  1. I'm a stats guy but one reason I love 3TO (besides his amazing 3TO avg.) is the entertainment value watching him.... and with that monster shot today, I'm reminded why I like the guy so much.
  2. It is kind of strange that the marlins have played 10 more home games than we have at this point.
  3. Weeks was sent back to AAA just about this time last year with better numbers than he has this year.
  4. I know it's a very small sample but Branyan's 3TO % in his first two games back is 55.5%!!!! Hopefully he can increase is already amazing 53.4 lifetime 3TO %.
  5. I went ahead and updated the stats from that article up unto the start of the 2008 season. Branyan is the all-time champion of the 3TO!! So this means, that 53.4% of his 1868 carrer at bats have either been a home run, a walk or a strike out. Amazing. I have faith in The Branyan. 6. F U N F A C T ! ! ! The home run ball isn't everything but Branyan has hit more home runs in just 100 minor league at bats this year than Gwynn has hit in his more than 2,000 total at bats as a professional playing career.
  7. The spark to set this team on fire has arrived. http://www.jeffnyveen.com/portfolio/writing/hitting/examples/branyan-side.gif
  8. Branyan receives the good news. http://static.flickr.com/64/175996463_46a5d3495b_o.jpg
  9. Just announced on the post game report by Powell. MJS link http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/8241/546456rf4.jpg
  10. Nice list but I don't really get why Chuckie Carr was on there. We traded for him for a low level prospect who never made it to the majors and Carr only had 150 ABs with us. And I don't really think the Shefield trade should be on the list. We had a cancer on our team we had to get rid of. Bones had a decent year or two (including our lone All-Star rep in 94. Valentin was never that spectacular but had his moments and was very serviceable and affordable when you consider our payroll at the time and Mieske, I don't remember if he was often injured or never got a full time starting job but his numbers were average. Look at his numbers for 96. He could have been a 25 HR/100 RBI/.280 guy if he played the whole year. This is all considering he had a young player with a bad attitude (funny how that hasn't changed 16 or so years later) who hit .194 in 194 at bats the year before. No one ever imagined Gary would put up those kind of numbers after the trade.
  11. Just me or is Rob Deer really drunk in the booth, talking to Uke on the radio?
  12. You guys see Roy's lifetime record against the Reds? 19-1 with a 2.46 ERA...... damn. Have you ever seen a more dominating win-loss record against one team?
  13. That's the thing about 3rd base coaches. The only really get noticed if the runner is meat at the plate. No one really notices all the times this year that Dale has sent them and they go on to score.
  14. Ricky has had his struggles so far this year but the fact is that while the Brewer's offense has been inconsistent so far this year, Weeks is 4th in the NL in runs scored with 24. The top spot in the NL is at 26. You wants runs scored from your leadoff guy and Weeks is doing just that so far. Let him continue to work it out.
  15. Wes hit 23 HRs in 476 ABS for the Brewers in 2004. Since then he has hit 25 HRs in 986 ABs. I'm calling Mitchell.
  16. I really kind of like the Rays team as a whole this year but I still have issues with the fact that they play in a state that has no business having a MLB team. Get MLB out of Florida. I'm predicting a sub 500 finish.
  17. "It's just one of those things where they boo everybody that leaves," Helms said. I seem to remember everyone booing him as a Brewer when he was introduced on opening day back in 2005.
  18. It's fun to brag about great trades Melvin has pulled off over the years but I think that trade will go down as his worst.
  19. I'm looking forward to the day they find out that Albert Pujols is really two or three years older than he says he is. You really think he was only 20 when he broke into MLB and that today he is only 28? Not a chance.
  20. I love what they guy wrote who sponsors Patterson's page on Baseball-Reference.com "Corey oozes with so much talent that he makes the game look easy. He doesn't like to slide back into first on pickoff attempts because they are an insult to him. He never fully extends on his dives in the outfield because he simply does not have to."
  21. Bring a soda in with you and buy a shot of wiskey?
  22. I'm really liking Brennaman. He's been announcing the last few Brewers vs Reds games on MLB TV. It's refreshing to hear an announcer very opinionated and taking strong stands on things. On a side note. Funniest things a Cub fan ever said to me at Miller Park was in 2005. I was sitting next to her and her obnoxious friends the entire game. We were winning the entire game by a run or two. Turnbow came in for the save and mowed down Lee on three pitches. Crowed going crazy, she turns to me and says, "oh, so now you cheer for them." What?
  23. Bring a flask in with you and buy a soda. I recently did this for the first time and loved it.
