  1. What I've been seeing is that if the Yankees trade Andujar for pitching then Manny would be a trade target for them. If not, then no. I don't think the Yanks are a strong player for him but you never know.
  2. Sam Dyson... pass. He's just a guy. He had a nice 2016 and not much else. Dyson might be a hair better than Jacob Barnes. Will Smith, yeah, all for it. If the price is right.
  3. The reason for the post is that all I care about is wins and I think the time off helps with that. They get the recognition anyway whether they participate or not. I think a few days without any travel or playing is good for players. It's great that we're all excited about a 1st place team and winning and post season dreams. But these players are human beings, it's special and, for most players, rare to be named an All Star and spend time among your peers in a celebration of baseball. They deserve to have fun. And I don't mean just show up for the festivities and never get in the game. They play a couple innings, they're not all out there grinding 9 innings of intense competition.
  4. If some teams requests Arcia in a trade, that isn't going to hold me back. Yes, he may bounce back and hit, but I will take that risk if some team values him enough to ask for him. You can find defensive SS for free (Saladino, Rivera). I agree with you. But that's because I don't think Arcia will ever be a compotent hitter. He is phenomenal defensively, but batting .220 doesn't justify that. To me, this is a case of Brewers fans really loving their own guy. I'm absolutely showing him the door for Manny Machado and a shot at a championship run. We'll find another SS who can't hit. If you're not willing to give up a guy who's been that bad for someone like Machado I don't think you'll be happy with any deal for him. I'd much rather give up Arcia, a guy who's at least had chances in MLB, than someone like Hiura, Burnes, etc. I'm not saying Arcia won't ever be good, but I don't think he is, and we at least tried him out. That makes it easier for me to let go. I think it's too early to give up on Arcia. He doesn't need to be an All Star with the bat to help this team, he just needs to not be a black hole. His season last year was pretty close to enough, if he's done it once reason dictates he's capable of doing it again. I frankly don't see a scenario where Arcia not being available becomes a deal breaker for a team the Brewers are negotiating with. The Brewers have many fine prospects, a team isn't going to walk away because they can't have the shortstop that hasn't been able to hit out of a wet paper bag this season.
  5. Votto finished second in the MVP race last year and Goldy finished third. Reputation gets you much farther, I guess. https://www.mlb.com/news/marlins-giancarlo-stanton-wins-nl-mvp-award/c-262051396 Goldschmidt's stats stand up just fine, I'm not sure how anyone can say he doesn't belong based on past and current performance. With Aguilar and Segura both leading the vote I take that as a very good sign Brewers fans are voting often. I know I have been, and Segura has been my AL vote.
  6. I don't know if that specific question was answered, though. He was asked what position he would like to play if traded, not whether he's open to shifting over to 3B in late-inning situations or spot starting there 1-2 times a week. All we can do is go by his words. So far it’s that he’s a shortstop. He plays shortstop. I think he's really focused on being perceived as a SS for when he hits free agency. I don't think it has as much to do with what position he ends up playing once he's traded. I remember reading something a week or so ago of him answering a similar question saying something along the lines of whatever happens when he's traded happens, but when he becomes a free agent he will be a SS for the team he signs with. It's his presidential talking point, if you will. Clearly his only choice would be to throw a tantrum and sit out if he gets traded to say Cleveland where there's zero chance of him displacing Lindor. Doing that would only hurt his earning power in free agency, I just don't see it happening.
  7. Yikes, a bunch of big markets. I’d love to be proven wrong (will do my part), but I predict 3rd place finish. I know everyone wants Aguilar to make it, but jeez why act like the other options are all trash? Personally it should be Muncy or Aguilar just because I feel the AS game is more about featuring offensive talent and not defense. That’s probably a wrong way to look at it, but for reserves that’s what I like to see. That being said most of these guys have higher WARs than Aguilar. ABs all equal most are likely comparable. I don’t know much about the others, but Aguilar has been so huge for the Brewers and had so many big moments. That with the stats should have gotten him there. Sucks if it doesn’t. Belt was having a really good season until he got hurt in early June, hasn't been quite the same since his return but still has a .890 OPS Trea Turner is legit, numbers not as big but he's a SS and steals are a big part of his game. .785 OPS. Matt Carpenter I first thought meh batting .256, but that .865 OPS is nothing to sneeze at. So yeah these guys are all deserving. I think it's a race between Aguilar and Muncy too but who knows which fan base will be motivated most.
  8. Aguilar, Belt, Carpenter, Muncy and Trea Turner in the NL final vote. Gotta get Jesus in there.
  9. People and media say year after year that fans shouldn't pick All Star position starters (which I disagree with), yet the managers and players vote in Joey Votto from the last place Reds? Evidence that bias and favoritism is human and not limited to fans.
  10. That's a sexy line up. Come to papa. Especially when you have Saladino and Miller to plug in for Villar as needed.
  11. Rosenthal and Heyman both reporting Dodgers and Brewers are "most serious" or "in the lead" on Machado.
  12. I'm not even sure about that. This team has been overlooked all year that will probably only get one guy in the All Star Game despite having the best record in the NL. I've seen two projected NL All Star rosters with 4 or 5 Brewers, I can't remember which one had Cain, Aguilar, Hader & Jeffress. ESPN had those 4 and Yelich. Doesn't mean much but it is a view of how these guys are thought outside Milwaukee. Edit: Nevermind on the ESPN one, they were only showing votes beyond the starters. They list too many for a 25 man roster.
  13. PinaMadness I'm not picking on you, just letting folks know that last time Hader pitched more than 1 inning before his 3 inning stint was June 11 when he pitched 1.2 innings. He had 6 straight appearances of 1 or fewer innings. I had thought CC had decided to limit his multi inning appearances for a while there. You have to go back to May 25 for his last 2 inning appearance. Well, it does seem that way. Probably because we don't see him often enough to think otherwise. Having huge leads or huge deficits haven't helped either. Sometimes you just have to use him in spots you wouldn't normally use him in just to keep him sharp. I've really liked having Hader make more appearances and pitching for fewer outs. We'll have to see if CC goes back to that or sprinkles more multi innings in there.
  14. If you're any type of competitor you always want in the game. CC needs to rethink his usage of him. They have enough depth in the bullpen that he doesn't need to always pitch more than one inning per game. The more available he is, the better off the team is. PinaMadness I'm not picking on you, just letting folks know that last time Hader pitched more than 1 inning before his 3 inning stint was June 11 when he pitched 1.2 innings. 15. Plot twist... RickH is actually Eric Sogard. I don't think Eric Sogard himself is this salty about his situation TBH. He's going to be fine.
  16. I think it is probably his injury at play. He is on pace for 21 HR, 19 SB, 98 R, .830 OPS over a full season not including the DL stint which made him miss over 10% of the season. He maybe didn't take the step up people thought he would be he is at least on pace for a normal year. What I like about Yelich is he's like one of those glue guys teams have, like a Jon Jay (yeah I just threw up a little), except he has superior talent and skills. He does everything well, he can hit for average, take his walks, has some pop in his bat, good speed, solid defensively, he's intelligent and a great teammate. He's young and in his prime so it's possible he still has a breakout season in him. Still loving the trade for him.
  17. LOL Villar tonight: 2 for 4, 2B, SB, 2 runs scored. Dare I say a better line than Sogard has been capable of for way too long a time. And Sogard takes home every penny of his $2.4 million dollar contract and can sign with any team who wants him. Honestly that's probably 4 or 5 times what he was actually worth. If my employer offered me 4 years severance pay I'd take it in a heartbeat.
  18. From Haudricourt's article today in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: This seems more logical than a full time shift to 2B for Shaw. It is intriguing what opening up 3B for a trade acquisition could do for the offense but it would tank the defense too much IMO.
  19. Actually, today will be the 5th day he's missed. It's not even that hard to look up. If he plays tomorrow is missing 5 games better or worse than missing 10 days?
  20. Shaw at 2B? Per MLB.com The article goes on to theorize that the Brewers might look at Mike Moustakas to play third. Mentions interest in Whit Merrifield, which has already been reported. And goes on to say that Aguilar is an internal candidate to play more at 3B if Shaw could play passable defense at 2nd. Interesting. Not sure I have a lot of faith in Shaw's ability to play at 2B, but if they're actually working with Shaw there in practice who knows what crazy stuff might happen.
  21. Kratz pitching? Ok. Guess that's the only way this works since Pina was the last man on the bench.
  22. Hopefully Barnes can get 3 more outs and we don't have to go to Knebel. Even if they pitch a position player a pitcher would need to play in the field.
