does not count against the pool.
I believe your figure on Nunnallee is a bit too high. Nicholas Montgomery signed for just under 1 mil and was rated very similarly too Nunnallee, even a few spots higher on MLB draft's top 200 list. Heard rumblings he would take around 1 mil, so let's say 1.2 mil at most which leaves $ to throw at Wech and Smith. That's a life changing amount of money for these kids and now they get paid a better salary as well by MiLB. Still leaves them signing 6 or 7 guys from that 11-20 crop. Nunnallee is probably the top target left but if they are unable to work out an agreement, they could walk away with 8 from the group. .
I'm completely fine with the moves the Brewers made considering the astronomical costs of acquiring pieces this deadline. Really feels like everything is being put together for a serious run next year with a lot of expiring contracts.
Felt like an absolutely massive win tonight. A split in the next two games and I’m happy with the home-stand turn around. 7 game lead heading into the trade deadline, will be very interesting to see how Arnold perceives his team. Their quality run differential tells me they have a chance to be special.
I like this trade for what is now likely the first in a series of trades. I think the crew get another arm and a bat. Wiemer for me was very likely to be moved as a 40 man spot needed clearing and Junis was meh for me. I trust the Brewers front office and eye for pitching. Need a front line starter tho. Flaherty if the price is right?
I’d be very hesitant to deal from that list of players he posted. And if that is indeed the going rate for a rental pitcher of his quality, I’m fine seeking lower cost options.
I tend to believe both the player and agent have agreed upon a number they’ll settle with irregardless but there could be a certain amount of posturing done by teams as well to delay the $’s.
Next years draft is universally praised as a strong crop of talent and the Brewers will have a large amount of $, if Levonas can’t be signed, they pivot to the latter round selections and pocket the selection in a better draft. But all in all, fine with the class but not in love with it.
From Jim Callis: 1st-rder Braylon Payne signs with @Brewers for $3.44 million (slot 17 = $4,534,100). Texas HS OF, one of youngest & fastest players in @MLBDraft, good instincts on bases & in center field, some sneaky power too. @UHCougarBB recruit.
Happens every year. Brewers use up all the funds they can and seem to be shrewd negotiators. Plus they keep stuff pretty tight to the vest. Should see a ton of signings by Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
